It's literally impossible to eat badly at this restaurant. It's our favourite place to eat and we recommend it all the time. The best steak you'll ever taste, great staff, great service EVERY time. And we all love Giuseppe right?!

The Plum Pudding is one of our favourite places to eat. The food is authentic Italian cooked by the best Italian chef around. Cannot recommend too highly.

Excellent eating on the Trent & Mersey canal. We were on a canal trip and stopped right outside the Plum Pudding where we were able to use their private moorings. Welcome was very friendly, restaurant was warm (very important when you have spent the day in the cold on a barge), fine range of ales including handpull and a wide choice on the menu plus a big board of specials. Food was superb - mouthwatering and tasty, we had a selection of home made dishes which were worth waiting for - cooking 8 meals fresh to order obviously took a little while. Try the 'healthy' garlic bread while you wait.Service was very good and personal. Kids loved this approach and loved even more the desserts - very nice ice creams but go for the home made desserts - after 8 cheesecake!!
Excellent place to visit, very much fresh food and very convenient when barging.

..this would definitely be at the top of the list of the worst eaten. They didn’t appear to be .omemade either which was a disappointing start to the meal.

Arrived just after the kitchen had closed, but they were happy to serve up fish goujon sandwiches all round with a couple of bowls of chips. Very welcome on a cold day! Good food, great beer and a warm welcome, couldn't ask for more.

Been passed this pub hundreds of times on our boat but never been in. Couldn't go passed anymore. Very glad we called in, what a lovely pub. We sat in the beer garden next to the canal. Staff were obviously busy but service was still personal and friendly. Food was great and arrived in good time. We will definitely be coming in here again and again..

We haven’t been here for years. Decided to go out for dinner tonight. Plum Pudding was our destination. We hadn’t booked but they had room for us. There was great choice on the menu and I spotted a certain pudding that I had my eyes on! After our mains that were amazing (chicken curry and hunters chicken) I very quickly ordered the Sticky Toffee pudding with custard. It was totally amazing to say the least … The Plum Pudding is now officially at the top of my best Sticky Toffee pudding places. Staff were great and I’m sure we will be back - I’m planning a lunch time walk for a coffee and a sticky toffee pudding on my day off when we get back off holiday. Thank you

Had a very nice lunch here- 2 courses for £9.99 which was excellent value & large portions. Good food & a nice choice of traditional 'pub grub' meals plus specials. An enjoyable atmosphere & decor. Just sorry they don't allow dogs inside - you can sit out with them but it was a bit chilly for that! So many people have dogs these days that an inside 'seating with dogs' area would be really helpful, & popular I suspect.

Recently celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary with a meal for 21 people at The Plum Pudding. It was a wonderful afternoon. The team provided us with 3 course meal that was delicious. Each course was served promptly by very efficient staff. I am in awe that the chef managed to provide so many meals all at the same time. Liaison with Clive prior to the day was smooth and professional. Thank you all for making our special day so enjoyable. Sue x

This place was wonderful. They were so nice and accommodating to us. We were coming from the canal and didn't know we needed reservations. They found us a spot. The food was amazing. A few days later, we stopped by on our way back. Next time we are in the area, we will stop by again.

Just had a lovely Sunday dinner here while visiting family for the day nearby. 5 of us ate at prime lunch time. The starters were ok, everything tasted nice enough apart from the soul which was a bit lack lustre but other than that was all pretty standard. We all had some form of roast dinner for mains which was beautiful. We really liked the fact that the veggies were served in sharing dishes to the middle of the table so you served yourself as much or little as you wanted and they automatically brought an extra jug of gravy out too. The beef was so soft and tasty and very generous portions, giant crispy Yorkshires were fab and the cauli cheese was delicious. Was a really lovley meal and so reasonably priced too. We managed to squeeze in some pudding (we ordered 3 to share between the 5 of us) and they were good also. We had choc fudge cake which was the standard pub type choc fudge cake you expect but had an extra layer of gooey fudge in the middle and was very tasty and an Apple blackberry crumble which was also really nice. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and service in general was good with things mostly coming out in decent time. Bar service for drinks was quick and a good selection to choose from. The pub itself has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and is laid out nicely with a decent amount of parking to the side of it. Its in a lovley location and with it being November there was a beautiful massive poppy remember display just opposite. Can only give 4 stars as the starters (soup in particular) let it down a tiny bit and the table was very sticky and damp but only minor points that could easily be improved on and we would definitely return when we we're next in the area visiting family again.
