Review The Black Horse - Amberley

Had a lovely nights stay here after completing a leg of the south downs way. Staff very welcoming, room beautiful and the restaurant food is delicious. Some lovely savory tarts for sale at the bar and a Special shout out to who ever makes the scotch eggs ....divine and a runny yolk!!! I'll be back for more!

Fabulous Sunday lunch today. Stayed in the area for the weekend and ate in a number of pubs - this was the best. Beer selection very good too. Highly recommended and the menu looks very good for the rest of the week too. Would definitely stay here (the pub has rooms) if we came back and stayed in the area as Amberley village is gorgeous and there are lots of good walks close by.

Was a beautiful spot to stay, the staff are all super friendly and accommodating. The dinner and breakfast we had were both delicious. The room had a fantastic charm to it whilst still having all the modern luxuries the only downside was the shower had no base/partition in it so the water just leaked across the entire bathroom floor and into the edge of the carpet of the room but we notified the staff and the said they would look into it and apologized for any inconvenience. The only downside on the service was on the morning of our departure we arrived at breakfast 10min early of our booking time which seem to annoy the staff member handling breakfast alot more than one would expect. We politely apologised and returned 10 minutes later to find 4 other couples seated with drinks and one table even had food which led us to believe these tables would have had to have also arrived earlier than the booking time so abit strange than they where allowed to sit and we where not. This then meant we where the last to receive our meals and we waited a fair while for the rest of the tables to receive their meals. Other than the "odd" experience at breakfast the Amberly black horse was a wonderful place to stay and the village was picturesque and a fun place to go for a walk and do some exploring highly recommend!

Without doubt THE best pub roast I have ever had. Beautiful pub, clean tidy lovely decor, staff very friendly and attentive. Great selection of foods and wines to match. Nice garden for drinks in the sunshine. Highly recommend 👌🏽

An excellent lunch. Good service, food and beer 🍺 at a good price. Nice old building, well-maintained and a good atmosphere. So good in fact we are going again tomorrow.

Lovely menu options and a perfect setting for lunch. We had a two-course lunch and it was delicious, beautiful mushroom and truffle soup and the roasted half chicken was yummy !! Highly recommended.

Really fabulous dining pub. The Cajun pork dish was one of the best things we have ever eaten. Beautiful inside with views of the downs from the garden and the only place open late on a Sunday for food. Delicious wine, looking forward to coming back and staying a night!

Passing through over weekend doing a bit of house hunting and came across this place by chance. Lovely atmosphere, we were just going to stop for a quick drink. Ended up having a full lunch, their samosas and rib eye steak was OUTSTANDING :) Will definitely visit again, thank you.

Lovely pub with friendly and helpful staff. Great beer garden. Didnt have time for food but it looked good! Could have been even better if it had proper bike locking staples. Does have bike storage but can only lock front wheel, no frame...

We had a good night staying in the Black Horse. The staff were pleasant. The room was nice. We had the attic room , which was nicely presented, although had very sloping ceilings, and one window looks out on a kitchen vent, so it was a little noisy. However we slept well. The Nespresso was a nice bonus. We ate a delicious bar snack of baked cheese and enjoyed a local beer

We dined here twice. The second time the food and service were very good. On the first occasion my husband loved his fish and chips which indeed was a great dish.

My husband and I are staying at Amberley Castle and walked over to the Black Horse Pub for dinner. Our food was delicious and our server was very friendly and nice. We had a great evening and recommend dining here.

We celebrated our 'micro' wedding here on Good Friday. Cannot fault anything! From the initial booking, the menus prepared for us by Tom, and everything that Hayley, Josh, Anais and the rest of the team did to make our stays (we had 9 of the rooms) and the meal perfect. The food was excellent and the whole team were so friendly and genuinely enjoyed our day with us. Thank you xx

Lovely restaurent that serves pub food in idyllic village of Amberley. It has obviously been recently refurbished and everything is new and clean. Food quality is above average and their special dishes( pie and soup) are of excellent value. Good atmosphere and good service. I will come again

Lovely pub with rooms. Great atmosphere with log fires at either end of the bar. We stayed overnight and ate dinner. The food was on the most part fantastic, baked camembert was lumpy, however, the steak was great! Excellent staff!
