Been nearly ten years since I last enjoyed a great pint and great food at The Malt House.
All I can say is, still superb. Fell in love with this pub again.
Great pub great staff great drinks great atmosphere lovely single ladies and amazing definitely coming again.
Really great place for food and drink and cheap and staff great especially adam who most helpfull
pre-theatre meal. Had the fish & chips. scampi & chips! really lovely food. extremely busy but food was served within time stated on arrival. Lovely venue for the arena, will definitely visit again
went here on Saturday with the family, food was amazing and so was the view, would deffinatly come back.
Great Night last night before John Bishop show at Arena. Booked table for meal in advance. Great service. Lovely food. Good value for money. Friendly staff and great location next to the Arena. Can't fault anything. Highly recommended.
Lovely place and lovely view of the canal. Recommend this for food and drinks
Had a lovely meal and rhubarb gin. Staff were polite and came over find out if everything was ok with food. The food was lovely will be visiting again
Great pub food, good location, very busy, so be ready to queue
Adorable little pub right by the canal.
Not had a chance to try the food but plenty of drink options, especially on a warm evening, plenty of seating outside too.
You can also order/pay through the Greene King app (when it’s not too busy) which makes it a lot more convenient.
My only suggestion would be to allocate non-smoking areas when sitting outside as we kept getting smoked from every angle, no matter where we sat.
Charming pub along the canal, we stopped by for an afternoon treat after a walk around the city. They are dog friendly and the service was friendly and quick. We had a chocolate brownie and lemon tart. The tart was a bit hard and the vegan ice cream probably wasn't the best pairing. Nevertheless we'd come back for a drink or two again as our new local.
Impressive looking building, situated right on the canal. The pub has a good beer selection. Food was perfectly acceptable. Nothing amazing, standard chain pub grub, but tasty enough.
Biggest downfall for us was the heating, or lack of it. We'd met with friends and were on a bit of a session day. We had planned for more drinks after our meal, but decided to move on as we were all freezing. We'd have happily bedded in for the afternoon if we'd been warm. Probably a sign of the times.
We went here on Christmas Eve for dinner and the place was very quiet. The staff were kind and attentive nonetheless and the food was good. I had the BBQ chicken which was a good combination of flavours. The pub itself is really beautiful. We had only been here in summer before but now in winter time it is really cosy inside with the right amount of light and wooden interior. We will revisit when coming to Birmingham again.
A very beautiful building in the heart of Birmingham, the Malt House is a nice choice as a pub.
Great ambient and staff and also great food.
Price is not cheap but the size of the plates makes up for it.
From the traditional Fish & Chips to other options the menu has a great range of choices.
If you are by the canal wharf the Malt House is a must go.
Decent venue. Menu was varied although a lot of choices were missing. Busy enough and a nice atmosphere.
Lovely setting looking over the canal in Birmingham. Very clean and the staff friendly. Ordered our food from the bar and we didn't have to wait very long for it to come. Not bad value for money for a city centre pub and the food was very good. We had the katsu chicken burger which was very tasty.
Haben draußen auf der Terrasse gesessen und was getrunken. Sehr schönes Lokal. Man kann hier auch essen. Blick auf den Kanal

Sat outside on the terrace and had a drink. Very nice restaurant. You can also eat here. View of the canal
Great pub in a beautiful location along the canal. Super friendly staff.
Excellent place with good food.
The location is probably the best in Birmingham! Right next to the canal.
The local beer was good, I would recommend trying it.
The building is really nice and looks great.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Service was good. Menu has vegetarian options and good beer options.
This was a great to pub to go drinking at, located conveniently next to the canals of Birmingham! The seating is comfortable especially with the added bonus of outside for the heat, the counter is well-presented and the design is top notch including different shaped structures and decorations related to the canal. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed a pint of mango cider, although it is a bit expensive especially for this city.
First time in The Malt House Birmingham it was a great night and the food was exquisite. Staff were warm friendly and very attentive. It is to be highly recommended and the next time we are in Birmingham we will definitely be back.
Cool location, pretty big spot along the water. A lot of action because of a show across the canal, and offered many food and drink options. For how packed it was the servers did a good job attending to everyone in a timely manner. The beers weren’t that expensive either. Very nice atmosphere, been in a few times and will continue to come back!
Really close to river canal and has a nice with to it. Average food and drinks. Friendly staff.
We visited last Saturday for my birthday. We were made aware of a wait on food which was fine we expected it on a busy Saturday afternoon! Food came out quicker than expected and was lovely! Having a fussy daughter the staff catered for her which made for a happy teen! Staff were friendly and efficient especially John that attended to us throughout. We will be returning soon.
