Review The White Horse - Biggleswade

My wife and I enjoyed our Sunday lunch yesterday. We had returned after having decided some months ago that standards had slipped too far regarding the food offerings, but found things were vastly improved this time. I’m guessing there have been positive staff changes in critical areas since our last visit. The quality of the beef and lamb dinners was very good, albeit not the largest servings (not having paid for additional sides). I’d probably have had coffee after the meal, but the waitress cleared the plates and was gone without asking… Overall, a very pleasant and encouraging experience.

The Sunday dinner needs refining, or maybe because we had it just before kitchen was closing we got dry left overs. Even the little dish with horseradish had skin on it. This it how long it was standing there. The road to overflow car park needs repair very badly.

A lovely sunny, family day out. Wonderful pub, absolutely marvellous food, great service, polite and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed and definitely recommend.

I really wanted to give this place a 5 star rating as I’ve been waiting to go here for years and never been able to go there due to the timings for us, but finally the big day arrived and we could make it, my wife got us a table there for my birthday meal with the kids; We got there and got asked to sit at a different table whilst they got a better table ready for us as we required a highchair which was no problem as the highchair needed to be out of the way for others to get past, we got put right in the corner out of the way again this seemed ideal for us as again with all the kids and one being in a highchair it made sense, we had a lovely man deal with us when we got there extremely nice and helpful, young with glasses I think an assistant manager, but his shift was ending, when he went it was like we was forgotten in the corner, luckily he took our order before he left, we got our food my son got a cheese and bacon burger the bottom of the bun was paper think and falling apart, all of our lamb was over cooked, the rest of the food was lovely. We ended sitting and waiting for our table to be cleared and to order our dessert for 15 mins I had to shout someone to come and clear it after my wife was about to take it all to the bar all the desserts were amazing also, but the fact we just got forgotten about for so long as lost them a star from us. We will return as it was very nice.

The food tasted nice and seemed freshly prepared and cooked. The staff were very attentive to our needs the only downside was all the doors and windows were open so we found it hard to eat somewhere warm. We were wearing our jumpers as it wasn't the warmest summer so can't blame them for that. Would definitely recommend this pub even just for a drink!

Always a great experience here, we walked here from Shefford with the family for my wife's birthday. Olivia served us and she was very professional and accommodating as we needed to move tables due to the fast winds and rising heat. Even though it was busy, we didn't feel forgotten about at any point and Olivia and other staff members were always around to check if we were okay and wanted anymore drinks or food! The quality of the food and service you receive here is defiantly not reflected in the price as the white horse is a very affordable place for drinks and dinner!

We had Sunday lunch with family in this delightful pub. Food was delicious, hot and served by very friendly staff. A relaxed atmosphere and lovely beer garden. Megan was lovely, attentive and very efficient. We look forward to visiting again.

A lovely traditional pub hidden in the countryside away from the normal crowds (however they do host weddings and other events sometimes which can make it quite busy). We love stopping in for a drink during a bike ride around the area. It is just an idyllic place and I hope it always remains.

Had the absolute pleasure of having my wedding reception in The Stables at the White Horse. Throughout the planning process Louise and Christie were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with for the whole thing. The day was completely tailored to how I wanted it and I couldn't be more thankful. Nothing was too much trouble or not possible. They catered for 65 people and every single last meal was perfect. The team who worked tirelessly on the day behind the bar and waiting on the tables were amazing. The team are a real credit to Louise and Christie. Couldn't fault the experience at all and will of course be regularly coming back!! I'd recommend The Stables and The White Horse to absolutely anyone looking to plan an event!! I visited the pub recently with my cycling group we had an evening meal. The food was excellent and great value for money. The service was amazing bearing in mind the size of the pub with a garden and an covered extension to the side of the building. Only two people were on duty front of house, Holly and Christi. They worked with amazing speed and efficiency, but this did not impinge on there pleasant attitude to wards our group. We sat in amazement watching these two ladies striding effortlessly across the pub serving food and drinks. Doug and six other cyclists 7 June

Had Sunday lunch for a birthday treat. The food was delicious. All the staff are so lovely, friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.

Very nice village pub. Calm atmosphere, we did go on a week night. We were a large group arriving at different times and they were really accommodating. Good choice on the menu and understood and handled dietary requirements well.

Where to even begin... We booked the white horse as our wedding venue around a year ago now and ever since our wedding day 2 weeks ago we have been inundated with messages about how incredible our wedding venue was. Our initial consultation with Louise and Christie made us feel confident that they could deliver a wedding that had a large amount of guests, we ran through various package options and tweaked our chosen package to make it feel more personal and bespoke to us. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel welcome to ask whatever we wanted, we have been regular customers at the white horse for a long time so we knew the food, drink and service would be at a high standard as it always is. They were proficient in recommending suppliers and helping us communicate with them to get exactly what we wanted. The weeks before the wedding we felt confident and comfortable that everything was in hand and had regular meetings / conversations with a number of the staff members specifically Luke, Christie, Tom, Kieran and others (sorry i'm rubbish with names) they were all so patient and so understanding with all of our requests the staff really are the heartbeat of this pub and a testament to what the white horse offers week in and week out. On our wedding day we arrived later after having some photos taken, but were blown away when we arrived by how the stables looked, the team had gone above and beyond to create a space that really reflected us as a couple. The head chef is very talented and extremely hard working, he provided a 3 course meal for over 70 guests and i'm not joking when I say there wasn't a single plate with any food left, all of our guests loved the food and commented on how lovely each course was. All of this again wouldn't have been possible without the incredible staff who made each course run smoothly without a glitch. 2 weeks later and here we are, we just can't stop reminiscing on how much of an incredible day it was, from the venue to the staff and everything in between we really can't thank the entire team at the white horse enough. You gave us a day we will truly cherish for the rest of our lives and for that we will always be so grateful and supportive of the pub for many years to come! So if you're unsure of a wedding venue for your wedding, I urge you to go along and speak with the team you won't regret it! A million thanks again, Mr and Mrs Philpott!
