A lovely pub run by the National Trust. Proper comfy chairs, a nice log fire, treats for the dog and a good pint. Perfect after a trek up the Langdale pikes. We didn’t eat but the food being served looked excellent. Massive NT car park next door

Great pub, owned by the national trust and has been here since I can remember, they have always outdone themselves on beer selections and their loaded fries are amazing!!! I learnt here that Kale, my least favourite veg, when baked can create a perfect accompaniment to dirty fries. They are always really friendly and helpful and the walk up the back toward Stickle Tarn is one of the best in the valley, although not for the faint hearted as it is quite a climb/scramble up the top. I would say it’s an intermediate, but worth the effort. ———————————————————- *Update* So we ate here on our last evening up this week and OMG… the lamb burger was incredible… full of flavour and it just became the best meal ever when I upgraded my fries to their loaded fries… I could have literally eaten it twice… great reward for climbing up to Stickle Tarn.

Nice little pub, great if you've done a walk in the area. We had a nice local ale after a rather strenuous walk up to Pavey Ark. The food options are OK, we had some nice loaded fires, but there's too many vegan options tbh, takes up most of the menu- there was only one non-vegan burger option, and it was rather expensive. Nice warming place to come though, nice fire pit outside too, with a large adjacent carpark, which is also ran by the national trust.

Incredible place for food and to take in the view. We were staying at the Bunkhouse and enjoyed their poached egg and avocado toast for breakie. After hiking up to the tarn we had a plate of their delicious fries with chilli jam, cheese and kale. Perfect place, view, staff and food. Will defo be back and recommend it highly! Thank you

Sticklebarn is lovely pub run by the National Trust in Great Langdale. Most of the draught beers & lagers are from local breweries & prices cheaper than in Ambleside, Grasmere & Bowness-on-Windermere. Outside seating with fine views over the valley & fells, can't comment on the food as we only had drinks. Recommended.

Called in after seeing they offered vegan options, a few days earlier when we walked the Pikes and so after finishing a walk up Lingmoor we called in for lunch. We ordered garlic mushrooms and peacamole on sourdough toast with skin on fries. The food was delicious, lovely sourdough toast, loved the peacmole idea, although the skin on fries priced at £3.25 are way overpriced for the portion size. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely revisit. Revisited again today for lunch after a tough walk in the freezing wet weather.. Ordered two cauliflower wings, hash browns and fries with two pints of Helles lager. Absolutely delicious food, substantial and satisfying..love this place.

Lovely pub, with a food and outdoor seating area, plus a optional over night stay in the car park for campers. The scenery is fantastic and it's an ideal place to start an hike to scarfell and other routes.

Three stars for the coffee and sorroundings. No stars for the meal selection. We have stayed in Langdale twice in the past few weeks and started using the hotels for meals as Sticklbarn, since being taken over for the national trust, no longer caters for walkers appetites. I think the menu is catering for peopl ewho are driving in and not walking in. I suspect it is designed by people in London. Get them out on the hills for six hours then ask them to make up a menu, it will cater for walkers better, and we are the vast majority of people around here. Pity as the coffee is lovely. I also have fond memories of the local mountain photos which used to adorn the walls but have now been removed, shameful of you National Trust to remove that heritage.... Two visits in the past week, I only live a few miles away, what a difference. Someone has listened as the current evening menu is perfect for walkers who want to put some calories back. Daytime menu to 17:30 is still not great for hungry walkers. Staff were were happy and friendly.

Great atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food and selection of drinks are excellent. There is a car park with additional parking right next to it so travelling there is easy. There is a a nice cosy fire inside and firepit and pizza oven outside but I'm not sure how often these are used. Dogs are welcome with water bowls and dog biscuits too. They often hold music and other events upstairs. And a selection of board games or books if you just want to relax.

Great views; good choice of drink and selection of food. Friendly staff and good service. Note: main car park 200 yards along from entrance sign for barn. Be warned if you continue along the same road it reduces to single track with difficult terrain! Reward is great views and walks nearer Little Langdale.
