Quite possibly the best fish and chips we've had in years, from anywhere! Brilliant!
Everything was perfectly cooked and flavoured and not greasy.
From our family member who lives in Seaton, it seems to be in summer when the shop struggles, and possibly where the bad reviews are from. We visited in early April just before the local Easter holidays, and it was quick service but all freshly cooked - even though we were ordering lots of food for 6 people!
Not taking card is the only bad thing.
At almost £9 for a cod it is dearer than back home in Surrey by a few pound.
We first tried Seaton for fish and chips - too packed. (Good luck to them) We then tried Colyton. That one didn't even exist! Then we tried Beer Fish and chips. Great food, amazing choice, incredibly kind people.They went on serving way after their closing time and one family kept changing their order, were awkward about money but they went out of their way to help.
Excellent haddock and hake, the haddock freshly cooked to order. Very good chips crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Reasonable prices, comparable to similar establishments elsewhere. Friendly service. I’d go back for more.
Was really impressed with food and I'm not a fan of fish and chips as I've usually been very disappointed, but not tonight. Fabulous.
Fantastic fish and champion chips
My family visited the chippie to buy a takeaway on a busy Saturday evening. The queue was long, which we took as a good sign, but it moved really quickly. A member of staff was taking orders from people in the queue and our food was ready just as we got to the counter. My husband and I both had haddock and chips. There were more than enough chips to share with our daughter to go with her chicken nuggets. The fish was beautifully cooked in a light batter and completely boneless. The haddock was £7.20 a portion which is a lot more than we're used to paying at home but we really enjoyed eating our holiday treat sitting above the beach by the RNLI shop.
Friendly ladies behind the counter kindly split a cod and large chips so we could eat it on the sea front. No queue, fish had already been cooked but nicely battered, plenty of chips to share. Sachet of ketchup 60p each so decided against that but otherwise 😋
I visited this chip shop twice whilst I was on holiday for a week! Great service and food. Will definitely be visiting this place again next time we come down.

An olde world fish and chip shop, either eat in or take away. Large menu choice with table service. Food, tasty and well cooked. The staff are friendly and helpful
We were recommended this chip shop by the owners of our holiday cottage. After reading some of the negative reviews we were a bit skeptical about trying it in case we were disappointed, however I can honestly say the chips were delicious, the cod was beautifully cooked, very tasty and my daughter said her battered sausages were the best she’s had! So lovely food, lovely service and worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Ordered 2 hake & 1 chips. Opened the wrapper to find 3 hake & 1 chips cooked perfectly. Charged us less than the price advertised for 2 fish. Battered perfectly. Its fresh, its fried there & then. Didn't charge for sauce sachets!!! Couldn't fault it. Wish we had a chippy like this back home!
Highly recommend lovely fish and chips although a bit expensive.
It's a Fish and chips shop but we had one of the best cheeseburgers 😋 Good size of the burgers and a huge portion of chips! The staff were very helpful and polite!
