Thanks, guys, for laying on such a great carvery lunch for our walking group today!! Everyone said what an excellent meal it was - great value and many said the best carvery for a long time. The beef was particularly good and the veggies were impressed with having a choice! Sorry we were a bit late but thanks for catering for us so well. We would thoroughly recommend the Excavator to others.
To dog friendly, got my drink ordered food went back outside, Loki has a nice big bowl of water and a bowl of food, now I know why he dragged me there ����
A little slow to order food even tho it was empty, one of the staff members seamed oblivious to us even being there compared to the other but were both polite. Food was good, tasted fresh and large portions. Place was clean enough but the toilets need a good dust inside the cubicles.
I really enjoyed the carvery the turkey is beautifully cooked. Lots of choice the staff are really polite and helpful . I like the fact that u have vegan ice cream. Which helps me choose my desserts. Which on both times I have enjoyed my desserts. I personally thanked the chef when I saw him the first time we came. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I look forward to next time .
My mum and I went for some lunch and we were very very impressed!!! Amazing and polite staff, the food came quickly and the quality was excellent, great portion sizes as well. There is definitely something on the menu for everyone, such a wide range of food for all tastes and dietary requirements. We would definitely recommend and will be going back soon!
Staff are very attentive and although this was only my 2nd visit, I will definitely be visiting again. The menu is extensive and cooked freshly, with the mega mixed grill being fab value for money. The food was cooked perfectly and it was surprisingly quiet. I will 100% recommend this restaurant to others
Was greeted and seated very quickly.
When at the bar was served after another customer who had arrived after me- which was a bit annoying.
10 min queue for food but it was worth it!
Food hot and delicious- I had a vegetarian option which was huge!
Lots of waiting staff which was good as they were quick to help with wiping do the table and making sure we had cutlery etc-
Will definitely return and nice to did a place which is dog Friendly- so will bring her next time!
Booked online early this morning and was pleased to then hear there was space for me, husband and 2 kids. We arrived at 1pm, beating the rush, enjoyed the carvery for 3 and 1 steak and ale pie, all Delicious!
Youngest wasn't too happy to be leaving without ice cream but the 2 ladies offered us 2 small ice cream cups to take with us for free! Thank you for the above and beyond service!

The food was amazing. Usually I find roast beef to be undercooked in restaurants but yours was perfect, well done and very tender. The gammon was tasty, the vegetables were well received and the unexpected red cabbage was a treat.
I wasn’t too happy with the tart, it was too heavy, but overall I enjoyed the meal.

The food is delicious!! There's never a long wait. Staff are particularly attentive. I always feel as if I'm a friend when I go there. An excellent venue!
Delicious steak and ribs. The staff were courteous and polite. The apple crumble and custard just hit the spot.. the restaurant was clean tidy and inviting. Dog friendly area. Couldn’t fault it. Brilliant service. Thanks
