Review The Dolphin Inn - Betchworth

We have run past this place thousands of times how did we never visited before I really don't know.... Fabulous little gem, very dog friendly so that's a huge bonus. Food was amazing, service with a smile plenty of parking. We will back soon!

My wife, son and I were cycling past today and stopped in for lunch and I’m so glad we did. The roast beef was excellent and the chicken burger could just be one of the best I’ve had. Great selection of beers and wines. Will definitely be returning.

Very good country pub serving good selection drinks and food. Good inside and outside spaces, all served and looked after by pleasant and great staff.

Spent a lovely evening at The Dolphin with a group of friends, beers and drinks were good, of particular note was a Young's original. The food was overall excellent ,only two comments to make - firstly would have been nice to have some vegetables with the pie and mash which are usually included, rather than having to pay for a side dish of vegetables, and the cheese board at £9 was not value for money considering there were only two small pieces of cheese. We all agreed we would go again maybe give those dishes a miss!!

Proper old fashioned, village country pub in the Surrey Hills. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. We didn't eat but the food looked good. Lovely little church nearby and a walk along the river. Perfect!

Absolutely lovely food, what a find. Came down for a special occasion on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. Sitting outside in the lovely garden, next to a group of cockerels which kept the kids happy, the staff were really friendly and food and drinks came super quick. We had roast beef roasts, sticky toffee pudding and drinks as well as kids fish and chips. All the veges were beautifully cooked as well as the rare roast beef and Yorkshires. Great portion we were stuffed after and you won’t be disappointed. Thank you, can’t wait to come back

Had a lovely Sunday lunch today with family. Staff very polite, attentive and helpful. I gave 4 stars for the food instead of 5 because the chocolate mousse was very hard and 2 of us were unable to finish it, hard to get the spoon in!! Would visit again, also dog friendly.

Lovely roast dinners enjoyed by 3 of our group and the lamb burger was good too. Great service, always a friendly welcome here. As our new local we always enjoy a visit here.

Went to the Quiz night last night and it was so much fun. Thanks Rod for making my brain hurt and also to Amy and Emma who looked after us all evening. A great time had by all !

First visit here . Great country pub with roaring fires . Really good menu and atmosphere - particularly considering Fahey it was a Tuesday lunchtime

The food was excellent. It was lovely and peaceful sitting in the garden and nice and cool inside. They were short staffed but the guys that were there did a really amazing job

As a location and the atmosphere I would give the dolphin 5*.. it is a local pub serving the community of Betchworth. Sitting in the pub on a glorious late May afternoon overlooking the church in this out of the way village, frequented by regulars and families - was fabulous. The food was good if not exceptional, standard for a gastro pub (it gets 4* for the food).

Lovely old pub in a really lovely village. With the the river nearby it’s a treat to walk there along the many paths. We only had tea and coffee with a sandwich each, good friendly service, a very welcome place to stop.

A wonderful traditional pub, warm welcome, great service, exceptional food, best of all happy, smiling, attentive staff.

We had a really lovely Sunday roast here. The owner tried very hard to fit us in. We had roast beef and pork and a pudding of mixed berries and apple crumble and ice cream. Several drinks too.I think the bill was reasonable in this day and age. We had a lovely afternoon. Thank you.

Only popped in yesterday for a quick drink & light bite. Had the ploughman’s platter to share. Was lovely. Had a great bbq grill menu which we will definitely come back for another weekend.

The chef knows what they are doing. Food is worth every penny. The ale is fresh. Wonderful rambling place. Love the C17th wood panelled room. Great fires. Could've stayed all day. Book an early lunch on the weekend (as we did). You won't be disappointed. And they will give your dog a treat.

Overpriced standard pub grub.. Staff were friendly but rarely seen after food brought to the table. £14.00 for three sausages and mash, was expecting something special but received dry, over cooked sausages and tasteless mash. Don't even get me started on the alleged red wine gravy! Very poor performance by any standards.

Came here to celebrate a birthday and you d the staff very friendly and the food great. Would definitely recommend this place. Thank you.

Great beer, staff and ambience. Very dog friendly. They do a mean meal too with a great restaurant all home cooked food.

Very nice and cozy pub. Great food made with local products. Unfortunately the venison burger was finished, but the sausage from the Dorking butcher were fantastic!

One of the very best pubs. Maybe Youngs best country pub. Young landlord knows his stuff.

The website gallery looks better than the real place. Beer garden not large at all and needs some livening up. The marquee needs a good clean up as it looks like it stays up in all weathers. Will agree that staff are very friendly. Sunday dinner portions don't warrant the price paid, small and more roast potatoes needed with more veg. Could be a little gem with some TLC...

Great meal but the room was cold due to the outer door being opeb. This slightly spoiled it for me. Quality of food couldn't be faulted though.

The sharing platters are uniquely wonderful, with each item having a specific local character. The sausage roll is unsurpassed in my experience. Really very special, with intelligent, friendly, and helpful staff. A real rarity, and one to try soon - because it seems too good to last forever...
