I visited Stones on an average rainy Thursday, and walked in with just the intention of having a quick and easy coffee, with maybe a bite to eat. I walked in and looked at the menu. It is clear and easy to read, with prices listed and ingredients too. I saw they offered an all day breakfast for only £6.60, which I thought I had to try. I approached the counter and had to wait for a few moments, as there appeared to be only 1 person in the kitchen who looked to be cooking, which is acceptable. After only about a minute, the presumably chef walked up to me and was quite abrupt but I didn't really mind. I ordered a coffee and my all day breakfast, which only cost £9.60 total, which is much better than a lot of other places I have been too. I paid by card and took a seat in one of the booths. The tables and seats were clean, which is extremely nice to have. It is an extremely comfortable seat, but it isn't the biggest, which was fine because I was on my own. I took a seat and got my laptop out to get on with my college work when my coffee was delivered which was extremely quick to come out.. I then did a few minutes of work before my food came out and it looked very appetising. You get a good amount of food for your money, and the taste did not disappoint. There is salt, pepper, ketchup and vinegar on your table but you do get offered if you want any other sauce when they bring the food over. Overall, I very much liked the food and have no complaints about it.. It wasn't busy when I visited, so that could explain the quick service times. I am extremely please with Stones and would definetely visit again.
Really enjoyed my meal here, the place looks fresh and modern. The food was great and a fair price. This will be my new regular for Weekend breakfasts.
Nice, clean and fresh food. Asked for cash which is understandable due to fees for cards. Part paid cash and card.
They catered for 9 people all eating and drinking different things with no notice during a busy lunchtime. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. Lovely service from all of the staff, very clean and very reasonably priced. Thank you 😊
Personally I cannot fault them! Never had a bad lunch, busier times do take slightly longer but no more than 20 minutes. They are very accommodating for my 5 year old, always making her smile or giggle. We have mostly paid by cash but in times I have had no cash just card they have been fine.
More pleasant than Costa or Cafe Nero but beware they will try to get you to pay cash even though they do have a card machine.
That's how the breakfast should be. Staff could smile a little bit more buy Hey, this is not USA - nobody will try to make you fill good if it is not mutual.
great coffee, tasty food, and friendly owner/staff
Really nice food, reasonable prices. Not overcrowded and pleasant for a village cafe.

Amazed to find so many cafes closed in Alton over the Christmas and New Year period, however Stones was open and it has a modern feel, and seating is mostly in booths which provides some privacy.
The menu is extensive, and meals are made to order. There is something for everyone.
There is also a selection of cakes and pastries if you just wanted a cup of tea or coffee. Prices are reasonable.
There are toilets available and good wheelchair accessibility.
