You want good pizza and an affordable pint and friendly vibes in Belfast? Sunflower is the place to be. Sunflower is so good I dressed up as it for Halloween. Where do I begin? You’ll make friends for life in the expansive back area. You will get to people watch or converse. You will right the world’s wrongs. According to some awarding bodies, this is the best pub in Belfast and rightly so. The prices are amazing for the location and atmosphere. My go-to tends to be the Grolsch, however the Budvar and Erdinger are great too. Spirit wise, the Red Leg rum never disappoints. There is no Guinness but the Beamish will certainly suffice. I had never really drank Beamish until introduced to it by this unique establishment. The bar is LGBT-friendly and there are plenty of pups dotted about the place to keep you entertained when you are curing the Sunday fear. I cannot let this review go without mentioning the pizza, which is out of this world and provided by the amazing Boxing Hare. Try the sundown I assure it will brighten things up for you, like the Sunflower does so well. The staff are great too, and as a side note I admire that the Sunflower provided an award to an artist at this year’s RUA exhibition in Ulster Museum! Pure class 🌻

Some of the best music in Belfast is to be heard hear most nights of the week. Covers virtually every genre - folk, trad, swing jazz, etc. Especially satisfying is an Appalachian Old Timey session on a Friday evening. Great music from a bunch of talented old timers! The beer is good as well and moderately priced. Highly recommended.
