Been here when twice once since the new chef has been appointed. Amazing place food does not disappoint and service is out of this world. I am a avid dessert person and this did not disappoint even petits fours were out of this world

The Spas and Stars package is a wonderful treat at the secluded, charming five star Pennyhill Park Hotel. Michael Wignall’s 2 Michelin Stars, 5 AA rosettes awarded, The Latymer, is a fine dining, culinary feast. Each dish is presented as what can only be described as a piece of art. Each dish is complicated and delightfully delectable. A three course lunch is far from just three courses. The plates are intricately created with unrivalled attention to detail. With charcoal emulsions, celery jelly, and scattered popcorn each course is unique. The service was impeccable and attentive.

In January 2016, the Latymer announced that Michael Wignall would be parting ways as he had taken up the executive chef post in Gidleigh Park, replacing the departing Michael Caines. Wignall had after all single handedly built up the reputation of the Latymer, then a 2 AA Rosette restaurant, winning them their first star in 2009 and a subsequent second 3 years later. This left a gaping hole and big shoes that needed to be filled and fast. For a brief period of two months, Steven Edwards (Masterchef Professionals winner 2013) held fort before the appointment of Matt Worswick.

Another quick update today with another meal at Michael Wignall at the Latymer on a rainy Wednesday evening. We were very impressed with our previous meal here and was hoping that we would have a similarly excellent meal this time around. With a glass of Krug champagne in hand, we looked at the menu for all of 10 seconds before deciding that the only option once again would be the tasting menu. I am very impressed that despite returning fairly quickly, only a few signature dishes have remained on the menu. The other dishes are either completely different or have received significant changes. One thing which hasn’t changed however are the nibbles served with the champagne.

It has been a long time since I last visited the Latymer following a less than impressive  first visit there. At that time of my first visit, the restaurant had 1 Michelin star but was subsequently promoted to 2 stars a few years later. I do think it is unfair to pass judgement on a restaurant based on a solitary visit (or two… or three for that matter) but I had very little incentive to revisit anytime soon despite living only 5 minutes away from Pennyhill Park given that I could just as easily get down to London where there are a myriad of dining options available. However, my fiancée has been very keen to try this restaurant so I booked a table on a rainy Wednesday night. As you would!

Towards the end of 2012, Tim treated us to a night away at Pennyhill Park. Pennyhill Park is a beautiful 5 star hotel and spa in Bagshot, Surrey, about an hour from Central London by train. After spending the afternoon being pampered in the spa, we were booked in for dinner at The Latymer, Pennyhill Park’s Two Michelin starred restaurant. The Head Chef is Michael Wignall, who was awarded his first Michelin star 14 years ago.

The brasserie. Great place to enjoy a relaxed Sunday evening 3 course dinner. The menu was slightly difficult to choose from as a result of small selection, however when I eventually decided the food was full of flavours and lovely presented. All the staff was friendly and polite. What a shame however, there was no background music to accompany my experience...

Michael Wignall at the Latymer is one of those restaurants that you wish were nearer to where you live. The food is stunning, the service great and the surroundings mesmerizing. This is undoubtedly on of the best restaurants in the UK and well worth a paying a visit. Amuse bouche (10/10) Amuse bouche (10/10) Tuna (9.5/10) Tuna (9.5/10) Lamb (10/10) Lamb (10/10) Squab (10/10) Squab (10/10) Cod and scallop (9.5/10) Cod and scallop (9.5/10)   Located in the idyllic surroundings of the Pennyhill Park hotel in Surrey and awarded with two Michelin stars, Michael Wignall at the Latymer offers the perfect proposition for a special dining experience. The interior is very quaint / cottage style (somewhat similar to for instance Holbeck Ghyll in Windermere). Cassoulet (9.5/10) Eel (9.5/10) Eel (9.5/10) Duck (10/10) Duck (10/10)   When we visited Michael Wignall at the Latymer we tried the tasting menu, which consisted of the following dishes: Amuse bouche (10/10) Tuna (9.5/10) Lamb (10/10) Squab

If you haven’t been and it’s not already on your wish list, I suggest you add it right away. You certainly wont regret an evening spent with Michael Wignall’s cooking.

Truly exceptional dinner for our anniversary. Every course on the taster menu was fantastic and the service was spot on, not intrusive, just always attentive. Very flexible team also, I was able to switch out a course containing oysters for an excellent vegetation alternative. We opted for the addition of a cheese board which was excellent but meant we were very full by the end. Would very much lobe to visit again

We had an exceptional experience at Latymer and the food, drink, service, and atmosphere were all amazing. Our sommelier was so interesting and knowledgeable which made the gorgeous wines taste even better. I especially loved the pistachio soufflé, the oyster, and the two choux pastries (one cheese and one later with chocolate) with truffle. It was an extraordinary day out in a beautiful location.

We had a truly exceptional dinner. Every course had an incredibly special taste to it. If it would be possible, I would give 6 stars. I would rate this as the best fine dining experience we’ve had in the UK (including the likes of Fat Duck, etc.). We will definitely come back when the menu changes in the next season.

Superb is all I can say. Perfect service, food was glorious. We took my mum for Mother’s Day and it was a real treat. At about £75 a head for 4 courses, this was a steal because they add little bites at the start and towards the end which feels like extra courses. Overall, thoroughly recommend! Only thing I would say, is that the decor when you first walk in with the carpet, the chairs, cushions have no style whatsoever. I think it needs a refurb!

Just under 3 and a half hours of heaven... Not everyday can you treat yourself to such a level of taste. But I missed it so much and it was a pure bliss of pleasure. Recommended it? Without any doubts, be ready for perfection. Expansive? Yes of course but, for the amount and the quality and the pleasure felt.....not expensive at all... Thank you to all involved in this special evening.

Having enjoyed the latymer on several occasions previously, we were intrigued to see what it would be like under new head chef Steve Smith. In short, it did not disappoint at all and was a fantastic meal. Just from the quality of the amuse bouche (the cheese and truffle balls were to die for) and the bread, you could tell we were in for a treat. Menu wise there is a great a la carte option where you can go for up to 4 courses or else there is the full tasting menu too. We opted for the 4 courses and they were all absolutely delicious - the scallop dish was probably one of the best scallop dishes I’ve ever had, and the strawberry dessert was so inventive too. Service was attentive, friendly, and on point the entire meal. Overall one of the best fine dining places I’ve been for a while and would be shocked if their Michelin star wasn’t affirmed again in the next guide if our experience is anything to go by. Definitely worth a visit whether you’re staying in the hotel or not. 18/20

We have been to the Latymer on several occasions now, and have never had a bad experience here. The cooking is beautifully innovative - delicious and elegant and always a new twist every time we go. Service is impeccable - warm, friendly and welcoming, without being stifling. There's a lovely little touch of sending a member of the kitchen brigade out with your amuse bouches which I feel really puts a personal spin on the meal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and can't wait till the kids are old enough so we can bring them!

I can't believe there's only two of us here who has actually reviewed this place. First of all, 5 stars. The meal, the staff and ambience. Attention to detail on taste and presentation of food is incredible. It was really of the staff for preparing my man a written happy birthday card. He really enjoyed it. We went for the 5 course meal and regretted not doing the 7 course. If we do go back, we'll definitely try it with wine pairing. It's worth it.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had, I’d highly recommend coming here for a special occasion. They catered to all our dietary requirements beautifully. Every course of the tasting menu was delightful and it was surprisingly good value for the amount of excellent quality food you get. We tried to capture how the food was presented like art, sometimes too elegant to eat... Just perfection!
