Excellent country pub with an interesting menu that caters for both the traditional tastes and those who are more adventurous. Lovely atmosphere and great service. Staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Lots of smaller partition with lovely and homey décor.
Ample parking at the back with the first three hours free. Patrons who need to stay longer just need to inform the pub to avoid getting a ticket.

A fantastic place for a Sunday roast! My friend and I both enjoyed our lunch here today. I had the crispy chilli squid starter with chilli jam relish (packs quite a kick!), followed by the trio of roasts (a slice of roast pork, a slice of roast beef and a slice of roast turkey). These were large, thick slices, done to perfection! There was an abundance of veg and roast potatoes too. If I'm honest, the potatoes were a bit bland unfortunately, as was the gravy (no discernible taste at all). Nonetheless, the meal was excellent value for money and the serving was huge! Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. A really scenic place to stop off to eat!

Lovely historic pub with plenty of history (look it up) in a very picturesque setting alongside the Kennet & Avon canal. Very good quality food & drinks served by a friendly hard working team.
Very dog friendly too. Venison was absolutely superb, closely followed by Steak & Ale pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Local brewery beer very tasty too.

Went for one of our favourite canal walks and decided to stop and have lunch at The George Inn. What a gem !. Beautiful building, fantastic food and great service produced by Harry H. He was polite, courteous and professional. A true asset to the team. Thank you Harry for making our lunch special.

Fabulous food and service! We had the pleasure of having Robyn serve us and she truly was a wonderful host. We will definitely return!
Here are a couple of delicious pictures.

This inn was busy on a Friday evening so pleased we booked our meal. A little disappointed our first choice of meals were not available. However our second choices were well presented & tasty. We loved the desserts before leaving for the show in Bath. Atmosphere - we felt a little cramped and it was noisy. Excellent happy and friendly waitress. Will book to come again worth paying the £1 toll at Batheaston.

Popped in for lunch on the way to Bath. Unfortunately, my chips were not very hot, but we're edible, and my ciabatta was a little too well cooked for me. I suspect it had been sitting under a hot plate! Partner enjoyed his pie and mash.

Great stop off on a canal bike ride. Lovely staff, great location. Would like to try the food next time!

Iconic olde Inn with a beautiful pub. Bath is such a special city so spending a couple of hours at the George was the foam on the lager ,so to speak for us. A beautiful walk along the canal with hungry ducks to feed and stunning properties to view summed up the afternoon. Cheers to more stopovers at this Pub!

Had an evening meal here of pie and chips. Not a great selection of cask ale, I had a cask ale called kebble and it was very nice Indeed. Pie and chips was very nice. We sat in the garden which had a good atmosphere. Service was very quick even though we were told there was 40 minute wait.

Absolutely fantastic location, great views of the canal.
Wonderful customer service with a great menu and comfortable seating both indoors and out

I called into the George when there was no food available. A kindly staff member gave me their tel number to call on another evening to see if food was available. This I did and eventually spoke to a different staff member, who it appeared I had upset with my phone call.
After my meal she did ask if I wanted to see the dessert menu.
But then disappeared leaving me to order from the bar.
I didn't feel that my business was appreciated.

My grandmother and I came out for lunch and immensely enjoyed our visit. The pork belly with rice and greens was absolutely delicious, and she spoke very highly of the mushroom and vegetable pie. The staff were very friendly, and our waiter Finlay was especially attentive and charming. We will definitely be coming back!

Well sorry but u have really dropped in my estimation. Been visiting this pub for nearly 30 years! No friendly welcome. One hour wait on food, we were advised 45 mins. Food arrived 2 chicken burgers costing 11.49 each.????
Cheap roll, a chicken breast that had been sliced in half and shared between rolls, a dry piece of lettuce and a piece of bacon. A tiny pot of coleslaw and a tiny pot of bbq sauce. No flavour at all. Chips were great!
Garden out the back could do with a few more welcoming flowers.
A drop in off cuff, which was a 30 pound mistake.

I called into the George for a lite meal and refreshment whilst waiting for my clients to return form a canal cruise. I ordered Mac and cheese it was gorgeous the pub is lovely and staff seemed very friendly. The only criticism was the bad smell in the gents toilets, a real shame because apart from that it is a really nice place to visit. Sorry about that, one point guys but I will be back soon.

Friday leisurely lunch with 2 good friends. Busy pub. Had the fish and chip special very tasty. Nice waitress. Booking advisable. Pub shutting in a few weeks for refurbishment. Popular pub on the canal, nice walks. Would recommend.

Absolutely terrible experience. Poor food & poor service. We ordered a chicken & bacon sandwich & found raw chicken in it. Would not recommend & will certainly not be back again!

well myself and my family of 10 had easter sunday dinner in the george the food was nice the lady who was our waitress for the afternoon was fantastic but it was ruined by some upstart of a waiter who as we were leaving had the nerve to ask out loud my i say if we,d settled up .i,d settled up some 15 minutes before .i think the management should look into how they train their staff if it was,nt for the fact that i had my grandchilden i would of said thing to him that cant be repeated. and jus one other thing the toilets were disgusting im sorry to rant on but i feel it must be brought to the attention of the management .the stars are for the food and the waitress

We came here on our last night in Bath, the staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, I can thoroughly recommend the beef rib and pulled pork!

Despite specifying on the Sunday Roast menu that you can also order off the main menu, we were told this was not possible. Very average food, half of the components to the Sunday roast were missing. Rude and unhelpful staff.
Overall would not recommend, Im sure there are some great pubs along the canal but this is not one of them.

The waiting staff were very polite but you could tell that they were overworked. The food was OK but not great. It took 40 minutes to arrive & when it did it reminded me of bad school dinners. At the end of the meal along with the bill I got a card that said they needed staff inc. a chef, so who knows whose cooking the food maybe the cleaner.Anyway for the sake of a pub/restaurant in a very beautiful location I hope it improves very soon, but for now I will look elsewhere for my eating out treat.

Thanks Steve for your great service this evening. We had a lovely meal & there was a nice atmosphere about the place. We will be bringing mum back again soon to sample more of your fayre.

I ordered the garden vegetarian bowl! Which I thought sounded odd, and sure enough it was a bowl of uneventful veg in a bowl with my choice of topping of halloumi! That's it£13.29 thank you very much!!
Needless to say if your vegetarian! Good luck..

Went in with friends for my birthday lunch and the only thing I could have as a vegan was the side salad as every thing else (including the chips and corn on the cob) "may contain meat". . . So many people are vegan, they really need to cater for more peoples diet. I did enjoy the packet of crisps I waited at the bar for 10 mins for though :)

Popped in with two sons for bite to eat after work - waiter Tom was really helpful, made us all feel very welcome. He managed a complicated order (fussy boys!) very competently. Food we had was just right for what we wanted and came very quickly. Boys are very keen to come back. Well done, Tom, great work!
Andy Firth
Friendly and helpful staff. At 4pm menu switches from lunchtime to main. The salad dishes were fresh snd well presented. The lasagne tasty but small and possibly microwaved.. around £10 upward for mains. Tables clean and well staffed. A good stop off pub. Menu probably a bit too large to ensure freshly cooked.

Great service, lovely food, great atmosphere, will recommend to all friends, definitely have to go visi

Slow service, limited outdoor menu despite claiming the full menu is available, bits of roast dinner missing when it arrives and rude staff on the side. The only thing they get right is the location!
