Lovely chippy. Great staff. Great food. I tried all the chip shops in Ambleside for fish and chips, and this one is by far the best in Ambleside. I got fish and chips from there twice in the week, and wow, beautiful. Great family run business.
Dont understand the odd bad reviews, portions were massive, food was really nice especially the curry sauce,fish was cooked fresh to order. Definitely get our diner here again next holiday was dam good.
I am Canadian and lived in Ambleside for 4 months and visited this restaurant weekly. I recently returned and dropped in to purchase some food. The food was always cooked on the spot, the portions generous, and the hospitality wonderful. I have nothing but positive comments to say about The Old Smit
Popped in for a takeaway and the food was cooked fresh to order. Staff were friendly and happy to chat while they worked. Food was very, very good and we would recommend visiting if you are in Ambleside.
