This place has everything! Fabulous art, amazing craft shop, attracts brilliant performers, has a wonderful cafe and really friendly and helpful staff! Go there now, (as long as its open!) you won't be disappointed!
Love the Ropewalk , friendly staff , interesting exhibitions .
Love the Cafe , great food and cakes the die for.
The entire building has a good feel factor..
I was encouraged to go to the Ropewalk museum and gallery by my teachers at North Lindsey College. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit in fact I have been back twice since then to view other exhibitions and on top of that I booked onto a work shop day in May. I took my two 12 year old granddaughters on one of the occasions and they were intrigued by one exhibition on the day. We always visit the cafe there the food is good. I will be going back soon. Its a small venue to visit but worth it.
I love this place. Drop in all the time. Staff are always very welcoming. Good coffee and food. Can't fault it
Went to the Christmas art fair today with a friend, my first visit and I could have stayed all Day, such a wonderful selection of Art and handmade items. We spoke to some lovely people , and so friendly I loved every minute xxx
Never been before but would definitely go back. Had soup and s coffee in the cafe, highly recommend it x
Lovely spicy pepper soup and bread that was suitable for vegan. Also do the best coffees with soya milk.
Staff are lovely and friendly and very helpful.
Best cafe in Barton. Xx
I cannot thank the receptionist enough for recommending Tina, picture framing, to help me with the restringing and a new clasp for my mothers pearls so my daughter can wear them at her wedding later this year.
Tina has made a fantastic job and they look gorgeous. For me Tina has made the special day a little bit more special as mum isnt here to be at the wedding but the pearls will be like she is. Thank you Thank you Thank you so much.
Love place - visited for the first time the other evening to see Martin Kemp
What a great night
Had a ploughmans, it was lovely, all home made including the bread roll xx
What a superb venue !! Great music, wonderful atmosphere ......... 3hatrio
Amazing place! Miss the flapjack it's the best in this world... Is it gluten free? I've been diagnosed and don't know if I can eat it again!! :( xx
What an excellent little venue right on my doorstep. The last time i was in that part of the ropewalk i probably had a rope in my hands following it back up to the top to be wound into a reel. Loved the place, Toyah brilliant as usual, back on thursday for the amazing Hazell O'Connor
We had an enjoyable couple of hours here in spite of a damp & dreary day. The museum is a small part of an interesting redevelopment of the old rope factory. The redevelopment saw the long single story building divided into a series of units with different purposes. There are a lot of artists working from the units with some lovely galleries to peruse as well as a performing space. The top end can be accessed via the Tesco entrance and that's where the cafe is situated. The Rope museum is just between the cafe & galleries. You can also enter from the north end and carparking is free.
It was interesting to read about & view exhibits related to the local industry of rope making. Well worth a visit.
We ordered Mac n Cheese and a pot of tea.
Service and food was excellent. The Mac and cheese was rich and creamy. The accompanying salad was lovely, fresh and vibrantly coloured. Not your average boring side salad.
I love that the cafe is not too big and noisy. There is also more seating outside which is very pleasant in the nicer weather.
A great walk today so decided to pop in for a coffee in the Ropery Coffee Shop.
Met with a warm welcome by Lisa and served a great coffee.
About a dozen others in the shop but a real nice atmosphere and Wendy was happy to spend some of her valuable time telling me about upcoming events that could interest me.
Also a great programmes board with a great assortment of events.
The centre is a not for profits centre so visit it when you can you will not be disappointed.
We recently watched the Rotary Variety Show here and it was a terrific venue.
The staff were amazing.. above and beyond.
A great place and definitely worth a daytime visit also.
I visited here with my father and my partner, while on a trip to Hull. I didn't know what to expect as I'd never heard of it.
It has a beautiful craft shop with lots of pieces by local artists. There is also a gallery showing showing lots of beautiful works, and some studio space.
The museum is okay, it's more of a corridor with history about the building, different types of rope, and the business, which was pretty interesting. I think it's probably a stretch to call it a museum.
The cafe was great, it was busy and the staff were very friendly. They had two vegan options for cake which was nice, and had alternatives to cows milk so we didn't have a problem ordering vegan options. I couldn't see if there were any savoury vegan options but there was a salad bar so I think they could have accommodated us. The cafe was accessible, and looking at the upcoming events, looked like it had a great programme of comedians, bands, and guests on throughout the year.
It's a really nice place to spend an hour or so, and it's close to the Humber Bridge, and nice to have a wander along the river and blow away the cobwebs.
I had visited the café before just for coffee, which is very nice, and they have a choice of oat or soy milk. People were friendly and it is a lovely place with a range of artworks exhibited inside (paintings, sculptures, ceramic...) Nice to sit outside, it is dog-friendly and people of all ages were enjoying the sun.
This time we went for lunch. I picked their dish of the day for £12. It was a Chinese stir-fry which "can be made vegan". When it arrived it was simply shredded vegetables (carrot, cabbage, bean sprouts) bathing in very sweet soy sauce. No cards, no protein of any sort. I was hoping for mushroom, tofu, or noodles...! They did bring a small ramequin of Chinese crackers. I asked for some more and they did bring them promptly. My mum enjoyed her Greek filo pastry dish which was veggie (with cheese and leek) and came with some salad and coleslaw. That cost only £7.50. We were a bit confused about such a difference in price!
As I was still hungry we got some cakes. They had two vegan options: lemon or ginger cake. My lemon cake was tasty but pretty dry - I couldn't finish it. My mum enjoyed her coffee cake. I will be back for the art and the coffee but won't have food there, unless they work on their options.
I attended The Natural Homecoming exhibition by Colin Blanchard which was not only well-presented and a pleasure to peruse but very educational and informative. Colin was generous with his time to guide anyone interested through the process of screen-printing. Adjoining the Exhibition were the Craft Shop and Restaurant, both of which enhanced the visit. The Ropewalk is definitely a delightful attraction to Barton-on-Humber and is to be recommended.
Another great evening's entertainment tonight from Source at this lovely cosy venue. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and brilliant entertainers. What more could you want?
Beautiful art gallery and craft shop in a former rope making factory, with plenty of work available to buy from local artists. Sadly didn't get to sample the café on my first visit. Will definitely return
Had a plowman lunch which was quite a size. Very nice. The shop is in a old famous rope making building which has been converted to a café and several other business's with a small museum explaining about the rope making. Worth a visit.
Lovely cafe, shop and art gallery. The Ropewalk is also much more than that. The museum showing how ropes were made which explains the length of the building. You can happily spend a great few hours here.
Delicious food everytime I've been there, especially the cakes! It's nice to look around the art gallery too whilst there.
Ropewalk in Barton-upon-Humber won me over with their amazing toasted paninis! Perfectly toasted with fresh, flavorful fillings, each bite was a delight. The outdoor seating added to the charming experience, and the friendly staff made it even better. I'll definitely be returning in the future when on the way to North Yorkshire.
Free parking, nice coffee shop and restaurant with some outside seating under cover , two galleries , art shop , museum, and an interesting walk along Barton creek and the Humber foreshore. Something for everyone and a nice trip out.
Wonderful cafe in the ropewalk. I had the breakfast frittata (mushrooms, potatoes, tomatoes and cheese) and beans, and I could seriously only eat that for the rest of my days! Lovely atmosphere and great surroundings.
Enjoyed an excellent lunch of olive and walnut quiche plus three salads at the Ropery café. A great selection of cakes and good coffee. The arts centre and small exhibition about rope making is interesting too
Great place to visit, interesting building containing exhibition space, craft shop and excellent cafe.
Great vibe.. and gorgeous home.made food .. vegan friendly also and a little art .. what .lm9re could you want xx
Fantastic food presentation, delicious tasting food, great service from Chris and Rebecca with beautiful smiles, thankyou for an amazing experience
