My favourite place! Best restaurant of korean food in Birmingham!
It's small and cosy and sometimes is very full but it is totally worth the wait!!
My favourite is the Japchae .. SO DELICIOUS !
Overall, we had a nice experience at Topokki. The ambience is really nice and the place is clean and well lit. We enjoyed grilling the meat on our table just like in Korean dramas we've watched.
The food and service were great! I've visited several times and have always ordered beef bibimbap and the sweet and spicy korean style fried chicken. The dishes tasted really nice and the portions were large and so the prices are reasonable. The service was great, and the staff were friendly! If you pay with cash, you'll get a 10% off!
Toppoki is a Korean restaurant in Chinatown. It is a simple space of neutral colours, wall murals, and plenty of natural light. There are hot plates built into the tables and a view into an open kitchen, which from our end, showed an alarming usage of a microwave. I know nothing of Korean food so the menu is a beguiling mix of excitement and fear to a control freak like myself. There are dupbap and bibimbap, whatever they may be, amongst more familiar kimchi and curries.
It was good despite the mixed reviews I wanted to try for myself I think my sister even loved it more and she's a picky eater. We'll be back
I came here for my birthday and I must say the atmosphere was so calm and the food was soooo delicious. Litterally yesterday I had a sudden strong craving for some authentic korean food and when Toppoki came to mind, I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. We ordered so much and you can tell each dish had a lot of effort put into it, considering the authenticity and delicious flavor.
Since I am learning Korean, I decided to order in that language and the waiter who was serving us was so kind. Jimmy, thank you so so much for the comfort and compliments I received when speaking to you and for how patient you were with me too. Thank you also for the time you spent with us. I will most definitely be dining here again soon.😊😊😊
We had a fab lunch here. I love bibimbap and it was very tasty but you have to order the fried egg separately, which I've never had to do before! I didn't realise until my food arrived, which was a little disappointing. The Korean chicken breast was delicious and we got a good sized portion of kimchi. We were over charged but luckily I spotted an extra dish had been added to our bill. When this was pointed out it was quickly rectified by the helpful staff. All in all a good experience and we will definitely be back.
My favourite Korean restaurant in Chinatown. Such a beautiful place with such amazing food.
I had a great time every time I went there.
The food can be a bit spicy so be careful.
First visit. Tried the meat grill menu and seafood noodles. Absolutely brilliant, lots of flavour and enjoyed the experience. Will return.
We came here after a recommendation and much contemplating I'm so glad we did!! The food was Amazing!! The Chicken Terriyaki was so tasty and the portion sizes were generous so next time will share the Noodles and add more sides. Also there's a 10% discount for cash. We will definatly be returning even if its just for the Chicken Terriyaki 😋
I recently dined at this restaurant, and while the food was undoubtedly good, it didn't quite reach the level of greatness I had hoped for. The flavors were delightful, but some dishes were not the best I've ever tasted, but others left me wanting more.
The service was pleasant, but it didn't go above and beyond to make the experience extraordinary. It was polite and efficient, but lacked that special touch that can elevate a dining experience.
One significant drawback was the restaurant's refusal to accept card payments. In today's cashless society, this is a considerable disadvantage and can be inconvenient for patrons.
Another point of concern was the portion sizes. All three of us at the table agreed that they were surprisingly small, especially considering that both sides and mains were priced similarly. It left us feeling like we didn't quite get our money's worth in terms of quantity.
In summary, the restaurant offers good food, but it is not the best I tried, with pleasant but not exceptional service. The inconvenience of not accepting card payments and the small portion sizes were definite drawbacks that left me with mixed feelings about the overall dining experience
Great atmosphere with retro style seating, was like being back in school. This is a popular Korean restaurant but couldn’t give it the full five stars as it was slightly let down with the food. Couldn’t finish the curry as it was quite poor, the rest of the food was nice, especially the stone pot rice.
Food quality was average and the chicken in the hot pot rice (bibimbap) was tough and dry. The portions were small. Some staff were polite and friendly but not the one who took our order.
One of my top korean places. Their korean fried chicken is always a good choice along with some kimchi pajeon. Also recently tried their kimchi ramen which was really good.
The staff and the service were amazing the food was so delicious there are dishes for vegetarians and vegans. Hope you guys find this post helpful💙🥰
Came into the place and noticed it had a huge ceiling space, which is great as it felt really open. The food choices are varied and taste great. The BBQ options are nice and also allow you to do it yourself, we opted for Set A, which included chicken, beef, pork belly and a large piece or beef. The marinated beef and chicken were great, the pork belly lacked some flavour and the big chunk of beef was just not fit for the Korean BBQ as it was not marinated either. Overall, it is a reasonably cheap place to come with a group of people to relax.
The shop looks pretty new or well maintained. I would say the taste of the food was good (I am Korean though) in general but the amount of the food was all BIG portion. Strongly recommend if you are hungry 🤗 I think this is what a restaurant needs to be to satisfy their customers.
Delicious food! When we asked for spicy, they truly delivered 🔥🌶️
I always pop in every couple of months, and I always ask myself why I don't come here more often. The food is great, good portions it never disappoints. The staff seem a bit shy but always polite and welcoming. The atmosphere is really cosy and home like. I brought a lot of my friends here, and every single one fell in love with it.
I love the restaurant space, cozy but feel open at the same time. The food is really on point and you should ask the staffs if they can reduce the spicy level of the spicy dishes. Mine was not spicy at all and taste great.
The price is very decent. I and my friends paid 15 quids each and we can’t eat anything else after because the portion is huge.
The highlight is the staff - Jinny, he is super friendly and delicate.
I highly recommend Topokki if you are craving some Korean food.
Good Korean food, tasty and good portions. Interior could be renewed/refreshed.
Topokki was fairly empty when I arrived, I suspected it was because it was a week night but became busy around 8pm. It was easy to be seated and my food arrived fairly quickly.
We tried the bbq meats; pork bulgogi and chicken bulgogi along with some dumplings, bibimbap and seafood noodles. It was all good value for money except for the lettuce! £4.50 for lettuce to go with the bbq meats!! I would definitely come again though.
Amazing Korean food! Loved the vibe of this restaurant, and the food was very authentic and tasty. Prices are a bit steep hence the 4 star rating, but if you share plates with others and split the cost then not too bad. I would recommend the kimchi pancake and pumpkin katsu curry.
