I came to Itihaas all the way from Coventry for a pre-birthday dinner. I must say it was the best Indian food I have had since I came to England. Now this Indian restaurant can afford to call itself authentic among hoards of aspiring but under achieving novices.

At the offset, the ambience beckons images of royalty in a quaint historic corner of India. As soon as I entered, I was blown away by the sheer elegance of the decor. This is no ordinary casual dining restaurant.

Starting from the menu - which gave me major India feels - with papad and a signature accompanying mint chutney, smooth and tender Paneer Makhani with real paneer instead of tofu and creamy Dal Makhani to amazingly soft butter naan, everything about Itihaas is as Indian as you can get in England.

Itihaas is mildly on the pricey side, but with what they had to offer, I'm not complaining.

Tip - make a reservation as a lot of people love this place!

Came here recently with a couple of friends at their Bullring outlet. Because of the rush we took almost 20 minutes to get seated but I guess we thought it would be alright to wait. Once we were seated, our order was quickly taken and it took another 20-25 mins to get the food. It started to get a bit annoying by the end of the affair since we'd been at the mall for a few hours now.
We ordered the biryani, the chicken wrap and the chicken tikka salad.
All of the food looked super amazing! Quantity of the biryani was a good amount (2 people easily) and was alright for the place we were and the price we were paying.
The chicken roll looked very good and tasted nice as well. Wrapped in a naan bread along with veggies and tikka chicken inside my friend couldn't even finish it completely.

Nestled on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter, Itihaas isn’t in a place where I’d usually head to for Indian food, but as soon as you walk in you can feel the authenticity. The decor is stunning, with ornate, dark wood furniture, traditional Indian artwork, stone elephants and incense burning. We were greeted with a drinks reception where I had a Mojito and canapes. There were 2 on offer, Paapri Chaat which were little pastries filled with chickpeas, potato and a tamarind sauce, very nice I may add, and Amritsari Cod with tomato relish – lightly battered and spiced cod pieces fried until crisp, which were really good. After we finished our drinks we were taken downstairs to our private dining room for the evening.   After a champagne reception as we went in, we were all seated and had a

At the end of a long morning's work, we were in search of a late lunch in the City Center. A local friend guided us to Itihaas, recommended for its authentic North Indian dishes. The entrance at the street level has a very Indian decor with ornate handcrafted stone and wood artifacts amidst a profusion of indoor greenery. We were greeted by the restaurant manager and were ushered to a table with a view of the canal beside the property. The quietly flowing canal added to the relaxing atmosphere indoors.
As we tried to select a simple, quick and easy vegetarian meal we were encouraged to try out the Shahi Palak Paneer and Tadka Dal. We ordered a Roti ki tokri and Jeera rice in ample quantities to go with it.
The food arrived in a short time, enveloping us in a blend of aromas and transporting us homewards. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious and was an instant hit. It was every bit a Punjabi home food, something I was very familiar with in Delhi. We had a hearty meal and were surprised to be presented with a bill comparable to good Delhi restaurant standards!

Itihaas offers a diverse array of options, from its tantalizing platters to its refreshing non-alcoholic beverages. Unlimited servings cater to hearty appetites, ensuring no guest leaves unsatisfied. However, despite the tempting spread, service falls short, with extended wait times for additional servings even during quieter periods. The quality of chai disappoints, lacking the richness expected. Additionally, the inconvenience of restroom facilities being situated on the ground floor detracts from the overall dining experience.

A really nice atmosphere and beautifully decorated. I haven’t stopped talking about this place to anyone who will listen! Best Indian restaurant I’ve eaten at ever.

Really enjoyed the food here, far better than Asha’s. High quality food and reasonable prices for what you get. Lamb chops in particular were great, also enjoyed the butter chicken and the chilli chicken. Good portion sizes too. Up there with the best Indian restaurants in Birmingham for sure.

First time eating here with my partner. The decor/design is lovely. A waiting area with a chessboard to keep you occupied. Two floors of seating: street level and lower level. We sat in the lower level. There was a private room which was hosting a birthday party. A great ambience and the lovely decor/design continued downstairs. We ordered starters and mains. Kenyan samosa (with keema chicken) and vegan chilli mushrooms were our starters. Both were absolutely delicious! The mushrooms were (chef's 💋). Our mains followed, and we had lamb rogan josh (nothing like any lamb rogan josh I've had before) and maharaja maachli masala (cod in Tempura batter in a rich sauce). We accompanied our mains with basmati rice and mature cheddar and coriander naan (served in triangle slices, which made them much more appetising!) We ended up having to take some food home as we couldn't finish everything!! The service from the moment we entered until we left was excellent. We weren't rushed or hurried. The food was piping hot. Waiting staff were all pleasant and approachable. Without a doubt, we will be going back! We would 100% recommend this restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Itihaas😊.

The food was delivered within 15 mins and the taste was excellent. The restaurant has more tables in the basement so you have more space. I strongly suggest to book a table before visiting. A good place to have a get together, family dinner, etc. Toilets are in the basement (male/female separate). There is a waiting area at the ground floor (a very good cushioned sofas, books to read and chess board to play until you get the table or relax yourself after eating). Good news for alcohol lovers and party lovers: this restaurant serves liquor (many varieties which includes cocktails, mocktails, gin, rum, wine, and more).

We visited this excellent restaurant last week for a birthday celebration. The quality of authentic food is seriously good, excellent attentive waiters with good humour and overall positive vibe. We had a great time, this is the place to go for excellent Indian food. I do not normally leave reviews and have been to many Indian restaurants.. I will definitely be back - thanks Ithiaas Birmingham and keep up the great work - kudos to your chefs / team. Thanks
