Came here with friends and our puppy - we hadn't visited for over 20 years and were very glad we came back. The food, drink and friendly service was excellent. The pub was fairly quiet on a Wednesday lunchtime. It was a warm, sunny day so we sat outside with a beautiful view of the South Downs. There was plenty of room in the car park. Recommended.
What a little gem! Traditional English pub steeped in history, one of the oldest pubs in sussex, with a wonderful atmosphere. Although the pub itself is small it has a lovely large beer garden with plenty of seating.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming on our arrival. The food was excellent and well presented and very reasonably priced. Something on the menu for everyone and generous portion sizes.
We booked in advance and were seated straight away and didn't have to wait long for our order. The staff were exceptional and checked on us several times to see if we were happy with everything.
Overall an excellent experience but I would suggest booking in advance as it was very busy.
We've driven past this place so many times and always wanted to visit. So glad we finally have and we will definitely be back.

A cute pub with a beautiful view! If you come here, take some time to sit out in the garden and watch the fields behind. The George & Dragon has plenty of charm inside and out, with bare wooden beams exposing the building's age. There is a whiteboard inside that explains the history of the building, which really adds charm and intrigue to the place. Staff are very welcoming! Will update my review when we come back to try food. :)
Good service and good food. Really pretty views. We were able to sit outside as the weather was nice. Definitely recommend pre booking.
What a find! Great pub with nice staff. Shout out to Jo as she is a great character. Just don't ask for corn flakes!
My father first used to walk to this pub from Bury, that must have been in the 1920s, and he always rated this well before Google was even a dream. We have through the centuries continued to drop in when passing, it has never ever ceased to satisfy. Our latest visit just reinforced what we knew. Excellent, extensive Plowman’s that would have certainly satisfied a hard working plowman of the 1920s, the affogato was good too… friendly and attentive staff and a calm relaxed atmosphere made for another memorable visit. May the George & Dragon continue to please for at least the next century!
Lovely country pub with a relaxed and comfortable surroundings.
Haven’t been here in years I’m not sure why because ,
The staff were extremely welcoming and efficient.
The food was outstanding.
Melon and Parma ham was excellent nice to see that sort of dish back on a menu.
Whitebait also very good .
The ploughman’s was huge fantastic value for money .
The Roast beef just exceptional with all the trimmings, again great value for money.
Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again very soon .
Stopped here by chance with friends, what a lovely pub. The staff were considerate and attentive, very dog friendly. The food was delicious. A charming building too. Would highly recommend.

The food was very nice but somewhat expensive. Spent just under a £100 for 3 adults and a baby on a single course with 2 soft drinks a beer and a mixer. The staff were perfect and worth the tip. Perhaps air con would be a help as it was quite hot inside making the stay short but it's Britain so not typically a problem.
Nice Country pub, Beautiful gardens and views overlooking fields as beautiful Char-grilled Rump steak 🥩 was delicious. Good 🍺 Food Menu was a little pricey but you get what you pay for!
Staff very nice and attentive to our needs.
