Fairmount Market

I had to rewrite this review because it is important that I focus on facts and my personal experience and nothing else. I have been to this place a couple of times now and each time we have encountered some kind of issue. Most of them were small like forgetting ingredients or straight up lying about an order. For example I ordered a ham salad and they put a slice of ham on bread with mayonnaise. The staff also are incredibly rude and distant. None of these problems are the motivation for this review however. Today my wife and I got a chicken salad. Something in the salad was rancid. My first few bites tasted off and I looked at the salad and did not notice anything super obvious. After another bite my tongue began to tingle and feel a little numb. I was then overcome with a horrible taste in my mouth, it was foul and bitter. I threw the salad away (4hours ago at this point) and my intestines feel a bit warm and my stomach keeps making a gross gurgling sound. At the time of writing this (3/31/22 7:33pm) I am beginning to feel really hot and sweaty. It is freezing rain outside so I decided to do some laps in my driveway to cool down but I still feel horrible. I called Fairmount Market a couple of hours ago and began by telling them there was something wrong with the salad I got from them. The woman rudely cut me off before I could get another word in and said "we change the salads twice a day, Dan is the owner and is only here in the mornings" then she hung up on me. This is a HUGE red flag. Not only was she rude but she sounded angry and it really felt like this is not an uncommon issue. There was no apology and she asked me no questions, she gave me her one liner with her rude attitude and hung up. Now I am a skeptic about everyone and everything, especially online. However all you need to do is walk up to the counter and LOOK into their kitchen. The walls are stained with a disgusting layer of sticky black residue. Presumably grease, dust and burned food. Trash on the floor throughout the store and I literally watched a staff member wipe the sweat from their forehead (no gloves ever on anyone by the way) then continue making a sandwich. This is a disgusting restaurant with owners that no pride or shame. Eat this food at your own risk. If you do decide to gamble on eating this dangerous food I wish you the best and highly recommend you drink lots of water. I wish I could give 0 stars. Do not eat food here!

Pizza and sandwiches are usually decent, but a few of the female employees and at least one of the young male employees are disrespectful to customers. Another problem there are the two female food-prep employees who say they'll customize Pizzas but don't and become visibly upset when I ask for a pie to be made in a particular way. This has happened to me the three times I've requested Pizza from them, but it's never occurred when the two middle-aged male employees take this type of request from me. A pie that was supposed to be half-Pepperoni and half-Mushrooms with a lot of sauce was made on Friday afternoon with hardly any sauce, a large clump of Mushrooms on one slice, a few on another slice, and a few Pepperoni slices on only three out of the remaining slices.

Tonight I ordered a pizza, phones up by the second ring and I place my order. Just at the end of the order I start to say “kinda on the well done side”, but I don’t think it made it out in time. I get there and a young man rushes over to the oven and pulls out my pizza. He then begins to apologize for over cooking it, offering it to me for free and everything. I just ate the whole pizza and it was probably the best I’ve had in a while. Already looking forward to my next one.

Just like all the other negative reviews, this place has really good pizza BUT never once have I been there without getting a bad attitude from the employees. You don’t feel welcome there and they are all ALWAYS angry at each other. It’s a shame cause with their location and pizza they should be more welcoming. The management has to resolve this as they are losing allot of loyal customers.

Ordered a large chicken BLT. Bread was fresh, chicken was so dry it took me nearly a full minute to chew it up enough to swallow. Pasta salad had very little flavor as well. Not sure what all the hype is about fairmount market, but they certainly haven't lived up to the recommendations of the locals.

I know people seem to think the staff are rude but I had to take this opportunity to thank the lady who was working the cash register this morning 11/13/20 with long dirty blonde hair. She was helping a blind gentleman and her patience and kindness are to be commended! Also, the owner always seems very nice.

My boyfriend and I would come here time to time and wouldn’t have any problems but today I ordered the chicken salad like I always do, and there was a bone in it!!! I had to pull it out of my mouth!! The lady serving us was rude, her tone said she didn’t want to be there and deal with us and felt like we were wasting her time. We won’t be going back.
