The White Lion Hotel & Restaurant - Ambleside - Photo album

Popped into this pub with Ric " The Hat" McTwitty. Drinks only for us but lots of people eating so cannot comment on this other than cheaper than the Ambleside Inn opposite. A good selection of 5 real ales if you ignore Sharp's Doom Bar. The Dark Star ran out so had St Austell Proper Job Pale Ale. V
We all enjoyed our meals although there were a few issues. There was some confusion when the server misread the order and brought a child's portion. This was quickly resolved. One of our party mentioned that the parsnips were a little chewy. I didn't have parsnips but would've probably enjoyed them
Quite easy to order using the app. (Details at the tables). Service was a little slow but acceptable, food was ok. Average 'pub grub'.
First time to Ambleside and chose The White Lion for a Sunday lunch and OMG! Did we choose well, the rib of beef was amazing. Fully recommend! Literally fell off the bone! The staff were so welcoming and we enjoyed our experience so thank you so much!

Jess was wonderful. We had a lot of dietary requirements and made sure we could order what we wanted. She was so attentive and made our experience here amazing. All other staff we interacted with were also lovely. Definitely worth a visit at the end of a long wet walk.
Had a fantastic stay, we're made to feel so welcome. Jess, Gabby, Steve & all other staff were super friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were great, would highly recommend a stay there.
Great service and decent homely food. Served by Steve and team, very welcoming. Chef gabby was in the kitchen and team, great food. Had the mixed grill and kids had burger and pizza. Liked the fact you could ask for low carb options which was a bonus
Stayed for a night, perfect location for Ambleside town centre. Staff were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. Rooms for lovely, clean and spacious. Good pub food and breakfast was also lovely. Would recommend and will be back again.
3 star atmosphere because we were the only ones in there to start with. Popped in a touch early for lunch bur the staff were all lovely and the food was definitely worth the wait. Will most definitely be coming back on our next trip up there so keep it up
My partner and I had the best experience. We only had drinks on two evenings but found the staff to be absolutely lovely. Special shout outs to Grace, Hayden and Nick. All super friendly and polite, engaged in conversations and made us feel so incredibly welcome. We’ll most definitely be back when w
Went for an early lunch and the staff allowed us to order from the main menu. Food was nice and our dogs were welcomed. Pudding was the best bit.
Nice pub ambience. Placed our order at table through the internet menu by scanning a QR code. So cool!!! Food was good. Service was prompt. Prices are reasonable. Had a happy dinner.
Lovely hospitable service. Very welcoming! Meals were nice! Beef bourginone was a bit of a surprise as it was a piece of beef not a stew type meal. Would have liked more offers of drink service. drinks. Desserts were fantastic
We had the 3 course Sunday Lunch, it was superb honest freshly prepared pub grub. Excellently cooked meat especially the beef and plenty of it. We would come again.
