Fantastic place!! The food has to be the best in the Midlands. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere of the place is so relaxing and comfortable. The drink are spot on. Cant fault the place in anyway. HIGH RECOMMENDED!!!5 STARS
Fab service! The food was great and the staff were very accommodating considering 26 of us turned up unannounced on a Saturday afternoon after 3 hours of training. On behalf of myself, and no doubt Team Greece Roller Derby as well, thank you for taking it in your stride and getting our food out quickly and without fuss :)
Lovely homely pub.food and drink is top noch...

Best pub in Birmingham. Excellent atmosphere and friendly staff.
Best pub in Smethwick without a doubt. Food is awesome I recommend a "fat cow mixed grill"
Bakra is awesome. Grills are top notch. Beer is as good as can you will get.
Good better best....................................
Recommend to everyone don't knock till u try it everyone is welcome to u.
The Red Cow has one of the best Mixed Grills/Sizzlers I have ever tried, set in the heart of Smethwick you can not beat the authenticity of the cuisine, would recommend to anyone!
Went on a Thursday evening to the Red cow. Thought the worst as there was 1 table occupied by diners. How wrong we were!
We went for the ‘fat cow’ chilli chips, masala chips, lollipop chicken, chilli lollipops and 3 naans. We asked for the chips and naans to be upgraded on the fat cow as it only comes with plain but it was lost in translation so we got 3 plain naans and 2 chips additional to what we wanted.
The fat cow grill itself was sensational. Lamb chops - great taste, perfect amount of charring. All the chicken was juicy and full of flavour. Fish pakora - nice light batter, lots of meaty fish.
The chilli chips were unreal, so so good! Definitely recommend them with the chilli lollipops. Certainly no scrimping on the portions! The only slight criticism is the grill wasn’t sizzling when it came out but it was on a oven tray as it was so big! It says on the menu it serves 8-10, there was 5 of us and we were all stuffed.
Would definitely go back, be great to go when it’s busy. One of the best mixed grills we’ve all had, up there with Champys, new hen and chickens etc.
Food was really nice. Ordered lamb and chicken drumsticks and they tasted exactly as I expected. The service was also very quick and the staff were fantastic.
My only criticism is the interior looks very dated and could do with a serious refesh.
We went here en route to the hawthorns. Friendly staff with a good beer selection at low prices with a Cobra for £3 odd quid!
We ordered the mini cow mixed platter between two with chips & naan. Mixed platter was seriously amazing & I was stuffed!
Decor is a little dated but tbh I was there for the food and everyone was lovely with good pre match chats!
Not a bad word to say at all about the red cow. The dishes are spot on and delicious every time, and the service is excellent too. Definitely our go to curry house, and we always look forward to eating from here. ☺️
Excellent place to visit, the food, drinks are all reasonably priced compared to other rip of pubs. Mixed grilled absolutely lovely.
I shared a curry with my parents here. Was a lovely curry we even shared the curry, rice and a plate of chips as it was enough for 3 people and it was delicious definitely will go again for a meal here.
Everything I'd hoped and more. Food fantastic, everything is well priced and staff are friendly.
My first time at this place. It is a traditional style pub with pool tables and a dart board. They even serve a pint of mild. The staff are friendly. Get a pint, sit down, look at the menu and order your food. There is a very good selection on the Menu. The Mixed Grill came in 5 sizes. We had a Red Cow mixed grill, Chicken Balti, Lamb Kadai, Lamb Keema with Aloo. Sides were Pilau Rice, Naan, Roti and Chips. The mixed grill is one of the best I've tasted in a long time. Nothing on the platter was charred black like you would find in some desi pubs. The the meat was tender and flavourful. The curries were on par with most places except for the Lamb Keema with Aloo where it was very salty. We brought this to their attention and was quickly resolved. The prices were reasonable. Good value for money. I also ordered 2 Butter Chickens and 2 Naans to take home for the kids. Normally most places serve the Butter Chicken as mild, but this one had a bit of a kick to it. It was still very tasty, but unfortunately one of the kids couldn't handle the heat. This is a mental note for me in the future. The question is...Would we return? Yes... Especially for the mixed grill.
Full time - 9/10
On arrival we were welcomed by a large selection of beers and ciders to which it took a while to decide what refreshment i wanted. I chose a Cobra @ £3,30
Went and sat down with around 5 televisions in crucial locations to be able to see the Europa League final.
Having looked at the menu myself and co-attendee chose a ‘Red Cow’ to share alongside two garlic cheese naans with a side of chips which totalled £21.
Food was brought to the table within 15 minutes and was piping hot - all the foods was delicious and even ate the fish pakoras which is slightly out the ordinary for myself.
Garlic and cheese Naan was again sublime but unfortunately due to the amount on the ‘red cow’ I left a slice and a few chips.
Would even recommend this to my ex as this establishment was thoroughly enjoyed - only downside was the distance to travel but you have got to speculate to accumulate.
Always love going here, you always feel welcome, food you cant fault and good value! You can go in dressed up or in your work clothes and you wont feel out of place.
Went to the shireland last week which was a positive experience met my uncle there who said the red cow is a must, so on his recommendations here i am..... drinks are reasonably priced as is the food. We only ordered a mixed grill the £15 one, keema naan, few rotis and keema peas. Food was of a high standard cant complain. It is at the top with a few of the other local ones, they have the concept right and the service is okay. The bad bits.... salad was way stingy, and the lack of chutney/sauces we had to ask for extras. All in all pretty good.
Fantastic place for a bite to eat, well worth a visit. Staff friendly and helpful.
Visited Saturday evening for the first time and really ourselves. We travelled from Coventry after checking reviews and were not disappointed.
We had veg & fish pakora starters which were crispy and tasted delicious.
Then ordered lamb and bombay potato curry, mini sizzler, kulcha naan, masala chips with side salad.
Food was very good quality and well priced costing £22 for the above.
Good table service and beer plus plenty of TV screens to watch footy so will definitely visit again.
Excellent service and brilliant experience food
