Lovely food, generous portions and absolutely lovely and friendly team working here. Great bit of history behind the pub, definitely worth a visit. They also have different deals on each day, which is a pleasant surprise.

Traditional pub. Lots of character, plenty of outdoor seating, was Paul O'Gradys local. A friendly cat enjoyed some fish from our serving of fish and chips! Had to park nearby as the car park was full.

Stopped in for food on the way back from Battle. Arrived 20 mins before service began. A member of staff was quick to attend us and explain we were early. Main bar was quite full so allowed to sit in the restaurant ahead of opening. We had unwittingly arrived on Wacky Wednesday, which meant there was a free desert or starter with each main meal. Can highly recommend the Grillstones, that allows you to cook your choice of meat to your liking at the table. Portions sizes were large. Highly recommend. There is also a connected kerb 7kw EV charger in the town hall car park across the road, which we used to top up whilst we ate.

My husband and I went out for a lunch date, staff were very polite and friendly and had a good knowledge of specials and the food served generally. Had a steak that you cook yourself at the table it was a fun experience something different and tasty. Very good value for money they offer a good range of meals at a budget price and starter and main deals for £12. Beautiful pub, has great outside space with a play area for children, look forward to visiting in the summer with the children

First time visiting this establishment, it won't be the last. Four of us and not one complaint. Food excellent, beer really tasty. We have lived in the area for a while and question now why we have waited so long. Highly recommend a visit.

We had a fabulous meal and sat outside in the quiet pretty garden. Wonderful place with great amenities. Warm, friendly and attentive staff. Will come again. Many thanks. Matt

I had a queen roast dinner and I was not disappointed with the portion size, a 5 meat plate of food with separate veg out standing 👍

Had the best vegetarian lasagne I've ever had. The whole family had no complaints about the food, the service or the very reasonable bill. They do a Monday Madness special menu at £8.95 for two courses...brilliant! Really recommend this lovely country pub!

We went here after visiting port lympne safari park. Great food and great value. Three kids (aged 3, 4 & 6) were happy with the children's menu. Good ale too. There's a playground / park outside that the kids really enjoyed too.

On December the 20th 2022 A friend recommended to go to the walnut tree. My friend and myself had a wonderful evening the food was amazing, I had the belly pork new potatoes and veg which was absolutely lovely and my friend had a steak which you cook yourself. The staff are very friendly couldn't do enough for us went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Thank you so much We we'll be coming back. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

We walked to the walnut tree and we were booked at the farriers for a meal. Proper messed up. Got a drink and had a chat with bar staff about our situation and late taxi would have meant missing our booking. Then a lovely person called Karen offered us a lift and hey presto we're back on track about to have our lovely meal. Thanks the walnut 👍

A lovely meal today for my husband's birthday. The staff were friendly and the roast dinner was lovely as were the puddings. The pub itself is really cosy as well, with such an interesting history.

We came to celebrate my mums 50th birthday and loved it. Very friendly staff, the food was yummy and very good size portions! Will definately go back highly recommended x

Lovely old pub, great atmosphere, lovely people,great menu and great food, all homemade by what I could make out, the bacon and onion roll was lovely and just how I remember it to be. Keep up the good work, can't wait to visit again

This is an old pub. The food is lovely and very good value. Staff are friendly. I recommend it. My only negative is the coal fire, which is a plus to many, but it does mean that you leave as smoked as a kipper! 😅

Had meal here for very first time an it most def wont be the last ! Food was lovely , so much choice on the menu I didn't know what to have , I wanted it all ! Great friendly welcome from all the staff an owner too !

Today, The Walnut Tree hosted my son's Christening lunch buffet. The staff were brilliant; accomodating & friendly... nothing was too much trouble. There was soooo much food which was complimented by my guests. We were fortunate to have a warm sunny day, so many of us were sat out in the sizable beer garden where the children could run off some steam and play with the garden toys. We have had a wonderful day... it was perfect. thank you!!!

Went along tonight for meal as part of party of 22. Great food, good size portions, piping hot ( not easy with such a large party) and value for money. Special thanks to the 2 young girls who waited at table. Both were extremely friendly and efficient. Will be back

We came for lunch yesterday for our wedding anniversary, the food was superb and excellent value for money and the coal fire was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great little pub, and I love the cooking of the steak on a griddle stone at the table. The fact that you cook the steak yourself on the stone means you get it exactly as you like it, I will visit again. Thank you �

Had a fantastic vegetarian Sunday roast today! The rest of the family had normal roast. Absolutely delicious! Great friendly service, great food! Highly recommend !!!
