Arrived after a long drive, parked out the front of the hotel. Went in to book in, greeted by a friendly funny and helpful young man. Asked about parking and was given perfect easy instructions to follow.
Went up to our room, and was really pleased. The room was warm and beautifully decorated. Everything was very clean and we were very impressed.
I LOVED the fact that there was Hot Chocolate sachets in the room as we don't drink tea or coffee. Added bonus of a couple of little packs of biscuits. Very welcome after our drive.
Slept really well on the double bed, very comfy indeed.
Went down to breakfast in the morning, we were seated straight away and told to help ourselves to the buffet part of breakfast, perfect selection of cereal, juice, fresh fruit, toast, and various jams and marmalade, also yoghurt with fruit compote as well as some Danish pastries. As we sat back down were we asked about our cooked breakfast, which arrived perfectly a few mins after we had finished our cereal. It was very very good. How refreshing to have decent quality sausages. And more than enough on the plate.
Offered tea and coffee as well.
Overall it was a very comfortable stay with lovely rooms great food and friendly staff.
Would I recommend this hotel.....absolutley!
Went to the swan as a party of 4
We all had a three course meal and most deff would say 100% improvement from the last visit staff Were 100% on top form and catered for all r needs the food was absolutely to die for we could not fault the three course meal any way shape or form if this is the new way at the swan then I'm shore it won't be long before people will be queueing out the door to sit and dine inn keep up the good work all 4 of us couldn't fault are meals from starter to main to pudding well done all at the SWAN

We are so lucky in Alton to have The Swan, we can pop in any time of the day and have a very reasonably priced meal, children are well catered for. I'm always in The Swan, such value for money, The staff are so kind and accommodating, for me this is the place to have a very good time with the family
Popped in the swan today with my financee and had a great fish pie while my other half had gammon and chips both meals were great and staff were very friendly and helpful so we will be going back very soon

Had a lovely few days here with my granddaughter who has never stayed in a hotel before, she loved it so much she didn't want to give the key to our room back coup room was on the ground floor so easy to get to ,it was very clean and comfortable ,staff were great very helpful,I did have a little problem with my bill but that was put right by the manager as soon as it came to his attention ,and he called me personally ,will definitely stay here again ,and fingers crossed will get the same room as promised to my granddaughter .
Great food, great service from Josh and Tyler, nothing to much trouble, really enjoyed celebrating Mum and Dads 60th with you guys. οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½
First time in here and won't be the last, friendly staff comfy chairs, didn't have any food but will next time

Brilliant meals today at the Swan!! Great Lamb, great Sizzling Chicken Fajitas, great Bacon and Chicken Special, and excellent bangers, chips n peas!! The staff are working their socks off today, great job!! great service, and great Food!!
Lovely food in the restaurant and room is lovely too. Staff are very good, not in your face and give plenty of time between courses, but not too long. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I love this place, nice service and the food is good. Every time we visit from Mexico we stay there. We loved to visit Alton.
Good size rooms. Chilly and drafty, but extra heater provided. Nice hotel and room was cleaned daily.
Good dining, free parking for guests.

A large number of our wedding guests stayed at the Swan Hotel back in August. The hotel was absolutely brilliant throughout the whole process. Particularly Bethany who was an absolute dream. She organised all the rooms for me, dealt with a number of last minute changes, and made sure all the guests checked in ok during a short period of time on our wedding day. Bethany was so friendly, nothing was too much trouble and she made me feel completely at ease. All the guests said the service was fantastic too and the rooms were lovely. Thank you so much Bethany and to the rest of the staff at the Swan Hotel.
Stayed there last week, unfortunately the room I was meant to go in was unavailable. So the lady on the desk upgraded me to the 'Old English suite' with no hesitation. What a Gem! I would highly recommend
Firstly, disappointed in seeing other reviews showing the complete opposite of what we have experienced. First thing first, Staff...'Beth', reception Manager greets you with a massive smile everytime without fail! We have stayed here 4 times in the last 3 months, when we walked in again this week, she instantly recognised us and nothing is too much trouble. Location is perfect for centre of Alton. Menus and pricing is fair and can't complain. Rooms are great, comfy beds, great pillows, warm and plenty of toiletries, paper, shower gel etc. WiFi great too. Building is old but it doesn't reflect badly on the decor or style, it has a fantastic great character, clean and stylish 'you can be old and still good looking'
We always stay here when we visit and we have never experienced anything less than 5 star service from Beth & J (the nice taller gentleman I can't remember his name sorry) and the other staff.

Great location, rooms are clean and comfortable and well equipped. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Good selection of food and drinks available. I will be staying again.
The hotel and restaurant were everything I needed for this trip: covered all the basics really well and I slept better here than I had in any other hotel I'd visited in the last month.
The people were lovely too, great customer service received and seen. A nice stay, thank you.
Very welcoming stay, staff were excellent without exception. Room was nice, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Full English Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended
The staff at the Swan Hotel are friendly and welcoming, and they go out of their way to make sure that guests have a pleasant stay.

Great location in the centre of Alton.
Nice hotel /restaurant /bar, prices for food and drinks aren't bad, nice old feeling about the place and the room for the night was a good size and clean, however it's an old building with lots of charm and that shows in the decor which was lacking in certain areas, if this building had a good reverb it would really stand out and I'm sure attract lots more attention from the paying customer, overall not a bad place to visit.
A surprisingly large hotel. The room was comfortable if a bit dark. Some toiletries would have been nice.
