This is a great little pub. Smart but funky. Cool but not overstated. Perfect for a few pints with the lads, or a quiet drink with the misses. The staff are excellent. The menu and food are great. Drinks wise caters for everyone lager, or 'craft lager' if you prefer, cask ale, wine. This is highly recommended, I will be back.
A classy, understated and brilliant component of the Bath craft beer scene. At the time of my visit there were two permanent New Bristol Brewery lines and three Electric Bear. The food looked excellent, the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. A must for craft beer lovers in Bath.
Just nipped in here for a light lunch and a drink. 9 of us in total, but very accommodating and all the food arrived at once which was delicious and pretty good value for money. No complaints at all, staff were friendly and welcoming.
I enjoyed my pint. Friendly service, good place to chill. Only issue was that they don't serve any alcohol free beers, which a friend was after. UPDATE Well in light of the response below - we were told by the bar staff that they don't server any alcohol free beers - the best they said they had was 0.5% - so maybe the staff need to know about them??
I cannot recommend this place enough. We stayed for 2 nights at the Black Fox and enjoyed every minute. The building is a quaint, charming space with unique room designs and simple but elegant decor. One issue I noted is that due to the building's age and construction, it seems very inaccessible for wheelchairs. It is well located centrally for many things to do and see in the city of Bath.
We visited in the spring and the temperature was perfect in the rooms. If going at a warmer time of year I think the rooms will be a bit more humid. The windows were kept open by staff, there is a fan for the shower, and a high quality fan in the bedroom to keep air circulating.
The breakfast came with our stay and the full English breakfast was wonderful, with only a ten minute wait between ordering and eating. The staff was kind and helpful. They also had fiber internet with a great connection.
Because Bath closes down most things at 6 p.m., we will be returning again to visit and will be staying at The Black Fox again.
Haven't been in here since it was called the Hobgoblin, nicely done out with some good beers on tap. Food was nice and served quickly..
I came here yesterday for a pint and came for breakfast this morning. The beer here was good quality, the server was helpful. The breakfast was ok, not the best I've had (i think I've been spoiled by some cafes elsewhere) but it was ok. The server was attentive and helpful.
We stayed at the black fox for 2 nights. Overall the stay was really good, the room was extremely clean with good WiFi, Dyson fan to keep you cool (the room did get fairly warm) and the bathroom was very luxurious and big. A hair dryer is also included. There is complimentary body wash, shampoo, bubble bath, hand wash and cream to use during your stay which was a nice touch. There is a modern TV with Netflix so you can binge to your heart's desire. The bed was really comfy, the duvet was thick (bit too thick for the time of year) and plenty of pillows. We had breakfast included with our stay which was great, really high quality food! The only negatives are as follows : The light switch for the bathroom (which is opposite the bed) is on the outside, meaning if you need to toilet at night you will probably wake up your partner with light. I also found you could hear footsteps from around the building. During the day the road next to you is very busy, lots of loud cars, busses, honking. Overall the was a great place to stay and I would definitely come back again!
Everything was great! The staff at the hotel is super kind and helpful, especially Lily and Beth. We wanted to leave a tip but we were informed that they are not allowed to accept tips. Hope this will change so kind people can be rewarded for their kindness :)
Good choice of real ales, nice cosy pub friendly service. Only down side i would say as with a lot of bars and restaurants in bath toilet facilities either up or down stairs, and when you walk with a stick not always ideal. But would still recommend for a drink though
Good selection of Bath/ Somerset beers/ciders. Food hot, generous portions, we share ours. The young lady who served us had great customer service.
We love it here, it is the perfect location for Bath City center and the Forum entertainment venue, which we also like. The rooms are very nicely done out and have lots of character, but it is an old building so there is no air conditioning.
I drink here a lot as the pub serves fantastic beer- and is a great venue for a pre-gig drink before heading off to the Forum
Didn't stay at the hotel but had excellent breakfast very accommodating my partner is glutenfree they were very helpful he had one of the big breakfast I had granola bowl highly recommend 😀..We came back in the evening as they had an excellent Gin range.. Alex was dealing with an awkward French customer over age restriction challenge 25, she dealt with the female customer 100 respectfully and she is a credit to your establishment ..
Pub in the city centre close to bus and train stations and hub of business and food. The room is very clean and surprisingly the noise is minimal at night.
Breakfast is delicious. Salmon toast so yummy but if you cannot take very sweet food do not order the wafers. The batters are full of sugar.
Friendly and helpfull staff. Clean room and great breakfast.
Was on a 18 day journey criss crossing Britain, and this was in the top tier of places to stay. In hindsigth we would have liked to cut our stay short at other places just to stay here longer.
Awesome little hotel. We stayed for one night and it's an absolute hidden gem. Room was lovely and the location of this place is perfect for a cheeky weekend in Bath.
We had dinner and the food was great too.
Mark and the team are very welcoming. We will definitely be back!
