Beautiful hotel, genuinely lovely staff and very good location. It was very pretty and could be fantastic for a little weekend getaway.
The rooms need an update, the beds were so uncomfortable and the rooms very hot. Also, the maintenance and cleanliness could do with a little look into. There were cobwebs throughout the rooms and dust in a lot of spots, unfortunately. There were also different colour light bulbs in the wall lamps which whilst not really an issue was quite odd!
First golfing trip away with our club, course was brilliant, greens really good. Service in the hotel was faultless, food choice and quality again really good. We would have no hesitation in returning.
This was my third year going.and it was good. The bar & restaurant staff were brilliant with our group. As for the gol course I was impressed with the layout. But not the condition in some places ( but that's golf ) the greens were challenging. The bunkers .if your honest could do with some decent sand in them to give you at least a chance of not digging them out of concrete. But overall. As a golfer . It's a serious challenge & test of whatever level of golf your at.
Had a really enjoyable round of golf here. The course was in good condition and it was more challenging than the scorecard might suggest. The greens rolled true but were a little slower than I'd expected. The food in the bar was nice and not overly expensive. Didn't stay at the hotel but from what we could see it looked very pleasant.
Stay was short but we have stayed many times and the golf course is great. Restaurant struggles at times with large groups and can get noisy with the low ceilings,, cooked food and breakfast has a good selection.
Staff are now excellent and cannot do enough for you.
Rooms are clean and tidy but 3 star is best rating
We had afternoon tea here. It was superb and plenty of it: fresh sandwiches with a range of fillings; amazing cakes, all home-made. Welcoming staff all happy and willing to serve. Really recommend this smashing place.
I went to Thorpeness G&CC for 2 rounds of golf and an overnight stay. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The evening meal and following morning breakfast had plenty of choice and the food was excellent. At all times the staff were pleasant and helpful. Despite the recent very hot and dry conditions the golf course was in great order.
Great couple of days. Can’t wait to visit Thorpeness again.

The Golf Course is a monument to Traditional Golf. Loved every minute of my stay.
This is a little gem of a hotel in a gem of a place. It may seem like it is living in a a more genteel ers, but Thorpeness is such a lovely place and the hotel is very much a part of Thorpeness. The staff are really friendly and very helpful especially Keeley who made our stay a lot more comfortable for my companion who had recently had knee surgery. We would agree with previous descriptions of the rooms but we had french windows onto a shared balcony and a view which made it all worthwhile. We can definitely recommend staying here for a peaceful and relaxing time away from the madding crowd.
Stayed here a few times now but it's good to see it's getting refreshed. It's in a great spot and is always good value. Breakfast decent as well and staff are always friendly
