Beautiful setting and a fantastic place to eat and stay. Booked this as a surprise weekend for my wife's birthday meal and was back again for a good friends birthday meal. Food is excellent with a fantastic range of dishes and varied enough for all tastes. Food was served and presented well and the steak I had was possibly the best steak I have ever had. All in all a very nice place to eat and enjoy a quiet evening with good friends and great food

Amazing place. We went to celebrate a special birthday. A lovely setting and occasion. Drinks on the terrace outside made a lovely start to the evening. All food that came out was amazing. I would have been genuinely delighted with any of the starters, mains or desserts. Excellent waiting staff and attention to detail. We were a group or 15 and our room, upstairs was fantastic. A memorable evening. Definately worth a visit for a special occasion.

A perfect place for a wedding anniversary! My husband and I finally got around to celebrating and this was the place! Fabulously romantic bedroom, bathroom location. Our four course meal was divine. Best fish soup ever. Amazing sweet trolley. Staff are really attentive and kind. This really is the place to go ... we will definitely be returning.

We stayed for the first time on a winter break having eaten there many many times . It was a thoroughly relaxing and great experience. I have stayed at the London Ritz but this is much better. The room had a mezzanine balcony where you could sit and have tea with views over the countryside and gardens. The attentive and friendly staff looked after us exceptionally well. The food of course was freshly prepared and exactly to our taste. Glad I moved north so that I have an excuse to stay.

Wonderful location, great buildings, very good staff, excellent food. Could improve the shower controls. Difficult to get stable temperature and flow. Don't know why they don't give the option of using towels again, they are great quality and don't need wasteful washing after one use.

I went to a sensational wedding there. Everything done to perfection. Expensive, but amazing rooms, catering staff, who were so happy to help, gave even more than one asked for. Nothing too much trouble. Old beautiful interesting building that you definitely want to stay longer in.

Wonderful food in a very cosy setting. Quintessential British food served in a marvelous setting. We had the four course dinner and I have to say that this was one of the best meals I have had for years. For £40 per person you are receiving fantastic value for money.

What can I say excellence in every way. Staff pleasant and service above excellent. Quality food cooked in a way that can only enhance that quality. The experience we have had going there for many years has been maintained in those years in a way that is astonishing and is a credit to the owners. It never fails to deliver visit after visit.

Absolutely beautiful grounds, quaint interior and ozes history. The food was fantastic, service was excellent and not too pricey for drinks etc. The room was clean and have beautiful views but it was very dated and the shower was impossible to get to the right temperature. The double bed was very, very small. We would stay there again but not in the same room.
