Been here three times for diner and one time for lunch in the last three weeks. What to say? I like this place a lot. Very good steaks, superior T-bone steak (unfortunately not always available), fantastic Normandy apple tart. Highly recommended.

stunning restaurant location right on the thames!! food was delicious and the restaurant is decorated so beautifully, surrounded by views of the river. food was delicious and i really recommend the crab and seafood cake starter. huge thanks to robin who was so friendly and accommodating - we will be back soon!!

Set on an island in the Thames, the Nags Head is a lovely place to have a pint and watch the boats go past. There’s a large beer garden terrace on the island and outdoor seating for diners too. It’s child friendly with a good children’s menu. Minus one star for not accepting cash.

Enjoyed a lovely meal with a group of friends. Staff were friendly and accommodating of our dietary needs and foibles, allowing us to mix and match a selection of dishes from all menus and even for people to share. Very attentive servers without being claustrophobic. Food was all delicious and arrived at the table looking and tasting wonderful. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant area, all in all a lovely evening. Would recommend

Lovely pub with scenic views of the river. There is plenty of indoor & outdoor spaces to sit, eat and drink. The service was very fast but we did order ahead, but we were still impressed at how quickly they brought all our courses (3 courses) and we were a large group of 16. The food was good, some items better than others. My chicken and chorizo burger was super dry and I couldn't eat it. People that had the Prawn curry said they were fishing for them in the plate as there were not many prawns in it and it was underwhelming. The sticky toffee pudding was good, but the lime key pie was not highly rated by those that had it. I can't comment on the drinks as I don't drink, but I had 2 mocktails (they only had 3 options ). First one was a passionfruit spritz which quickly turned to tasting like water and the 2nd was a pink lemonade which was fine. All All it all we enjoyed our time there.

We were the DJs at The Nags Head in Abingdon for their Halloween Silent Disco and had a brilliant night! Really friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to coming back again soon

A stunningly beautiful pub on the River and a gorgeous place to sit out and admire the beautiful views over the Thames, it is also dog friendly! Parking is literally a stones throw from the pub with plenty for eveyone and cheap to park. Loads of seating outdoors and a dedicated little hut serving drinks and beers on tap. Really friendly and helpful service, we only stayed for drinks but the food smelled delicious! Definitely one for next time. Highly recommend after a nice long stroll along the Thames path.

Great food at a really cozy place. Really sweet staff that helped us with everything we needed and food was delivered quickly. The outside terrace is a really wonderful place to sit, right on the river. The inside is also very beautiful and cozy. Would for sure come back again. They have a nice lunch menu besides their normal menu. Portions are quite large, the fries with the dishes are delicious and quite a lot. Overall great place!

Me and my partner booked a table for 6 to sit outside. This was Sunday 8th july. On arriving at the outside restaurant the girl stood at the station was talking to her work college and basicly ignored us, until I said I have a table booked at 6. With that she said nothing look at her screen and said this way. Once sat down no one came and asked if we wanted drinks. We sat for 20 mins until another girl asked if we wanted to order. On that I said we would like some drinks first please. She went and got the wine list and stood there over us until we ordered the wine. It was a hot day no tap water was offered at all. So far this service is very poor. So food ordered wine ordered. Food then comes out before wine... this happened last time as well.. Not good enough. The menu was 5 mains all very heavy food, also one was not available so only 4. Come on get with it the weather is hot offer not so heavy food, lighter options!!!! I had fish and chips, fish very greasy and the chopped peas were hotter than the sun... So microwaved to an inch of their lives. My partner did not like here burger at all, the bun did not appear to that fresh and just all round bad.. I will come to the Nags Head for drinks but never again for food.. and i will put up with the shocking service... for now.. must try alot harder.. shocking!!!

Have frequented this pub for several years and have always loved the opportunity to enjoy the Thames, the food and the wine!! Yesterday's visit was really disappointing. I went with a friend and 2 dogs for a celebratory lunch with prosecco! First we were told we couldn't eat where we had sat, despite the tables being laid up for lunch! The 'manager' was really blunt with me, had no sense of humour and treated me like I was a nuisance. Our order was taken by a young boy, I ordered smoked chicken with bacon and avocado. My friend had crayfish and prawns. When the food arrived, there was no avocado so I asked the waiter if he could get me some. He came back with a tiny bit of processed guacamole In a pot. I queried this but he insisted that was how it was served and referred to it as mashed avocado, which it clearly wasn't. I didn't eat it. It wasn't what the menu promised me. I ordered further prosecco which took a long time to arrive. The entire visit was disappointing, at no point did I feel that my custom was appreciated or valued. Will explore other options in future before heading straight there.

Lovely cosy and warm pub with open fire. Landlord was friendly, and brought our drinks to our table.Great place to take the dog after a walk along the river. Evan got your own bowl of water for the dog. Definitely worth a visit.

The location is what makes this pub good especially on the nice day we arrived quite late in afternoon and only had a drink but we found the staff friendly and still willing to put the effort in. So well done

Waited ages to get a drink yesterday. Again! The queues for upstairs & downstairs were ridiculous. Why can’t you just employ more bar staff? The pub is in a great location - but you really let yourself down with the service. Quite a few people saw the length of the queue, turned around and left!

Comfortable place. Not very busy on our visit so quick service understandable. Friendly staff and a decent range of ales on offer. Good location but beware as there is no car park. This should not affect your decision to visit.

Sadly took an hour to finally get food not offered a drink as seated and had to chase the waiter there were only 4 tables occupied at this point overall sad anniversary lunch for 37 years wouldn't come back

Overall - location 10/10 - food 6/10 - service non existent. We visited yesterday (07/05) - location is second to none, we had the end table right on the river, however service and timings were questionable. My partner waited 30 minutes in line for a drink, ordered our food, he’s came (the wings were likewarm) and he finished it and he went to get us another drink before mine was served! By the time he came back I nearly finsished my meal (Cajun chicken burger) I asked for sauces and was told they were by the bar, no one offered to grab them or anything. It was a bank holiday and you were severely understaffed. Surely you checked the weather and saw what a beautiful day it was going to be to plan staff rota’s accordingly?

Lovely setting on the Thames. Good food although my roast beef wasn't top notch, but the veggies were, as was the Yorkshire Pudding. Very disappointed in the Baked Cheesecake. It was tasteless! Service was poor as waiting staff preferred to stand around chatting!

I've been here many times over the years. It's got an amazing location and at last it's aspect is being used to it's full potential. On my last visit the food was very good and the waiter who brought it to the ouside table was very cheerful, professional and polite. However, the bar staff and the staff at the outdoor food cabin could benefit from some more training in customer service.

Amazing venue even better in summer when u can sit out. Each table lit by a little oil lamp. Highly recommend tuna steak on the hot rock u cook yourself to your own perfection. Lovely staff first class menu and food . Love it here 💝

I came for lunch this afternoon as a group of 11 for my sisters birthday and was very impressed! The food was lovely, it didn't take long at all to arrive considering we were quite a large table and service was brilliant! Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough to help and were ever so kind when I apologised for the mess my two year old had left! Highly recommend :)

We are regular customers at The Nags. It's our favourite summer pub - awesome food & a fabulous outdoor area! (& Super dog friendly, what more could a girl want). Decided to come along for the outdoor cinema tonight to give it a try as a winter pub! Lovely. Plenty of patio heaters so definitely warm enough, lovely ambience, great pizza & an outdoor bar! I ask you again, what more could a girl want!
