Absolutely love coming here, the staff are friendly, warm and always attentive to us. Mainly we go here for birthdays or special events, and they are able to handle small and large groups without a hassle. Never have had a problem getting a booking either, as they have enough seating for us all too.

Sweet and sour pork is good, but every other dish I've ordered from Silky Apple has been below average. Especially the thai chilli prawns ($35) They were so over cooked they tasted like flour. If I hadn't ordered take away I would have sent them back, instead they went in the bin.

Very low quality - avoid at all costs. My wife, who is Chinese, and I went there for dinner for the end of Chinese New Year. They were not doing anything for the lantern festival (first red flag) and the place was full of westerners. Anyway, as soon as we look at the menu she said "this place is for white people." I agree, it might be OK if your standard for "Cantonese" food is the usual sweet and sour fried rubbish you can buy at a cheap shopping centre. The service was also terrible, even though there were only five tables of people, and three floor staff, they still served a couple who came in after us before we even had our drink order taken. The chrysanthemum tea was nice. The entrees were expensive, and the king prawns were fried to death in batter. By far the worst thing however was the Barramundi. We eat a lot of seafood, and we both knew something was wrong. It tasted old and off. We did not eat it because I am sure it would have given us food poisoning. Despite having spent $150 on our meal, and telling the manager twice that there was something wrong with the barramundi, they refused to take it off our bill. Even though all the food was sub quality, it was edible and I was happy to pay for it, but there was something seriously wrong with the fish. They patronisingly explained that "we are just not used to food of this quality" to which I silently agreed but for the complete opposite reasons, and that they had already sold "five of these dishes tonight" which I knew was absolute rubbish as the restaurant was 90% empty. Long story short, the fish was off, it tasted like it had been frozen for years. They refused to take it off the bill even though we had spent a large amount for two people. There are a hundred good Chinese restaurants in Melbourne. Don't go to this one.

Always love the food. The seafood dishes are all very fresh and cooked to perfection. The dim sum is also great. Friendly staff who recognise you after a visit or two and remember our favorites.

I really don't understand the immense dislike towards this restaurant. It's a beautiful setting for good chinese dining. My Chinese family and friends love it, the food is delicious, and the flavours are not to strong, perfect for a south east chinese tongue. The customer service is great, with friendly staff. The prices are pretty reasonable (cheaper than Ripples, and other chinese restaurants nearby). One of my go-to restaurants! Highly recommend it

Disappointed it's not it's former self. Food and service was hit and miss. Didn't offer trolley service for yum cha on a Sunday. We thought it was over priced also for the quality. It's a real shame used to be a favorite.

Authentic cantonese cuisine. Friendly staff. Specialties include; Peeking Duck, Chicken in an edible Basket of potatoes, eggplant hotpot- but tell them not to make the eggplant too spicy. Silky apple dessert of a toffee covered apple made at your table. A Melbourne institution

The food here was good, but quite expensive for what it is. The restaurant interior design is quite nice and had a good ambience. Staff were attentive and courteous. Free prawn crackers are a bonus!
