Review Cricketts Inn - Acresford

I hadn't been in here for so long (about 20 years at least) I wasn't sure what to expect.... I wasn't disappointed. The outside of the pub was more or less as I remember it with a massive field that could do with a trim. Maybe some charging pods would be a smart idea? On entry the pub was clean and welcoming, and we got greeted very nicely on entry - with a smile and hello. The drink selection was great and served as should be if I could have written the spec. The menu though is (physically) large (oversized) which is a little bit old hat, but does hint at gastro pub.... Until you laminate it and make it feel like a canteen menu. Small thing but better to leave things none laminated so that guests can experience the texture of the paper if thats the feeling you're aiming for. The food was hot fresh and tasty all round, with only small niggles. The pastry on the pie was overbaked, the peppercorn sauce way too thick with entirely too many peppercorns running through it. However overall, really delicious for all 4 of us. The till needs sorting out so that the bills are either itemised or not - when it came it looked really dodgy with multiple button presses and none related descriptors. Overall a really pleasant experience with lovely attentive service and good quality food and drink. Just a couple of tips to make it a perfect experience. A great choice after all these years - and if this is what I can expect, we will be back.

Honestly, a really lovely pub. The menu is top notch with very good vegetarian options. There is something for everyone. I had the Halloumi Bites and the Fish & Chips, I added peppercorn sauce. The food came out quickly, was very very tasty and very reasonably priced. This really is a local gem. Fantastic. Thank you for the amazing food and even better service. This pub is dog friendly. Come see for yourself :)

Just had an excellent meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday. First visit this year but will definitely go again. Good menu, great food and very attentive staff. It’s a shame there wasn’t a fire in the large, feature (empty) fireplace in the main dining room.

We planned a large surprise birthday meal here in September 23. The pub communicated throughout the planning and we’re very accommodating. We had the garden room area to ourselves which was great especially as we had children in the party. Food was very good, desserts even better! The staff were friendly and very accommodating to our requests and needs. Definitely recommend a visit.

Lovely place for food, with period dining area, full bar and barista station for coffees and hot drinks. Beer garden is nice for mild weather, plenty of parking on site.

We've driven past this pub wanting to go in for the past year, we finally did yesterday and it didn't disappoint! We shared the nacho and mezze platter sharers, along with the halloumi starter and a side of chips. Can't fault any of it, it all tasted amazing. We're veggie and the options for veggies and vegans are really good, especially compared to big corporate restaurants! 100% recommend, we'll be back for more (the Sunday lunch is definitely calling our names)!

Four of us each had different meals from the Sunday lunch menu. No complaints from any of us, we all really enjoyed it. Nice that cauliflower cheese is included in the price which is very reasonable considering the price. Will definitely return.

We visited them on Monday (03.07.2023.) evening. Small family with 2 small kids. Positive: Parking easy, no headache. Entrance great! They also got garden area with roof now. Staff spot on. They there when you need them. The food was really-really good! Crispy chicken burger with chips and so on. It was very nice .Since the owner changed, the food is bang on. Negative point: The waitress could wait until we sit done and then take the drink order. I mean we were standing around the table and she was asking for drinks order straight away. - but its nota biggie at all. Still 5 star,. Happy to re-visit them again!

Excellent food with fast service and lovely staff. The atmosphere was perfect and gave the place a good vibe. I really enjoyed the food and can recommend the chicken pepper mayonnaise sandwich and the prawn cocktail. Huge range of food and drinks. An altogether lovely restaurant.

Just been today,3 Sunday dinners one was gluten free all delicious plus a vegan pie. Can't fault any of it. The place was very busy,we loved it. Definitely be back Thanks xx

Amazing pizza, wonderful surroundings. I was waiting for my car to get ceramic coating done at PP Protect who suggested I can stay at this place. The customer service is on a proper restaurant level, they know their food well. Asked how the food was just after serving and after. I was sat in the corner away from other customers yet nobody forgot about me. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area and fancy some nice food. I’ve seen other plates with steaks coming out of the kitchen and they looked amazing!

We booked for 26 people for a leaving party and I have to say everyone enjoyed their meals! Service was absolutely fantastic all meals came out at the same time, everything was cooked to how we asked, one of our party had been to Marco Pierre Whites restaurant in London the week before and she said her steak at The Cricketts was better than that!! The GF cod & chips went down a treat for another of our party. The prices were really affordable as well, we went on the steak night ( wed) 2for £14 well worth it. Thoroughly recommend The Cricketts, we did and will definitely be going again. Well done to all staff and Thankyou Chelsea for helping me sort all the orders out ☺️☺️

Just wanted to say what a wonderful dining experience we had with yourselves this evening. Living local we have eaten here on many occasions and normally I would say it's alright not bad not fantastic. But having visited this evening I have to say it was excellent. The Cajun chicken with rosemary waffles were a brilliant combination and desserts were wonderful as always. The new waitress who served us was so attentive and friendly a real credit to you and completed the dining experience for us. Really did make our evening Thank you :)
