Caffe Primo Grote Street

Shu Tang met my high expectations when four of us had dinner here on Monday night 21/06/2021. This restaurant is perfect for entertaining with its impressive high ceilings, elegant interiors, private rooms and ample double storey seatings. We ordered seven dishes to go with steam rice and although no dish was so outstanding that it could be called a famous signature dish, every dish was very well cooked and totally delicious. The Shanghainese onion pancake is thin and crispy and probably the best in Adelaide. We enjoyed the dinner very much and will be back.

I recommend all spicy food lovers come to this restaurant! If you are not, you can still enjoy other non spicy dishes. They’re all amazing. Service team is really friendly and helpful with customers. Also, the manager is a kind gentleman, not as harsh as the comment says before. Not sure if he’s the same one tho :)

Good environment and great service although we were asked to leave (in a polite way) before 6.30pm because the restaurant sets 1.5 hours for each dining table. Delicious speaking of most of the dishes ordered. Particularly like the stewed beef in sour soup(酸汤肥牛) which is spicy and sour and with crunchy white radish. Pork ribs are tasty. However, the roasted whole fish (barramundi) is too salty and covers other flavours of the vegetables and herbs. The desserts are good as well such as the glutinous rice cake with brown sugar caramel(红糖糍粑) and fried sweet corn. Would come again and recommend to others generally speaking.

A beautiful restaurant, great service. The food is good for most parts. The prices are on the higher side though. They also cook fresh seafood right out of the tanks which can be seen from the dining room Not a big fan of the soft shell crab as it hardly tasted of crab, had too much batter. The salt and pepper prawns were better. The hot and sour soup was a huge size enough for about 5 people, and the fish in chilli broth tasted great with the fish melting in the mouth. Good place to go to for special occasions or to entertain someone.
