Styling itself ‘Cocktail Bar and Kitchen’, Bohemian recently took over the large corner building at the main Moseley crossroads, that was previously home to a more rough-and-ready pub, The Junction. The venue is now decked out with exposed brick and a fancy fireplace, but how does the new menu check out?
Atmosphere
They’re going for the vintage vibe that is starting to be unescapable these days. A bit like The Jekyll and Hyde but more industrial, and more spacious. A sneaky peek upstairs revealed another elegant dining space. Downstairs, the vibe is ‘upmarket pub.’
Food
We slipped in for a much-needed Sunday feast, noting that they run a special brunch menu with a free drink on weekends from 10am - 3pm. However, we opted for a couple of choices from the main menu: the Moo BBQ and the triple slider burger, named Once, Twice, Three Times a Slider. Both came with fries and a satisfying purple slaw.
The Moo BBQ was a barbecue brisket burger, with chunky slices of beef brisket (cooked a little too dry for my taste) providing the meaty heft. This was supported by melted gruyere cheese, rocket and tomato. The house barbecue sauce, which was deliciously zingy, added the ‘BBQ’ element. Once, Twice, Three Times a Slider, I have to admit, was disappointing. In theory it couldn’t go wrong. The perfect decision for the indecisive, it came with a coriander beef burger, a mint and rosemary lamb burger and a chicken burger to finish. However, the burgers simply weren’t juicy enough - the beef one was almost burnt. I also would have personally preferred individual buns rather than a big baguette.
A saving grace was the selection of sauces and accompaniments that came with the sliders. The caramelised red onion in particular helped to jazz up the dish.
Drinks The cocktail menu was impressive, and I suspect this is where Bohemian comes into its own. A glance at the menu throws up many interesting-sounding tipples: Basil Fawlty (basil-infused gin, elderflower liqueur and lemon) to name but one.
The ‘Bohemian Cocktail Club’ is their happy hour (£5 a drink), and runs every day from 5pm - 10pm, and all day Wednesdays and Sundays.
Pricing
Moo BBQ (Barbecue brisket burger) = £6.00
Once, Twice, Three Times a Slider (Triple slider burger) = £6.50
Cocktails = £6.50-£7.50 (average), £5 during Cocktail Club hours
Overall
Reasonably-priced, reasonably OK meal in a cosy and stylish setting. A bit more interesting than standard pub grub, with some creative twists on the menu. Drinks are more promising than the food, with a large selection of unusual cocktails to try.
What a great night new years eve was! Amazing service! Fantastic cocktails! Female doorstaff was lovely, cracking jokes with everyone! Definitely going to go again.
I attend this bar regularly, and cannot fault the service or environment here.
A very mixed crowd which I really like, and they always host a variety of events here.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming and so are the door staff.
They always ensure your looked after and Always ensure people get home safe. I have witnessed on many occasions people being alone and the staff here ensure they are put in a taxi or bough inside to make sure they are safe.
The drink prices are reasonable and they now do cocktail trees which I absolutely love!
I recommend this place to anyone looking for a good night out in Birmingham!

Organising a hen do is stressful but couple that with having nut allergy it's a headache! From the moment I spoke to him on the phone to the second we left John made sure we were getting Vip treatment. They removed the nuts from the bar to make the venue as safe as possible. There were three other hen parties in that night but we still felt special. The masterclass was so funny and actually I thought better than the one I went previously to in Broad Street which was a lot more! The cocktails are proper cocktails not the premixed mostly juice ones. I recommend June bug that was my favourite and the bride's... All in all great job. Would I come again? Try and stop me! 😊

Attending my friends birthday event and also did the decor. Everyone who worked there was so warm and welcoming and make us feel really comfortable!! Made my set up less stressful and was well looked after while I worked.

Booked this venue for my moms surprise 60th party, from the beginning the staff couldn’t be more accomodating and helpful. Through the day of the party they was there helping to set up, so kind and friendly. The venue is beautiful also. Would definitely recommend to everyone! The cocktails are also a must try. ABSOLUTELY love this bar, everytime I go I have the best time, music is always great, bar staff brilliant and never have to wait ages for a drink even when its busy. ALWAYS feel safe here especially as a women, Love the fact there are female security they are brilliant. My friend had her babyshower here yesterday and they catered to a very high standard. Looking to have my birthday party here too! Overall I love it and feel safe whilst being out enjoying myself with my girls. Thanks x
So glad i choose to come here new years eve had a wicked night , ques were a bit long but kinda expected that with how busy it was, my hat goes off to them for managing to keep up.. door staff was friendly as usual strict but fair like always and and the bar staff are lovely great event overall will definitely be going to one of there events again .. defo recommend this bar to my friends
Booked Bohemian for my 60th and it was a lovely venue - the bar manger really helped us get everything sorted - it looked amazing and I had a lovely night - we did have a few little misunderstandings re the organisation in the run up to the event which did get sorted out but would just advise to make sure you iron things out clearly just to avoid stress ahead of your event. Overall a lovely venue and thankyou for making my 60th such a special night 🙂🙂
