JJ's Dive Bar & Grill is just that, an awesome Dive Bar!!!! Francis the owner is awesome and super friendly. We talked to some of the locals at the bar and they were full of entertaining stories. Love the vibe and the stories. Will definitely be back when I pass through town. Also don't forget to ask Francis about the Chapstick.

Lots of mixed reviews on this bar from folks outside the community. JJ’s is a local dive bar with an awesome history and very welcoming local ownership. Yes, JJ’s used to serve food and still does on certain occasions, but due to the pandemic they have scaled that back (give them a call ahead of time to confirm). Folks who are expecting this to have the same offerings as a chain restaurant need to scale that back. This is a local bar and grill that adjusts their offerings with the changing demands due to the pandemic. I love this bar. When you walk in the first time it can feel a bit intimidating, but like any neighborhood dive bar, the patrons of this bar are friendly as can be. This is not a bar in the Bay Area, respect its local community and the owners who are trying to provide something to Arnold’s economy and community.

It was very welcoming to an 'out of towner', and both nights that I went their were entirely different crowds. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable. There was a lot of extra space and seating available as well for much larger crowds. The bartender was cool and I was able to charge my devices and they even gave me a goodie and blanket after realizing I was homeless. Awesome guys thank you.

JJ’s Dive Bar & Grill Google Review Driving through beautiful Arnold, CA on Hwy 4 January 2021 at the end of our pleasant day trip visiting Calaveras Big Trees State Park, me and my friend decided to stop and have a cocktail. Not familiar with Arnold, we used Google Maps to Search “Restaurants Arnold, CA” (see photos here), and JJ’s Dive Bar & Grill was a 99% match with a 4.4 review rating. First of all, with a name like that, who can resist. Thirsty and up for adventure, we learned from Google Maps that we were only a couple blocks away; very convenient. Furthermore, craving a relaxing drink with adventure and curiosity in our minds, we found JJ’s with ease. Just out of our car, we were greeted by Frances who we quickly learned is the proprietor of this curious establishment. It just got better from then on. Once inside, a welcoming and comfortable friendly atmosphere, and Frances even prepared our drinks from the bar. Not being able to resist the user-friendly state-of-the-art jukebox, I selected some songs that played well with all of us. Friendly conversation included the company of locals and some interesting history of this place and the area. We made friends here, and we’ll certainly be back to enjoy popular eats, drinks and new friends. I recommend this for a enjoyable, casual and tasty experience. Thanks Frances.
