The Royal Oak Resturant & Bar - Ambleside - Photo album

Great traditional pub, friendly atmosphere and one of the more reasonably priced establishments in Ambleside. Staff were welcoming. Though we don’t have a dog ourselves they were welcome in the pub. It was good to chat with other like minded customers about our exploits on the fells. A real friendly
Always liked this pub. Set off from the main drag so many tourists miss it. Great real ale selection. The Purity was a bit off so they changed it for the Swan. Very traditional inside and patio to the front.
Lovely pub, very dog friendly so fantastic for any walkers with 4 legged friends, they sell a good assortment for dogs to keep them content while at your feet. Food is good, nothing outstanding. Gents bathroom is very amusing with the floor going all sorts of ways when you go in, definitely not the
Excellent traditional pub with very friendly welcoming staff and a good menu. Serves a variety of real ales and gins amongst other things. Nice atmosphere and popular with the local community.
Great place, built in about 1600’s, have lots of character and quirkiness.
Poped in for a drink on a visit to the local area. Great relaxing atmosphere. Great staff. Great selection of drinks. Comfortable seating couldn't ask for much more. Can't wait to try in the summer. Very dog friendly.
Great cosy pub and loverly food and staff friendly. Guinness is top draw . Will return .
Absolutely fantastic little pub. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and attentive. We both had the fish and chips and it was cooked absolutely perfectly. The batter was crisp and golden and the chips were fresh and hot. Honestly this pub is a credit to the Greene King brand and we would
The Royal oak is a great place to have a drink and socialise l, we've eaten here a couple of times but they must have changed the chef today as its 100 times better then 1st time we had food here. Long may it continue.
Lovely pub for a post amble pint with the locals. Beer and service were excellent, Never stayed long enough to try the food but looked and smelled Lovely.. May need a 2nd visit to try the food.
Love it,, been coming here for numerous years and still love ut. Food is great,, service is great,, clean,, friendly,,, fabulous place.
Lovely friendly pub. Good beer (I had the Timothy Taylor Landlord which was well kept) and really nice food. My fish and chips was a good portion with fresh, creamy cod, and my partner's mac n cheese did not skimp on the the cheese. Also, just lovely friendly service from the staff. I cannot recomme
Had a lovely lunch here on a visit to Ambleside, Staff friendly and helpful, had the steak and ale pie it was delicious and plentiful. The food coming out, looked equally as good.
Delicious Roast, Friendly staff. Atmosphere I gave 4* just because, even though I like dogs, I don't think it's adequately hygienic to be eating with so many of them.
Warm welcoming pub with a good selection of drinks. Didn't eat food but the menu looked quite limited. Very dog friendly
What a great place for a Sunday roast! We popped in here by chance on Sunday after having booked a table elsewhere to find they weren't serving their roast. At the Royal Oak, we had a delicious Sunday dinner, and the pub had such a lovely atmosphere. Will happily return next time we're in the lakes.
Great wings, good selection of pints. Mac and cheese was also very tasty.
