David Jones

Ok, everyone knows the DJ's is a very nice (and expensive) store, selling some very nice (and expensive) stuff. But have you ever visited the restrooms? I can't vouch for the men's, but the ladies is divine! Note first that they're called "restrooms", not toilets. There's a difference, and you'll understand as soon as you step inside. The ladies is decorated in a lovely relaxing pink hue. There's an actual shelf to put your bag& stuff on, so you don't need to put it on the floor. Plenty of clean and we'll maintained facilities. Handy full length mirror to check your look. And then there's the lounge area. A comfy sofa and a couple of chairs, and an area where you can sit and touch up your makeup, without the bother of people trying to wash their hands right next to you. Take a few minutes extra to just rest, regroup, and get ready for the next round of bargain shopping. Do yourself a favour and visit.

I visited David Jones to purchase SK-II for Mother’s Day but felt unsure because the product I was looking for was out of stock. Luckily Olivia (hope I got the name correct) the girl with short hair and cool nails, offered to help; she was welcoming and knowledgable on the products I was viewing which greatly helped me in making a purchase decision. Overall, she provided excellent customer service and am thankful for her help :)

In the past, I’ve enjoyed shopping at David Jones in Rundle Mall but I’ve just found lately that some staff are either just rude, disinterested in assisting customers, or plainly have no customer service skills. Today, I was really unhappy with the level of service provided. There was a staff member just standing and talking on a mobile phone about personal matters on the floor in the homeware’s department, and on the ground floor about five employees were just standing around and talking to each other and not assisting customers. This isn’t inherently bad, but I expect this level of service at Kmart, not David Jones. I didn’t feel welcomed in the store and it just put me off making purchases. The woman who worked up in the liquor section tonight was very nice though, props to her.

This store has everything that you might want or need it to have. The issue is the poor attitude of the staff. They clearly believe that they are superior to those who would deign to visit their domain. They can barely bring themselves to speak to you and obviously prefer to continue their conversations with their colleagues than actually serve a customer. I previously bought from the online store and would only buy there again going forward. Maybe the management could carry out some well needed training and remind the staff that customers do have a right to be there

Have had more than a few very bad experiences with the virtual assistant when trying to phone a store for product availability. Not once has it recognized a brand and will not direct your call to the store required without a brand name ( which it still can’t recognize) It would be a much better customer experience if a real person could answer the call and please get rid of that horrible music whilst on hold for the usual 10 minutes plus .

I love David Jones in Adelaide - they have the best selection of cosmetics, clothing, accessories and specialised food. For a top shop, their prices are competitive and customer service is top notch. Have only praise for the department store and the shopping experience, I could browse in the store for hours.
