Everything here is great! The food is excellent and you see friendly faces here, making this restaurant a nice place to visit. They serve the best Asian cuisine in this area, and I highly recommend the chicken katsu! Perfect place for an enjoyable yet affordable lunch!
A must visit place.
Nice and fresh food served at affordable rate.
Both Lisa and Pann are nice.
I wish Both best of luck...Cheers
Great little eatery in jewellery quarter. Best Malaysian food in Birmingham and very good value too. Don’t miss their daily specials or their sushi nights!!! You won’t regret it!
Possibly the best Malaysian food I’ve had outside Malaysia. Delicious!
Best Malaysian food in the City! Have recommended to my Malaysian friends.
Very nice & Authentic Malaysian foods. Always welcome to preorder & serve the fresh foods
Three visits so far. Great food, excellent value coffee too!
Really excellent food, highly recommended!
A hidden gem! Amazing authentic Malaysian food cooked with love! We visited for the first time today & we were blown away with the flavours & warm, friendly service. The special was one of the best dishes I’ve ever tried! We’ll definitely be regulars here!
We were provided with brilliant food and service. The staff was very accommodating of us despite arriving late for our reservation.
I would recommend the Nasi Lemak with curry ayam, Nasi goreng, and the pandan cheesecake. Having had teh tarik before I was expecting it to be cloying, but I was pleasantly surprised by its mellow sweet flavours.
I had asked for flowers to be placed on the table as it was Valentine's day and the staff kindly offered extra roses which I really appreciated. I would also like to thank Jacob, our server, who was very attentive and amicable throughout the evening.
Overall, my girlfriend and I had a great night out at Lisa & Pann and would recommend it to everyone looking for a terrific meal.
Nice little place in Moseley. First visit. Food was lovely. If you are a tea lover, definitely try the Malaysian tea.
Always a treat here. Malaysian and South East Asian food. The taste takes me back home every time!
If you are craving for authentic Malaysian food, I definitely recommend this place. I had the Penang Assam Laksa and my husband had the Char Kway Teow, both tasted very fresh and made from fresh ingredients. We also had the curry puff for starter, which is packed with the filling. Definitely best Assam Laksa I have had in UK so far and the Char Kway Teow also has the wok hei. If I can stomach both, I would definitely eat the Char Kway Teow too as I was jealous of my husband’s food even though I was enjoying my Laksa. Owner is from Penang, Malaysia so they definitely know what people are looking for especially if you understand and love the Penang food. Great service and friendly family run business; owner took the time out to chat with us when she had a moment free and made us felt very welcome.
Came here on a busy Friday night with my parents, however the staff seemed relaxed and professional despite how busy it was. The food was delicious and the menu had extremely interesting dishes on it. I would highly recommend. Excellent food and service! It was a nice touch that the chef came over to our table to ask about our food.
Food was superb, very reasonably priced. Atmosphere in entering restaurant was buzzing. We sat downstairs were it was quieter, other customers arrived adding to atmosphere. Service was excellent. Definitely go back!
Good selection of delicious Malaysian food. The service was very friendly and efficient.
Lovely neighbourhood with lovely food. The charkueyteow has wok hei! Loved it. Highly recommend! <3 Malaysian pride!
Malaysian food cooked with heart. These 2 work their socks off as a residency in the pig and tail within the Jewellery quarter. Friendly waiting staff and the pub to boot we ended up going 2 of the 3 nights of our stay. We did venture to another and less said about that the better. The pub is a generous size with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has some Malaysian classics as well as some other inspired dishes from Asia. There is a platter of starters but it is substantial for 4 never mind 2. Volcano sushi a firm favourite of the bar staff. Chicken wings are insane crispy and juicy. The turmeric chicken thighs are another level. Lucky to get sweet char siu as well on a visit charred rather just red like many in the Chinese restaurants. Nasi goreng with extra fried egg is such a treat. Shout out to the katsu cocktail a bowl of katsu chicken curry sauce and chips. Pandan chicken juicy thigh chicken. Food and service top notch.
Newly opened.
Genuine tasty Malaysian cooking.
Limited menu but cooked to order.
We really enjoyed it.
Even though we live 100 miles away I would consider coming again. Thank you for your friendly welcome.
We had a wonderful time here, the food was excellent! There are several veggie & vegan options available.
For info, the Sambal chilli sauce isn't hugely spicy, it's nicely zingy. We weren't sure if it was going to be too spicy but we needn't have worried.
It's not licensed so bring your own alcohol, or there is a One Stop off licence nearby. There is a small corkage charge.
Had a fantastic and delicious meal on the opening weekend - highly recommended. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Can’t wait to visit again to try some more dishes!
Wow the food here is top notch, I feel sad I've only just discovered this place has a guest kitchen spot at Pig and Tail but only for a few more weeks left!
Nasi goreng set meal for £13.90 was good value, very filling and it was a nice touch it came with fried chicken, crackers, sambal and a pineapple salad. Egg was cooked perfect and the rice was nice and spicy!!
Katsu curry came with chips as well
Curry puffs, a bit like a samosa, pastry very good.
Share platter with deep fried sushi. The coriander dip was so beautiful
Everything we ate was so good I cannot fault it!
I want to go back and try the other items on the menu asap!
Pig and tail is a good setting especially now they have Attic and Verdant beers on draught !

Didnt realised it is inside a pub. Food served quick and delicious. very fresh. love the chilli.
drinks ordered from the pub itself.
there are street parking around the area for free. just need to walk for a bit. a few places have to pay. do look out.
Initially hard to find, but well worth the search. The small eatery is situated within the pigs & tail pub, so you get to enjoy the contrasting archaic British interior of the old pub whilst feasting on fresh and vibrant Malaysian cuisine.
I've never written a review for a restaurant before, but after visiting Lisa and Pann yesterday, I felt that they definitely deserved one. We visited yesterday for Valentine's day and despite being quite late to our reservation, we were greeted quite warmly and even had a whole booth reserved for us.
The food was exceptional, and as someone from Indonesia, I had really high expectations. My favourite was the Teh Tarik (perfect sweetness!) and the kari ayam (it tasted as good as it does at home!) The finishing touch, however, was the service. Jacob was lovely! and Lisa even gave us some roses as we were leaving because she remembered that my boyfriend had asked for some when making the reservation.
I would highly encourage everyone in Birmingham to give this lovely restaurant a visit!
To my experience, Lisa & Pann's Kitchen offers the most authentic Malaysian dishes in Birmingham. To highlight a few - Nasi Lemak, Char Kway Teow, Hainanese Chicken Rice, and Penang Laksa.
I felt honoured to be the first batch to taste the Pandan Kaya (a Pandan flavoured coconut paste). This goes particularly well with sourdough toast. The jar is easy to take away and is probably of the top-quality in the UK.
Definitely would recommend a visit, expect yourself to be welcomed by the lovely hosts Lisa, and Pann!
We had a fantastic lunch today. Such a friendly welcoming place. Really family friendly. We went without our kids but will be back with them :)
Lovely fresh food, tasty and good value.
The pandan cheesecake was so delicious and light.
A really great addition to Kings Heath's independent food scene.
