The food is absolutely fire, not expecting such high quality Japanese cruise outside from Asia. The sashimi is fresh, soup is boiling hot. I ordered melon soda, that's the bomb, highly recommend if you have not tried Japanese soda before.
Price is slightly high but it is worth every penny. Will come again for sure.

The food was very nice and surprisingly good value for money. Would definitely recommend to try. The service was very good and the staff are friendly and made us feel welcome

Has to be one of the best sushi and ramen places in Birmingham. We tried the spicy chicken miso ramen, which was absolutely delicious. Our sushi selection was spider roll & spicy tuna roll; thought I preferred the spicy tuna over the spider roll sushi, both were pretty good. We had chicken teriyaki as a side dish too. Too good !

First time here the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was very comfortable and I loved the music that they played as I am an avid anime fan. The food was great in terms of flavor, presentation and portion size. Chicken was juicy and very yummy. Salmon was perfectly cooked.we are definitely coming back... well done keep it up👌👌👌

Small but nice restaurant.
4 tables were occupied on arrival at lunch time, which got busier after 30 mins.
Staff greeted and showed us to the table but weren't overly friendly. Could be better at service with a smile.
But the main thing is, the food was fresh and quick service.
Most dishes are reasonably priced, some are a bit over priced compared to other Japanese restaurants in the area.
Overall, a good atmosphere with varied Japanese music.

Hidden gem in the centre of Birmingham. Tokyo Raman was the best I’ve had. Sushi was nice and fresh. Karage curry great portion but not so tasty. Overall would recommend

Wonderful spicy, smokey, flavourful ramen. Cozy atmosphere, very nice service. Some really good options for afternoon tea

The food tasted very good, the takoyaki was amazing...so so good. The only thing that was a let down was only giving us two Prawns for the tempura Prawns (£6ish) which they did not specify on the menu and it came with fried Peppers instead, have no idea why. Additionally, they didn't give us the whole egg in our ramens, just half 😅 would have preferred if the spicy ramen was spicier too. However the taste and quality was very good, just little things like this.

Haven't been here for a long time. The food was just as good as I recall with a good selection of Japanese food, including sushi and sashimi. I had a bento box and green tea latte.

Amazing food, shame it's not busier as it should be shouted on the rooftops how good the ramen and sushi is here! Lovely meal, will return and the chef was lovely too.

Simply delicious food - prices very reasonable considering the portion sizes and fabulous taste.
Great service too and loyalty card is a bonus.
I've only tried their Ramen varieties so can't comment about the rest, but i'm sure it must be good too

The staff are lovely. I did a takeaway and asked if the items could be delivered to me outside in the sunshine as I wanted to sit on the wooden seats opposite. They were more than happy to do that.
The restaurant is hidden away by the walk down on the ramp by the back of the Bullring by the Church. Because I’m not familiar with Japanese dishes I asked lots of questions. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. I picked up a loyalty card because the chances are I will go there again.
Ooo.. there’s a little selection of Japanese spices and snacks that you might look for in a supermarket.

Quick stop for a delicious tonkotsu spicy chicken ramen, with 1 of my favourite Japanese drinks the ramune melon. Great authentic food in the middle of birmingham, well recommended.

A real gem of a place. It's a rare find, such a lovely spot so close to the bullring that isn't all flash. This place has real heart, and that makes the food so much better.
We had the soft shell crab sushi roll (Spider roll) Teriyaki Salmon Bento, and Tonkotsu Ramen. Each dish was amazing, and a big portion for the price, we split everything between two but it was easily too much for us, though we wished we could eat more.
The tonkotsu comes with 2 fried gyoza - eat them first so the soup doesn't make them too soggy. On that note, I haven't had Tonkotsu this good for a long time - I highly recommend it, particularly if you've had a bad day - this is a soup that heals the soul.
The staff were helpful, attentive and always had a smile despite being busy. I recommend sitting at the bar facing the window. It's nice to people watch, and you can see Selfridges and the Clock tower, a nice little spot.
Yup, we'll be back for sure. ✌️

Amazing lunch there yesterday. The nigiri and tuna sashimi were spectacular, the octopus balls were superb and the salmon bento was delicious. Fantastic service and all-round perfect experience. Can't rate Mount Fuji high enough. Will definitely be eating there again soon!

The food was excellent, pity there isn't more room in the restaurant. But well worth a visit.

The service was poor, My wife was served her chicken bento but we had to chase my beef bento up, the waitress did not take my order and had to ask me again what I ordered.
When it finally did turn up my wife had almost finished her meal.
As for the food quality, well I really did not think it was good, I have had several bento boxes from several places and this really was not as good sorry

Literally the best donburi I have ever eaten. Will be coming back for more!

Second time I've been. Just went for a sushi plate. Needed a quick lunch amongst the chaos of christmas shoppers. Great service in pleasant calm surroundings. The sushi and sashimi plate was generous and delicious (scallop sashimi is truly brilliant).
Its becoming the go to place if im in town.

Awesome place for sushi! I tried their bentos, prawn tempura, miso soup, and different types of sushi. The restaurant is a bit small and i find it sometimes hard to move when there are other people moving around also. Staff are really friendly. This place is one of my favourites in birmingham. Some times i would go to the city center just for it!
Dine Birmingham
Mount Fuji is a small, informal and contemporary restaurant located in Birmingham city centre, on Spiceal Street. I like the bar stools and long counters, as it gives a diner or coffee-shop feel, although there are a few tables for larger groups. I like to sit at one of the tables along the window so I can watch the world go by while I eat my sushi.

Food

To start I ordered some miso soup, followed by some vegetable tempura to share with my husband. The miso soup was very tasty, and the vegetable tempura is a favourite of ours, having a beautifully light, paper-thin batter with a delicious dipping sauce.

My husband ordered the Cod Fillet & Pork Tonkatsu Bento with Chef’s Sushi Plate. I shared some of the sushi, which was among the best sushi I’ve ever had – the balance of flavours just seem absolutely spot on and the sushi rice is wonderfully soft and sticky.

My husband always enjoys the bento boxes because they cater nicely to his ‘OCD’, as each different part of the bento is served in a separate compartment!

I find the bento exceptionally well balanced, as they include meat, rice, salad, vegetables and pickles.

I opted for the Pork Tonkatsu Curry, Rice and Salad. Although not as neat and tidy as the bento boxes, this was a very flavoursome dish – on this occasion, however, I found the pork quite dry and a little tough. I did like the crispy texture of the breadcrumb, and the tonkatsu sauce on the side, which offered a salty contrast to the slightly sweet and spicy curry sauce.

For dessert I usually have the Giant Japanese Profiterole, a sumptuous blend of green tea cake, cream and vanilla ice-cream, but decided to try something different this time and went for the Matcha Tiramisu. This was a lovely little dessert – the cream was exceptionally light and the green tea cake at the bottom was mild and not too sweet: simple, but effective.

drinks

I started with a small glass of sake, which washed down the sushi and other starters very well, and ended with a glass of Japanese Plum Wine – a sweet liqueur which is a great accompaniment to dessert.

My husband had the Sapporo Export, which he described as a very good, but very unusual beer. He also had some Syochikubai (hot sake), which is wonderful in cold weather.

overall

I have dined at Mount Fuji many times and it rarely fails to impress.

Service has been a little hit and miss in the past, but on this occasion it was prompt and friendly.

If you like Japanese food, I would definitely recommend giving Mount Fuji a try.

price

A curry will set you back about £8, and a bento box costs between £8 and £14 depending on what type you have. Overall, I think it is reasonably priced, although drinks can be on the expensive side.
