Cowandilla Charcoal Chicken

Used to be the best take out, best chips, best everything. Now, looks like the love has GONE !! Chips are the worse, not the same as when they first started. They burn EVERYTHING !!. Burgers are all burnt and I mean BLACK burnt to death. Potato oven bake oily and again burnt. Salads all old and wilted. Used to go there often, but gave up a long time ago. Now the Fish and chip place down the road is it for me. Fresh burgers and cooked nicely. Pity that the Chicken shop has lost interest in their customers. The food is bad. Or maybe the owner should talk to his staff. My dog refused to eat the burnt burger. What does that tell you !!

customer: can i have my chips… staff: yep customer: well done and also can i get extra… staff: yep customer: chicken salt please chips were under done with 90% being soft and very under salted. potato bake was too oily for my liking and this experience is enough to make me never come back. flexible with the order when i asked to have a small bag of chips put into 2 bags as i was sharing with a work mate. end result has left me dissatisfied with my lunch break at work and 100% wouldn’t go back. roasts and veges was served to customers before me and it looked like excellent value and enticing but the above experience mentioned is enough to not bother trying it or anything else. hopefully for the regulars my experience was just a 1 off.

I ordered a hot pack over the phone, made it really specific I would like crackling, verified it 3 times. A young gentleman called me to the counter to collect my order, I tapped my card he walked off. I started walking away then with a woman yelling at me 'you haven't paid, you haven't paid" I walked back tappedbmy card again, completely embarrassed with the way she was yellng. I come home and not one bit of crackling. NOT ONE. My phone rang cowandilla charcoal chicken comes up, hangs up. I ring back Emanuel answers the phone. Apparently I cut in front of a customer, he walking off isn't his fault as he is a minor. And they are Greeks they speak loud and yell . I've never in all my 15 years heard Chris speak loud. I would not be going back again, I have noticed in the last few years the quality of service decline. The service is disgraceful now and you don't get what you ordered. Also according to Emanuel, it okay he doenst know how to use the eptos machine because he's greek they greeks can yell. Open your order up before you leave. You've lost another long time customer, Chris. A minor as he referred to himself can't handle an eptos machine and believes Greeks are allowed to yell. Disgraceful. 24 hours later received a call from a woman at cowandilla charcoal chicken stating I had called an ordered tonight. No, I didn't I have phone records to prove it. Obviously it's going in one ear and out the other because I spoke to Chris this morning.

Best Schnitzel packs... Make sure your hungry because they're big! I dropped a star because I think their chickens could be cooked a bit more for my liking. Great shop though. I'm in my 40's and used to visit this gem of a take away shop with my grandma when I was about 7 or 8 years old. One thing I can never work out about the shop is the clock on the wall ... See attached pic... Bizarre 😃

Roast pack is just meat and chips now without pees and gravy. Always used to include pees and gravy. When I got home and was looking at a box of dry meat I phoned and they said you need to ask for the pees and gravy. So take care when ordering to be clear what you want. They offered to give me some if I came and got it. Not sure what is happening at this place as it was never like this before. Family liked the burger. Chips were nice.
