Friendly, fresh, fabulous The owner and staff were so welcoming. They take pride in their establishment and the fresh food they make to order. I had the egg salad sandwich. The kitchen cooked the eggs and made the salad for my order. Don't want onions in your salad? No problem because it's made to order. It closes at 3:00, so don't be put off if your favorite is no longer available close to closing time. This is the price we pay for fresh and homemade. The owner is also a masterful chocolatier. Get some from the case. You won't be sorry.

We stopped her for lunch while we were leaf peeping. They have dine in service, a few outside tables and also offer to go. A bonus is that they make their own candy. We had their BLT on rye bread and loved it. Grilled cheese sandwich was cooked perfectly but the three cheeses they use tasted mild and we like ours with more bite. Loved our candy choices: peanut butter balls, carmels and toffee. They also make a chocolate covered cookie that is light and crunchy so the cookie doesn't take away from the chocolate flavor. We would go back.

The decorations are very pretty, and in good locations to brighten the place up. An old building that was used for a bank in 1900s. You and your special person can sit inside the safe and have a nice breakfast or lunch together. Also buy some flowers for them with the flower shop that is inside along with some chocolate to go along with them.

Ate lunch there on a hot summer afternoon. Wonderfully eclectic atmosphere (the restaurant is in an old bank after all). Food was outstanding and upscale for central Virginia (that's not a cut; I hail from rural Virginia myself). Service was great and friendly and we bought some chocolates at the end of the meal which were also outstanding. We had the fun of eating in the vault, which was not as claustrophobic as you might think. Highly recommended if you are in or near Bedford.
