I was brought here by some friends who strongly recommended it. Ordered chicken and lamb Karai and dhal, mango lassi with naan and roti. Had achar, some mint sauce and salad. Absolutely everything was incredibly tasty. Cant fault a thing, service was great. Chai at the end was exactly what we needed. I will also note a few of the previous 1 star reviews are fraudulent and from customers who brought in alcohol and then put up fake reviews with “Muslim names”. I have reported them, please report them too.

A frequent place and we travel over an hour to visit with family and friends. I have never been let down from the courtesy and friendly warm service from the waiters to the exquisite taste of the the food the mix grill is to die for, unique with flavoursome sauces and good marination. The Karahi and Balti are also lovely. Nadeem is always warm and welcoming and spends time and effort to make us feel welcome. A must try for anyone who loves Desi food!

Been a regular customer for almost 10 years. Always a smashing karahi, fresh and full of flavour. The tarka daal is a very under rated dish that most people will make the mistake of skipping, but believe me, it’s a must try.

Second time we have dined here, absolutely amazing. The waiter Mak aka Khanshab was amazing, ready to help and giving excellent customer service. All enjoyed the food throughly and the 1kg lamb was made to melt in your mouth, cooked right by the best! All the food was really good, they have maintained the service!Definitely recommend again! 5 stars! (First Review) First time I've eaten from this Desi Karahi. Staff are friendly and ready to help. From the starters to the mains were amazing. Nice chicken sheeh kebabs and the lamb karahi was really good. The naans are huge compared to other places I've visited! Superb definitely go again.

Amazing food. Need to go back and try other things on the menu. Their chicken wings, lamb karahi are a must. Ate some of my kids fries as they were nice too. Their chicken jalfrezi was nice but I think my expectation was high for this dish. Will definitely come back.

Early evening meal at desi karahi, alum rock Road.. Unfortunately these guys do not have an Instagram account so I can't tag them in. I'll do a short review nevertheless... Very quiet on entry. We were given a choice of seating immediately. We browsed the menu and ordered almost instantly. 2 poppadoms, one butter chicken balti and one tarka daal with 4 tandoori roti's. One of the poppadoms had something on it but was duly changed when pointed out. Poppadoms were not recently cooked but were unbelievably crispy and tasty coupled with the complimentary dips (mango chutney in particular) they were very satisfying 8.5/10 The butter chicken balti - what a beauty! The vibrant colours of the dish were not deceiving because the taste was equal to the looks. Deliciously tasty, the chicken was soft and tender and the buttery sauce was simply sublime. The fresh corriander giving it the icing on the cake. Unfortunately they also used oil in this dish (a big no no) and the oil killed the butteriness somewhat having said that, I did literally lick my fingers so 9/10 for the butter chicken balti. The tarka daal smelt absolutely divine, the butter was sensed from a mile away! The mixture of unique spices with this daal created an explosion of flavours and joy in my mouth. 2 tiny criticisms here. 1 it was slightly watery and 2 it lacked salt. Having said that, I cannot deny that I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. 8.7/10 Both dishes were really authentic & desi and the chef definitely knows his stuff! The tandoori rotis were cooked to perfection in the clay tandoor and were the perfect companion for the butter chicken and tarka daal. The roti's were a colossal size so most definitelyvalue for money! Roti gets 9.8/10 The food sheikh highly highly recommends you visit this fine establishment especially if you are yearning authentic delicious desi food! #restaurant #halal #pakistani #desi #authentic

Desi Karahi, Alum Rock, Birmingham I recently had the pleasure of dining at Desi Karahi in Alum Rock, Birmingham, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food at Desi Karahi is simply amazing, leaving a lasting impression on my taste buds. One dish that stood out was the Mixed Grill. It arrived at the table sizzling, and the aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. The combination of perfectly cooked meats, bursting with flavors and spices, was an absolute delight. I found myself thoroughly enjoying every bite and already looking forward to my next visit. Another highlight was the Lamb Karahi. This dish truly captured the essence of traditional flavors, taking me on a culinary journey I won't soon forget. The tenderness of the lamb, paired with the robust and rich karahi sauce, created a harmonious blend that was both authentic and wonderful. The service at Desi Karahi was top-notch. The waitstaff was not only professional but also incredibly friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. Despite being a party of 12, they effortlessly accommodated us, making us feel welcome and attended to throughout the evening. Even something as simple as a cup of tea was elevated to greatness at Desi Karahi. It was undoubtedly the best cup of tea I've had in a long time, perfectly brewed and served with care. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Desi Karahi highly enough. The food, from the sizzling Mixed Grill to the unforgettable Lamb Karahi, was exceptional. The service was fantastic, with attentive and friendly staff who made our dining experience truly memorable. Whether you're a fan of Pakistani cuisine or simply looking for an exquisite dining experience, Desi Karahi in Alum Rock, Birmingham, should be at the top of your list. I can't wait to return to this culinary haven myself.
