Review The Royal Ruchi - Abbots Bromley

Momoko
I have visited here twice and have been given great service and food for both times. You get a free papadum served with mango chutney, mint sauce and vegetables (probably the best papadum I’ve had, yet!). They got a great selection of curry and other traditional dishes such as biryanis and other dishes you’ve never heard of, so I really appreciate trying different dishes besides just curry such as a Tilapia dish, which is what I ordered and found it delightful. The restaurant is very small and has a very intimate and home-like setting, which is great for kids and family. The price is pretty affordable (a curry can range between £7-12), but it does take a while until your food is served. I highly recommend this restaurant, and the Peshwari naan bread here is delicious!

One of the best Indian meals I've ever had. Booked at The Royal Ruchi after reading about the Michelin Inspired evenings in the Burton Mail, and reading the reviews etc on here. Super menu, with some really interesting dishes, and a good wine list. The food met our expectations. It was delicious, looked really good, and was skillfully cooked and presented. The service throughout the meal was absolutely first-class, and served at our table by pleasant, knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend booking here in advance, especially at weekends. Fantastic!

A perfect birthday dinner Everything was just right, friendly attentive and prompt but not overzealous service, superb food. We had the Royal platter then special biryani, all beautifully spiced and generously portioned. The waiter overheard that it was my husbands birthday and, though we had decided not to go for a pud as we were so well fed, brought us a happy birthday plate with a small portion of chocolate fondant topped with a candle. A lovely gesture which finished our meal on a high note! Recommended without hesitation

Lovely evening with friends and the usual friendly welcome. Menu has been revised and shorted with some dishes removed. The prices have risen with this process and seemingly a lot of the curries have become milder. Chicken Jalfrezi, usually my limit of heat, felt a little tame (though lovely). Now feels a bit expensive at around £35 per head including modest amount of beer/wine.

From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel very welcome. Lovely atmosphere in a wonderfully decorated restaurant. Our meals were delicious and plentiful. The Royal Ruchi is a must place to visit and we will definitely be going again when we're next at Wychnor.

The Royal Ruchi sits in the "treat" curry category for us; we knew this when we made our booking - the menu is clear to see online. Presentation is exquisite, flavors are tantalizing, every aspect is cooked perfectly. This restaurant perfectly showcases the wonder that is fine Indian cuisine. In a nutshell, if you're looking for a bargain night out/cheap curry, you won't find it here. But if you want a meal where every course looks and tastes amazing, and an experience you will remember long after the bill is settled, then the Royal Ruchi is a great shout.

We were very lucky to have reserved a table of four for the Michelin night last month where a Michelin star chef and manager came from Mayfair, London to host the evening. I have been quite fortunate to have dined in a number of high end places including Benaras in London so I knew the level they needed to deliver. The Royal Ruchi delivered big time! A well thought of taster menu with Beautifully cooked sea bass in a lavish setting wine paired. I was so impressed that finally Staffordshire now has a taste of Michelin which we’ve long been waiting for! I hear they look to host another Michelin night experience next month so I’ve signed up on their website. Can’t wait!

Always a great meal. They tried out one of their new dishes for the new year on my partner. 24 carat fisherman's catch. Was apparently very lush. .... 😉
