Barnsley Museum - Barnsley - Photo album

A very welcoming free museum. Wonderful for children with all sorts to look at. Personally I found the local celebrity display case with Charlie Williams original This is Your Life book particularly interesting. It's a small museum and doesn't take long to look around so well worth your time to pop

Mainly came to see the Tut22 exhibit but looked around the whole museum as well. The museum and discovery centre are a treasure trove of information and fun activities. Definitely worth a visit! All staff were helpful and very friendly, a fun afternoon out finished off with tea and cake in the old
Fantastic place so much to see and play with. Took our toddler who loved the play area with toy market stall and cars to get in. He also loved the model of Penistone viaduct with a train going over. The staff were all helpful and interactive. There lots of activities for older kids. There was a craf
Absolutely brilliant place, all on one level with cafe and gift shop. Staff are so helpful and accommodating. Such a beautiful building well worth a visit. Very wheelchair friendly.
Fabulous little museum, odd to see things and indeed people's faces that I remember, interacted with, in a museum! Great use of space, I worked there many years ago and remember when the cash office closed and county way opened, and was always sad to see beautiful wooden panels going to waste.
Wow!! what a place...and it's FREE to get in..we just managed the first two "rooms" all about tailoring and Barnsley through the ages...really interesting guys...and the grandchildren enjoyed making pom poms!! and I did a sample bit of knitting!! funny how you never forget!! Go on ..try
Another visit to this museum I always find something new to see. The Hobbit exhibition was a surprise. Barnsley is a lovely town centre with the new Glass Works shopping centre.and market.
Fantastic. So much interesting history. Well worth a visit (even if, like me, your not the most fanatical history buff).
An amazing place, free to enter, loads to see and do. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The cafe is good, a variety of foods and drinks on offer.
Worth the visit especially with The Lord of the Rings exhibition🧙‍♂️
It was outstanding, especially the Tutankahmum exhibit. Well worth a visit. The bonus being I met Professor Joanne Fletcher who is responsible for various TV programmes. It made my day. I love this lady because she makes Egyptology easy to understand. I felt very blessed indeed.
Interesting insights into the background to Barnsley's development to what it is today. Free to visit with some interactive items for youngsters to enjoy
Excellent local museum
Quite interesting, we visited for the Tutankhamun bit, although the other exhibitions were "entertaining" and informative... If you're in Barnsley I think the Museum is worth popping in... It might bring back some memories, it did to us 😂
I am on holiday here and really enjoyed all the Barnsley exhibits but especially the Amarna artifacts in the Tutankhamun special exhibition. As a Friend of The British Museum with a special interest in Ancient Egypt, I thought the young Pharaoh's life style was well presented and stimulating for you
Very good place to learn some history of the town. Free admission. Well presented. There was also a small Tutankhamun exhibit when I went. Bonus!! Great place to take your kids.
Excellent exhibition on Egypt last day today! Interesting section on the history of Barnsley . The museum is in the centre of Barnsley and on street parking is £1.80an hour !
