Reviews Upstairs Cafe

On a very wet day I called in for coffee. Never having been here before I had some difficulty finding the door, which is rather concealed. There are four short flights of stairs to the cafe, which makes it a pleasantly calm place free of the usual clutter of prams that plague so many cafés today. The service is excellent and the coffee excellent. There's a comprehensive menu to suit the majorit, unfortunately I can't eat in these places because like Jordan Peterson, I discovered that most foods cause inflammation diseases in me. I would have been happy to spend more time there but Bakewell has some serious problems on the parking front, and the roads are permanently jammed with traffic. Anyway this is a pleasantl venue as are the staff. Further to my review yesterday, I must add that I have been to most of the cafés in Bakewell over the last few months. I have concluded that the Upstairs Cafe is definitely the best and serves the best coffee by far.

This hidden gem has fantastic salads and great staff service. Our iced teas were served in glasses with ice. We had Prawn Marie-Rose salad and Goats cheese, beetroot and caramelised onion salad. Highly recommend.

Been coming here for years, always good service and kind and courteous staff. Just had coffee and toast today, but as always everything was just as it should be. Thought it was time I left a review. Nice work all...

Nice place, but easy to miss as it is tuck to the right hand side of a deli, which was closed and made us initially think the cafe was too. We actually visited twice in one day, as the latte we had about 10am was really nice, so we went back at lunchtime for food. I had a lovely chunky lasagne that came with garlic bread and salad and it really was worth the money. As its upstairs it's not really suitable for the disabled or anyone with a pushchair and small children, as I wasn't aware of a lift. The mend toilet was a bit weird with only having a single cubicle, where was room for a urinal too (could be that people coming up the stairs may be able to see when the door was open?) Staff were very friendly and the service was good. Price was maybe a tat over priced, but it is a tourist area and things are going up in general, so not really a complaint. Would I visit again? Most definitely if I'm in the area😉😊

Quick service and polite staff. The jacket potato was very well cooked and perfectly amount of cheese. It was very tasty. The white hot chocolate melt was also delicious. We would gladly come back anytime.

The Upstairs Cafe & Gift shop in Bakewell, Peak District, Derbyshire is a great place to sample the local Bakewell Pudding along with a coffee or tea. With other drinks and cakes available and a gift shop for a souvenir of your visit, this cafe is popular with visitors from far and wide. Situated opposite the Co-Op supermarket and close to the river walk, this cafe is well worth a visit.

We stopped by for brunch and were greeted by welcoming staff and the manager. The food price is fair considering it's in a tourist area but the drinks are a bit pricey. It was almost £8 for 3 regular / small hot drinks. We ordered chicken and bacon mayonnaise jacket potato (£6.50), Full English breakfast (£8.95) and cheddar cheese and caramelised onion toasted sandwich (£5.95). Food portion was big and they were all faultless so were the drinks.

We had toasted tcakes and fruit scone with jam and cream. The tcakes were OK. The scone only had a couple of raisons in which was a bit disappointing. It's a lovely little place though and we didn't need to wait for seats. Toilets were nice and clean.

Great cafe. This place was a pleasant surprise as not much signage downstairs which is Flossy's. Loads of seats - 60 ! When Bakewell cafés are usually packed. Breakfast bargain = excellent coffees and Bakewell Pudding with cream. Only £4.50. Owner and staff friendly ++. Recommended.

A lovely little cafe with very pleasant and welcoming staff. If you are in the area I would certainly recommend stopping off and having a Bakewell pudding with custard plus a hot chocolate, well worth it.
