My 1st visit to The Royal last night for cocktails and tapas with the girls from work and it definately won't be my last. Staff were friendly and very swift for an extremely busy pub. The food and drinks were fantastic and well priced too.
The table we were sat at was the best, we were a little noisey (sorry) but sat there we were put of everyone's way to just enjoy ourselves.
Will defiantly recommend and come back with family.
It's a lovely pub with a nice big beer garden covered by a marquee. It was fairly quiet when we called in, so the atmosphere wasn't what it could be. We had a pleasant hour in there all the same. I like the idea that you can ask for a blanket if you're feeling a bit chilly in the beer garden. Not that we needed one, as it was a very warm evening.
Honestly absolutely gorgeous tapas. One of the best allioli that I've ever had. We needed to move tables because it was a Friday and some guys were being rowdy but they quickly accommodated. The service was quick, the food was delicious and it was reasonably priced to say how great the food was.
110% food, not just the best tapas but the best restaurant in Barnsley bar none in my opinion. They forgot one of our dishes but was still a 10/10 experience regardless. Friendly towards groups, couples, and children.

My partner and I went here for valentines day. The food was amazing. The bread was so nice I had to order more. We had mussels which were cooked to perfection. The anchovies were just like I had in Spain last time I went, sooo nice. Paella was good. We also had octopus which was in a tomato sauce that was nice too. Size of the tapas were spot on. Think we had 6 or 7 dishes and that was plenty. Jug of sangria was amazing a bit strong tho, definitely a jug to share not a jug each haha. The girl who served us was so happy and friendly she really made us feel welcome and gave me a rose 🌹 wish I knew her name to mention her on her as she was lovely. Will definitely be returning. Hope to go one Sunday when they have live music. Can't wait to to have the anchovies again PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT!!! Thank you
We booked for a funeral tea 3/10/23 Farrah (manageress) explained that they don’t usually serve anything other than tapas; however the chef and kitchen came up with a superb display of fresh sandwiches ( with real butter ) ; a fabulous selection and farm shop sourced produce. Homemade sausage rolls, pork pies and chips; then we had 10 x set tapas menus which complimented the traditional fayre. A truly perfect combination. The kitchen staff, bar staff, waiting staff and of course Farrah made this daunting event into a celebration of life! Opening up early too to accommodate the timing of the day. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Every guest commented positivity about every aspect of the afternoon which went on well into the evening where we shared our lovely stories and memories.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been either for cocktails with the girls, or tapas with the family. Today was the first time I have been for Sunday Lunch and I am gutted I didn’t go sooner! It was all beautiful, piping hot and the service was fantastic. I’d highly recommend for all services - drinks, tapas and Sunday lunch for something different. You can eat/drink outside under the canopy, inside in the restaurant or in the bar area where there is live music every Sunday too. Worth a visit! Thanks as always. X
It had been a while since my last visit but was super excited to see new dishes on the menu and they didn't disappoint. Highly recommended.

Our second visit for tapas, took 2 friends with us this time. Food excellent, and all the staff were brilliant! Definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend!
