Review Clachan Grill - Ballater

Beautiful and warm place with a roaring fire in the room. Food was super delicious! Scottish fare and good quality. Service was good but could be more welcoming when greeting people into the restaurant. Simply say hello and welcome with a smile. Have a bit of simple chat to welcome folks in especially if you're charging a service charge. People expect more.

We were wowed by not only the food but the service and the ambiance. It was peaceful and delicious. A classy restaurant that is t too overbearing. The dishes were supreme. We were a party of 5 that sampled many dishes and were not disappointed with any.

Outstanding meal! One of our best in Scotland so far! I had the lamb steak, and it was sublime! Cooked perfectly, with a delightfully mild yet extremely tasty salt and pepper rub, accompanied by a wonderful salty Parmesan salad and thrice-baked chips. The peppercorn sauce was strong but a great accompaniment - I rather enjoyed dipping my chips in it and chasing the lamb steak down! With a pint of Magnars cider to wash it down, I was in Heaven! The only thing that could improve it was the sticky toffee pudding, which was equally heavenly! A delightful meal on all accounts! We will definitely be back!

A short walk from the town center. Very cosy restaurant with extremely lovely staff. Ordered the Sunday roast which was amazing. Do give this place a try when you are in Ballater

Had a lovely meal here celebrating a family golden wedding. The staff were very good and nothing was any bother for them. Overall, it was a great place to have good quality food in a lovely atmosphere

Enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch at the Clachan Grill. The food was well presented and packed full of flavour. The chicken breast was wonderfully moist, accompanied with vegetables that retained just the right level of crunch. The service was attentive but not intrusive and provided by friendly staff.

Exceptional. Probably the best beef I’ve ever had. And we polished off the sticky toffee as well. Very good service, warm and welcoming. Highly recommend eating here.

I won't lie, I had high hopes for the food here before I even sat down and they certainly delivered! The food was amazing. The cod was perfectly cooked, and the sides perfectly seasoned. I don't eat dairy and they were very accommodating and helpful with what I could have, even making some unexpected adjustments so I could enjoy the most potatoey baby potatoes that ever potatoed.

The food was very tasty - exactly what we needed after a day of hiking in the woods. We turned up dressed quite inappropriately for fine dining, wearing our hiking boots and rucksacks, but we got a table outside in the sun and the staff made sure we were well looked after.

Food very good and staff very friendly. We're here for a 50th family birthday dinner and Patrick with his staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Best sirloin steak I've had in a long time.

Clachan Grill *a hidden gem* and one of the best restaurants in Ballater. After a long day of visiting Ballater, eating ice-cream and enjoying the sun and the sightseeings, we felt a bit peckish... We tried a place who unfortunately served food starting with 1700pm. I couldn't wait so we made our way down the street towards the bridge... and there we found this nice Scottish restaurant - Clachan Grill. The Restaurant, as you will see in the photos attached to this review, has a Scottish ambiance. Staff nicely dressed in traditional Scottish outfit, tartan carpet, pretty thistles in large vases and large chandeliers with giant ornamental anthers hanging from the ceiling. If you love a nice evening out and an enjoyable meal in a luxury and cosy at the same time restaurant and a great ambiance, this is the place for you! A member of staff dressed in traditional Scottish outfit welcomed us, very polite and very kind offered us a table ( although we didn't book one) He was so kind to read the menu for me so I can make a choice ( due to the fact that I forgotten my glasses). The service was very prompt, drinks and food came in time and were of high standards. We had two soft drinks - clear apple juice and Pepsi and two meals - Peterhead haddock and Steak burger, followed by two big sticky toffee puddings * to die for*. Portions are a very good size, freshly cooked and very delicious. I'm usually not very keen on French fries. Believe me, these fries that came with the haddock as well as with the burger were sooo tasty and absolutely melting in your mouth. No idea how they cooked them but they're the most delicious French fries I ever tasted. I did expect the bill to be as higher as the look of the restaurant. Surprise, It wasn't!! I could have had my meal one more time (obviously I couldn't, not even if I wanted as I was full up!!) Well, I'll come back! and I'll recommend this Restaurant to each and every single friend and person I know Clachan Grill restaurant, very highly recommended! ***** - Thank you Chef! And thank you to the staff!

Very tasty food and good service. Felt a bit rushed -we had starters , mains and desserts. The whole meal lasted one hour . I suggest to leave a little more times between courses -then we would have ordered more drinks :)

We were having lunch today my husband and I and we enjoyed a lot. The food was exquisite, well presented and fantastic flavour, the staff was really friendly and the place has a lot of charm. Glad we found this place to have lunch and I definitely recommend it!! Dog friendly if your dog is well behaved!!

Really nice staff and very attentive service! The menu price was completely worth it! The starter was very tasty and a surprise! We treated ourselves to a dry aged angus filet steak for the main course. It was the best steak of my life!!! It was complimented by very good handcut fries and a delicious sauce, grilled on point like I ordered. It was like butter on the tongue! The dessert was really good but could not quite keep up with the standard set by the other courses.

Absolutely delicious food. We sat outside because it was a lovely warm night and the view of the pine trees in the distance was wonderful. I had the market fish with tenderstem broccoli & lobster sauce my partner had the t bone steak. The fish was wonderful, the lobster sauce really made it and the t bone steak was cooked perfectly and had so much flavour!! The steak definitely won us both over. It is on the more expensive side (approximately £32 for 3 courses and £29 for 2 course) but we are on holiday and felt it was worth it for something a bit special!
