Plethora of board games to choose from. I was initially skeptical about the options for 2 players but this place gave me a sweet surprise. Varied types that includes strategy, educational, abstract, traditional etc board games. Didn't realize how we past 3 hours there. There's no compulsion of buying food or beverages, if you are interested only in playing. Outside food is ofcourse not allowed for the sake of sanity. They serve a smooth hot chocolate though if you wanna keep yourself warm while trying to think on how to beat your opponent in the game. Perfect place for spending quality time with friends or family. Worth a visit!

Good spot for a cafe. Group of 7 stopped off for coffee and a snack. I had an Americano and a coronation chicken sandwich. Coffee was good. I was rather tempted by my friends choice of a panini. Service was ok, food was fine too. Coffee was good. Nice casual atmosphere and once served the staff left us alone to chat.

These guys are brilliant. They somehow seem to remember me in some way each time I visit (either that or they are uber friendly) and their knowledge of the vast amount of board games in their possession is impressive. Food menu is small but perfect and easy/affordable and they have lovely cakes/bakes. They also have a big group game room out the back, it's warm and friendly. Think the price is perfect too and the 4.50 for games is well worth it. Great idea, great staff. Wished they were closer to city centre but I understand that's more expensive 're rent but hopefully people will support over the next years!

Great place. Nice environment, staff are really friendly, helpful and passionate about the games. Nice selection of cakes and buns and is reasonably priced. They have a great selection of games that would suit kids, novices, casual players through to those who are more experienced or keen gamers. The staff give recommendations and help explain how to play so you can get stuck in rather than sit and read rule books. Hope to get back again soon

Fabulous Place! Cozy Cafe with super friendly and attentive staff. Great food choices with some vegetarian and vegan options. Geared but not exclusively for people who want to play board games. The manager Neal was really accommodating and tailored a non vegan meal into a vegan one. Well priced and great service.

Had our first game there tonight and had a fantastic time, we were the last lot to leave and weren't pressurised to leave at all! Highly recommended for anyone who is a veteran board gamer or wants to test some games out before they jump in and buy them! The food and drink is great and everyone was very pleased with their food (group of 4 people) the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the games as well.

Excellent board game cafe. Where to start? So many good things, great staff who are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are spot on, massive board game selection with a really useful flowchart to help you decide. Can easily stay for 2-3 hours no problem but there's great games 30min - 1 hour if you're not able to stay longer. Adding this area to the regular visit.

Amazing selection of (over 400?!!) Games, lovely staff, great atmosphere and lovely bakes. Got the nachos which weren't exactly amazing but the cakes are all homemade and so yum. Pay for 3 hours but if they're not busy they let you stay on for extra time. We love Jack straws!!

Just had first experience with Jacks and left very impressed. Excellent and delightful staff, tons of games to play with and excellent food. Quirky and unique. Only real criticism , and it might be a harsh one is that's it's a little bit out of the way. But other than that it's great and would love to go back

The concept is great and it's very well executed. The food here is excellent, and there is such a huge range of games both recognisable and not so much but you can try any of them. Had lunch a lovely lunch here yesterday. A staff member showed us to our seats, explained how everything worked and asked at regular intervals if we needed help, refreshments, etc. Highly recommended.

Brilliant idea, perfectly executed. The staff are awesome - hugely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the games, but friendly and down to earth at the same time. Whether you're completely new to board games, or play them all the time, Jack Straw's will keep you supplied with a constant stream of games, drinks and food that are equally great.

Having heard of this gaming cafe for ages we finally got round to giving it a try. When we went in we got a menu and the staff took their time explaining the way it works. They told us about the games and gave us advice on which ones to play then left us to look at the menu. We ordered a few sandwiches, a panini and I got a soup and sandwich. Then we went about looking through the hundreds of games. They are divided into sections which makes it easier to decide what to play. We picked a couple and went about setting it up to play. We had no clue how to play the first game and without and trouble a staff member came over and explained the rules with genuine excitement. He waiting while we played a few rounds and made sure we were happy before leaving us to it. The food arrived and was standard cafe soup, panini and sandwiches. After an hour or so we went and ordered milkshakes, coffee and buns. It is very important that the coffee is good and yes I can say it was beautiful, as were the buns and milkshake. After 3hrs we had to go, however we could have happily stayed there another 3hrs. It's a great place to go to with kids and keeps the whole family entertained while eating. The cost for the family to game was £12 and considering the time we where there, it was a bargain. We will be back soon for more fun.

This is a lovely cafe, and the board game theme just makes it better. The staff are very helpful in choosing games, and the service and food was excellent. I went as a larger group and they did everything they could to make it all enjoyable.

Lovely place overall! Staff were kind and helpful, attended to us throughout our game. Extensive choice of board and card games and many you may not have played before. Wonderful idea and shall definitely return again ASAP!
