The food was very tasty and fresh. The chicken was succulent and juicy. The rice good, we had soup and tea and it was amazing. The tea was my favourite. We also orderer a chicken shawarma i didn't like that much, had no seasonings could been better. The rest was good and service great aswell

Grub from Old Damascus, Coventry Road Ordered: a mixed grill with rice and salad, a batata haara and a large fries. Delivery was on time and the food was packaged really well. I'll get the main negative out the way first - the fries were slightly undercooked and I instantly regretted ordering a 'large'. Fries get a 3/10 The beef kebab was grilled to perfection juicy, tasty, succulent and a decent size - a delight to eat. 9/10 The chicken kebab was also grilled perfectly and was equally as enjoyable as the abovementioned. Splendid in taste and extremely juicy 😋 9/10 The chicken tikka was a delight. The peices were tender and cooked perfectly 9/10 The rice was tasty but disappointingly greasy 5/10 The salad was fresh n crispy and made the rice consumption somewhat easier 8/10 The batata haara was very tasty but slightly overcooked and again, very very greasy 6/10 Overall it was a tasty meal and despite the negatives, the food sheikh would order from this establishment again. The food sheikh recommends this joint! @myolddamascus #halal #restaurant #grill #mixedgrill

A lovely restaurant with traditional regional food, Old Damascus does not fail to deliver. I have ordered from this restaurant on several occassions, and have recently visited in store, and have made several observations. They accept card and have indoor seating. An open kitchen, O.D cooks everything infront of you, and you can see how everything is clean and well made with care. Service, upon entering, I was instantly greeted. Order, I made several requests, which were all expertly catered to, such as customisation of my order (specific salads), I asked to pay upfront and was allowed to do so and I was given a wide choice of drinks. Upon making my order I was shown to my seat and had my order taken to me, it was not the fastest service of food, but this is not quick to cook food, and it is all made fresh, so the time was adequate and very pleasant. After I had finished eating, I was told that I could leave my plate and it would be cleared for me. I ordered a chicken shawarma meal, it was very hot, juicy and delicious well cooked chicken, the wrap was crunchy and stretch, simply beautiful. The chips could have been slightly better, but that is personal opinion, they were also very nice. The sauces here are gorgeous. Lovely hardworking staff that deserve full respect for their craft and dedication for delivering good service and food. Attentive staff, good food and pleasant atmosphere, this restaurant is worth a visit.

This is one of my 4 best places to eat out in Birmingham so far for Arabic/Syrian. I've eaten in other Arabic places and by far the food quality, service and flavours are amazing here in comparison. I mostly get the grilled salmon or sea bass (it's a whole sea bass, and it's not a small one) with their authentic rice and salad. Sometimes I get half rice and half fries and that's awesome they allow that without being difficult like some places. I've gotten the mixed grills before and that was also great but as I rarely eat animal meat now, it's not an option I go for now. They provide Syrian style tea all ready and hot near counter, just help yourself with the glasses or plastic cups to takeaway. Tastes great and matches against the Karak chai at Chaiiwala whilst cheaper. Although it isn't as glamorous as other large restaurants, it's clean, authentic in it's food, great prices in comparison, great portions and friendly staff who are from their home country. It's a place I always go back to after trying other new places.

If you've never tried one of their platters, you're missing out. I'm more than happy to travel 20 miles to eat at this place and it's a breath of fresh air to have Syrian/Arab food which feels like it nourishes the soul as opposed to the oil soakes rubbish that is the in the surrounding shops. Anyone that has experienced life outside of chicken and chips and has a more varied palette will appreciate this!

Food is well presented and tasty here. Definitely one of the better Middle Eastern restaurants. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous! Struggled to finish the platter with my family (maybe my stomach has shrunk?). Only downside is that they don't do Lamb or Beef shawarma. I don't usually have chicken shawarma but theirs is really nice and better than other places I've been at. Try the handmade burgers also. I liked the meat one and I would have that again. The place is small and cosy and HMC certified.

Been twice. Family have really enjoyed it. Platter for 2 is very generous for the price. 2 adults and 2 kids and there was still leftovers to take home on both occasions. Everything on the platter is tasty. Seating area isn't the most comfortable and the AC/ventilation isn't great. The second time we went, it was a really hot day and we noticed it more. Staff are very helpful and accommodating.
