I tell everyone that is going to Birmingham to go to Damascena. I've been so many many times and always come back. The food is absolutely fantastic, and it is one of the few affordable places left to eat. The decor really makes this restaurant stand out. A great selection on the menu and the portion sizes are massive. It'll always fill you up. 10/10. Always has lots of customers.
We only had quick breakfast, waited quite long to get the food tho. Nice omelette, the mint tea was refreshing. Lovely atmosphere. Sitting inside is better than outside. All halal 👍
If we visit Birmingham again, we would come back to try other dishes especially shawarma & the afters!
Really lovely food and service. I grew up in the UAE and I e now had breakfast and supper here. Authentic food, great tea and coffee, beautifully presented and attentive service. What more can you ask for. Don’t think, just head down!
Really lovely coffee house with an extensive menu of teas and coffees with snacks and desserts available.
There was a very tasty looking food menu, but we only popped in for coffee and dessert. The staff were lovely and very friendly and the place was clearly popular for good reason.
We intend to return and try the food menu as well next time.
First time here and loved everything about it. A delicious mixed meze accompanied by samovar tea was perfect for two people, but the menu is extensive and caters to all appetites and food preferences/intolerances. The service we received was faultless, lovely decor and a general sense of wanting to give customers a great experience. Highly recommended.
Beautifully designed kind of restaurant/ coffee/ tea shop.
You can walk from the city centre, very close to the bus stations or park with a bit of luck right in front of the restaurant.
Good food, lots of options, meat eaters or vegetarians, I am sure that you will find a delicious dish here.
The fresh mint tea it is fantastic, I always order two of them.
The staff is super friendly and helpful regarding intolerances and dietary restrictions. Cuddos to the team!
The seats are a bit uncomfortable for me, but not terrible.

Came here for a late lunch, on recommend from my boyfriend. We had to wait a little for a seat, but they were toppers, and it was worth it!
We weren't sure what to get because everything looked so good, so we sort of made a big platter to share- our waitress was lovely and gave us some recommends- thr food came out pretty quick and was SO GOOD. Defo needed more than 2 flatbreads tho bc the amount of hummus we got was obscene. The falafel were the best I've ever had, I think, no exaggeration! So crispy and full of flavour.
We got a tea each and they came with these cool crystallised honey (?) Sticks to sweeten? They were cool, I wanted to chew on it. He got a mango milkshake though which was delicious- I had to order an extra one for myself.
We ordered desserts to take away, and wanted to pay at the same time, but we ended up having to wait ages for the bill because each waitress we asked seemed to keep forgetting about us. Ended up having to go up to the counter to pay, after waiting about 10/15mins, hence only 4 stars, but that's ok- they were so busy!
The waiting didn't put us off at all- the food was so good and again, the restaurant was so busy, I'd 1000% come back again when I'm in the area. A lovely light lunch option with the option to make heavier. Thank you Damascena!
Have visited Damascena a fair few times now, I do enjoy the food and the atmosphere is lovely. The last couple times I’ve always bumped in to Meryem and Lu who are the cutest people ever! They provide outstanding customer service, are always smiley and are generally just really sweet people
We haven't been to Damascena before and we were not disappointed. The food is varied and the prices are sensible so 6 of us went for lunch. We all really enjoyed the visit - each of us had a different dish. The presentation was perfect and the service high class and attentive. We would be happy to go again. Happy to recommend Damascena too!
Love this cafe…Staff were very helpful when we had a bit of table incident ..food was superb as expected of Syrian menu…
We had mixed shawarma, flat bread pizza, appetizer, chicken and salads.. wonderful food and ambience..!
