We held our wedding reception here and I can not praise and thank them enough! They took time out to set the area up for us, cooked amazing food, brilliant value for money, staff are super friendly and very helpful.
We also had an evening meal a different evening and breakfast the next day it was all delicious.
100% recommend, great place, we will be back!

Well located Marston pub on the outskirts of Aberystwyth. Food was cooked and prepared very well. Staff were helpful and service was good. Parking is free as they have their own car park.

The food was wonderful, the staff were amazing and a real credit to the pub. I had brought my father in law in for his first time and he thoroughly enjoyed himself

Amazing food! Lovely staff they was very helpful. We dined in the bar area with our dog and let us change table to suit our needs better. We loved it that much we came back for Sunday dinner! Thank yo, if we ever holiday here again we will be back! Great for family’s, people with dogs and couples.

I would give more than 5 starts if I could. Friendly staff, fantastic vibe, the food was just perfect and there is great choice for drinks. We visited quite a few places in Aberystwyth and this is the best place to eat, have drinks and enjoy a chilled atmosphere. It’s great for kids too! Keep up the good work guys!

Popped in as it was the first place I seen.... and what a great place! 5 stars for it all. BEST gammon I've had in a long while!!!!!

Tbh having read recent reviews we were a little apprehensive BUT we were pleasantly surprised by our experience.
Our table was ready when we arrived (there were ten of us aged 1-70)
Service was fast and orders taken quickly.
Food arrived not too quickly (so we knew it had been prepared freshly, not just warmed up) and it was DELICIOUS!!!!
We all had roast dinners. Portions were generous.
Toilets were spotless.
It was in every way a great Sunday lunch and we would certainly come again.
An added bonus (esp in Aberystwyth) is the ample parking.
Thank you starling cloud you made our family lunch a great success

I went with my family and had the mixed grill, it was all tasted really good, but I personally thought that there was too many meats in it, leaving me full around 2 thirds of the way through. The staff were lovely, greeting us with a cheery attitude, and the decorations there were lovely, giving a small and comfy vibe.

Hey my daughter is in University in Aberystwyth and as it was her 21st Birthday I asked her where she wanted to go for lunch, she said she'd been to Starling Cloud a few times and enjoyed it, so I rang them and booked for 15, they asked me for a pre order which was fine, we arrived they promptly took our drinks order and the food came out promptly too! everything was present and correct, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and can't wait to come back, thank you Starling Cloud

FANTASTIC!
Staff (apologies for no names...) extremely friendly, courteous and helpful.
10 of us came to dine, 10 of us got what we ordered, well cooked and in a timely fashion, including sweets...
I had the mixed grill which was cooked perfectly and very tasty, VERY!
All in all, it's one of the best meals and experiences I've had in a good while! 10 of us all agree...

This is a lovely little bistro pub to visit. It's very well decorated and clean. We visited twice over the weekend. Once for breakfast. We were not staying at the hotel, but they still found us a table and were just as attentive as if we were staying. The food at breakfast was generous. The pancakes were really good!
We went back for dinner, which was just as good. We spoke to one of the chefs, Gerry, who was knowledgeable, really approachable, and took his time to assist with someone in our party who has dietary requirements. His Irish charm was unquestionable but was really professional. The food was tasty, service was quick and reasonably priced. Will be going back again.

From start to finish a wonderful experience. Jess made us welcome, sorted our drinks promptly, was helpful with food order for my granddaughter and told girls where to get pens and paper to draw. She came back after food arrived to ensure all was ok. She told us about forthcoming events too! Agreat service, wonderful staff and we will definitely be back!

Very friendly staff. Food was good. Offers good disabled access and is also dog friendly

We stayed the night as we were picking our son up from the University for the summer. Good local pub with good food the staff were all polite and nothing was too much trouble especially at breakfast the following morning. When we ordered and the food was changed to how we wanted it by taking things off that we didnt like and exchanging them for items that we did like. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Good location for both the town and the University.

Visited the Starling Cloud for the first time in 2018 last week (mid Feb). It was Saturday evening, at roughly 8.30 (they serve food until 9.45pm). The restaurant was probably a quarter full, but all tables were dirty or had glasses/crockery on. Sat down and waited for table service. In the end we went to order our drinks at the bar, and were told someone would come over to take our food order. I think we waited around 20 minutes in the end of someone to come over to us since we first sat down.
Oddly, when taking our order, the waitress apologised for the state of the restaurant (which was very untidy and dirty). I agreed and commented on the fact that our table needed a good wipe down. Nothing happened, and I eventually went to ask the bar staff for someone to wipe the table. The same waitress returned some 5 minutes later to wipe the table, flicking food onto both of us in the process and then leaving her cleaning items on the table next door. No other tables were cleaned in the 3 hours we were there - despite staff chatting at the reception desk and being at least 4 on duty.
Our food orders were simply placed on the table, not even asking who had ordered what or putting them in front of us. We were given 2 knives and 1 fork.
At the end of the evening (we had been joined by friends). Last orders were called at 11pm (not a problem), however we were rudely hurried out of the pub with hardly any notice. A staff member came by giving up "5 to 10 minutes" notice to leave, which was surprising as drinks were still being served. Before the 5 minutes were up he was back to tell us to leave. I did question the fact that 5 minutes hadn't even lapsed, to which the reply was "we'll be in trouble if you don't leave now". There was no apology or politeness and we left feeling incredibly annoyed at the service.
Obviously we realise every pub has to close, but a warning of 20-30 minutes would be more reasonable, with a reminder at 10 minutes. This is the case in most pubs, rather than being rudely chucked out. Sadly, having tried to give this establishment the benefit of the doubt over a few years now, I won't be bothered to return. I'd recommend going to town or Park Lodge and eating at the many pubs and cafes available, all of whom will be grateful for your custom and polite.

Went for a meal had a mixed grill that you have to pay up front raw chop raw stack asked for it to be recooked after 10 minutes found out it was chucked in bin not even an apology would of taken it home and cooked it will not return awful please beware

Gave this place another try as we had a bad experience last time and although we only waited 25 mins for our food and our table waitress was ok our food came before our drinks which we had to chase ... now this would have been ok had it bot been that the pub was fairly empty when we entered and we watched the bar staff stand about and then when they had started our drinks order after pouring out beer it was abandoned by the bartender due to a lady approaching the bar!!! Which may i add didn't happen to subsiquent orders even made to wait ourselves when trying to pay due to the same bartender asking us to wait while he completed a table drinks order!!!! AWFUL!! Then when our food arrived chips were cold, coleslaw looked as though it had been run over, dried out and then placed in the side dish, the sirlion steak ordered was fat and grissle and ordered medium came as rare the flat mushroom was well just awful!!! The 1/2 rack ribs were the smallest i have ever seen. We were never checked on and had to eventually go to the bar to ask for our bill after initially receiving table service. Having said all this i am truely disappointed as we attended for our sons 12th birthday meal today! We give everywhere a chance and this is our 2nd visit since our bad visit in May we won't be coming back this place seriously needs an overhaul!!!!!!!

Second time we've visited this pub. Great family pub, friendly staff and clean / tidy. Good Vegan choices (even for children). Children's portions are very generous. Would strongly recommend and would visit again when next in the area.

Lovely food and lovely staff:) loads to choose from off the menu and the kids menu is really good to! My sisters a super picky eater and she never has problem choosing what to have from here!

Visited previously with friends the service and the food wasn't at a high standard and ended up complaining. But today we went for a meal and gave you the benefit of doubt and thought we'd try it again - wished we hadn't! The kids fish fingers were frazzled, husband ordered the 'fire chips' the spicy powder was only on the top chips. I had Ham, Egg and chips, chips were stone cold, came out a min straight after sending back and they looked like the same chips again but had been shoved in a microwave as they were soggy after. Meal's - no presentation whatsoever looked liked the food was just dropped on the plates. Service was appalling! And we weren't the only people complaining. Will not recommend and won't be going back!

Just been here, in fact we went 2 days running, fairly busy being the weekend, good quality food at a value for money price, they offer a table waiting service, however as usual because we have legs of our own my husband went and got drinks while I found a table, we don't need to be waited on for our drinks! Young girl who ordered our food was happy and polite despite being busy, she got our food order correct and starters came about 15 mins later and main about 10 mins after that, food was lovely, over the 2 days we had fish and chips, gammon and steak as mains, prawn cocktail and mushrooms as starters, I recommend them all , also at one point they forgot our cutlery, guess what? We got up and quickly fetched our own! No problem at all! 5 Stars given and deserved, Thank You 😊

Dreadful meal tonight, plus poor service and a very long wait for food. Plus we were not warned in advance that there was no cooked chicken available. Very disappointing.

Stayed here on the 8th till 10th of March and we had a double room. The room was nice and clean and the beds were comfy.
We ate in the pub and the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

I only stayed one night. I found the staff very helpful. There was only three in the bar but they were friendly. It was also a good room. Nice breakfast too.

Went in for lunch, the place was not very busy however the service was slower than usual. Tables, menu cards all felt sticky so not very appealing.
We have been here for lunch few times in the past but I am not too sure about the future and that's all down to the poor service and poor hygiene standards.

Could not fault the food at all. Customer service left a lot to be desired. I asked what ciders they had and one of the choices given by the waitress was Amstel!!! Asked for the chicken to be off the bone, was told couldn't have half a chicken as only 2 chefs on........so had quarter chicken. Took a while for dessert, and had to go to bar to ask for bill.

I only use this place about 10 times a year I have never had a bad meal hear we always use this place for special occasions while at the caravan

I'll start with the plus side... clean room, comfortable bed & nice shower. All the things you need from a one night hotel, after hundreds of miles on a motorbike. There was a fault with the air-conditioning, which we reported in the morning. Got the impression nobody will look at it tho.The lady was very polite & friendly when we checked in. The 1* is rated on the pud side of things. Food was poor & not hot. We were tired & hungry, so ate & left. The waitress had no idea about the menu. She was more interested in her task at hand... Putting date stickers on sauce bottles, as there was word of an inspection!!! When the food came, no one had any idea what they were serving. And we were never asked how the meal was or if we'd like a pudding. We ordered at 2030 so guess the chef closed up after our main meal. The breakfast crew needed a re brief in uniform standards, shabby to say the least. Using your dirty off white cardigan as a oven cloth isn't doing it for me!!! Put me off my cold poached eggs on dry toast. The hotel was booked as part of our holiday tour, will recommend not to use again.

Me and my partner had food here last night. Staff were very friendly, and checked how our meal was and when we were paying, checked again if we had enjoyed. The place was clean, the food was all well and presented nicely.
