Lilburn's

I don't have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to extole the virtues of this restaurant. The food was stunning, the staff attentive though not obtrusive and the atmosphere was superb. We normally have dinner at the hotel we always stay in in Alnwick which is why we've never visited before. That's all changed. We will be recommending this place to everyone we know who goes to Alnwick. Having a chat with the chef after the meal showed us exactly what the ethic of the place is, seasonality and locally sourced.

We had an excellent meal. The staff we’re welcoming and friendly with great service. Price was reasonable especially for the portions which were great. Food looked and tasted amazing for both vegetarian and meat eaters alike. Menu was extensive and full of good local produce. A definite winner in our eyes.

This was my favourite restaurant on my trip to Alnwick. The chef used to work for the Duke in the past and I'm not surprised. The food was cooked fresh right next to where we sat. It was excellent. The lamb and duck dishes were amazing The owners clearly have a passion for what they do and are very friendly and chatty. I'd definitely recommend try Lilburns out at least once on your trip.

On a foul night, with two of our number having just completed the Macmillan Mighty Hike, and we being an hour late for our booking (having warned them), we were greeted with warmth and understanding; and when one of the walkers had what could have been a medical emergency, all the staff were attentive but not intrusive (we had medics in our group). They were lovely and good-humoured throughout on a busy evening. Oh...and the food was excellent - great choice, with plenty of modestly priced dishes, and a great-sounding a la carte menu too. We went away happy bunnies, and will return!!
