Absolutely amazing!! Just had a meal from the new menu, our party had pork 3 ways, lasagne, Cajun chicken burger and steak and ale pie.....it was to die for and lovely big portions. Very impressed �
Went for our “late” valentines meal this evening. The food was brilliant I had the burger and my wife had the fish cakes. The staff were great polite and friendly, nice atmosphere to. Would recommend to anyone we will definitely be back �
We had an amazing lunch yesterday. We both had chili with nachos and salad then berry Eton mess for desert. Simple food maybe but can be so easy to get it wrong. Never have I had a bad meal here. I've been many times both lunchtime and evening and have always enjoyed the food and ambience. The staff are really friendly and the food is always gorgeous. Won't be long before we will be going back.

Our second visit as we were in the area again, so had to return. Everything was the same as last time. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks & superb food. First visit I had an excellent burger but this time it was blown away by the best steak & ale pie I've ever had. We will return again.
We love it here, we often visit with friends and family and everyone always praises the good! We have also held family gatherings here, they are always so friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere, great for families and Sunday lunch and amazing steak pie! Must be the best I have ever tasted, it can't be beaten! Definitely recommend it!
Giant hake fish fingers with minted gem lettuce, capers and chips, Hunters chicken with chips onion rings, salad and coleslaw washed down with Blonde ale.....spot on.
Food is cracking, the pub is lovely with outdoor area for kids and staff are smashing, we'll definitely be back
Visited the Woodman today for a nice afternoon tea. The steak and ale pie was amazing. The chips were lovely too. Nice and thick. Great service and very reasonably priced. Lovely staff. Cannot fault the place! Also has an amazing garden for kids with swings and climbing frame etc.
Traveling to York (from New York) to visit in-laws, a proper Sunday Roast was a must. The Woodman's food, drink, and service are all spot on. Deliciously satisfying. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Good pints. Owner is gregarious and lovely
First visit to The Woodman on Easter Sunday for lunch.The food was delicious, great quality and generous portions. We ordered Sunday Roast, two Steak Pies and Fish & Chips. Roast came with plenty of veg, a side of cauliflower cheese and extra gravy. Steak pies were very substantial with plenty of filling. Fish was nice and fresh and the chips were amazing. Service was excellent, polite and very friendly staff. Pub was busy, but we were well looked after. Will definitely be visiting again!
Fantastic place. Hadn’t been for a while but called in. A very busy bustling place full of character and atmosphere. Our food was hot and very tasty. The staff were very accommodating. The landlady was very pleasant. Taking time to chat even though they were busy. Definitely recommend
Just googled a pub nearby as we were at York outlet for the day. What can we say amazing. Food was incredible and were still talking about it two days later. We had a Sunday roast the beef was cooked to perfection. And so much veg with cauliflower cheese too. And the staff were great nothing to much trouble. So big thank you to all will definitely go again if nearby.

Called in by chance and so glad we did. The lady at the bar was friendly and welcoming. The food was superb with generous portions. It is far beyond the standard fair you get with a chain pub. It was a wait for the meal to be served but so worth it. The beer (Yorvik Blonde) was good as well.

Food was good had the chicken burger without the bun as dont like brioche. Hommade coleslaw was good. Good selection of beer. Calimari was well cooked soft and nice light batter. Food was a bit underseasond and didnt get lemon with the calamari
Took the kids there for tea. Lovely warm welcome and delicious food. The kids had the meal deal. We didn't have time to stay for pudding so they kindly gave us some yummy brownies to take away.
What a wonderful pub this is. We were visiting York for the weekend from Bristol, I only found it via a Google search and decided to take my chances. Well I’m so happy I did! The food and service were both fantastic. Definitely worth a visit and if we’re up north again we will most certainly be coming back.
Just had an amazing Sunday lunch. My Son has severe allergies (serious ones, not just an intolerance).. when booking I told them my requirements and the landlady went above an beyond... When we arrived, they were re confirmed and they went through the measures they had taken. We felt very safe and he had an amazing dinner. The rest of us had one of the best Sunday dinners we have had in years. Thanks to everyone. So pleased
Update 15/08/19. Came back for dinner. Food was equally good. Sadly the service was provided by two different girls. They were awful! We ended up leaving after trying to order dessert, but no one would come to take the order. These two should be canned!!
Visiting from USA and found this wonderful place! We had the two dishes and dessert pictured. All fabulous!! The staff and service were equally wonderful and so pleasant!!

We recently booked the Woodman Inn for the our Aunts Wake.
We visited the Inn before booking and were made welcome and given all the information we needed to complete the booking.
We rang the week before with numbers and the menu we had chosen.
On the day the buffet spread was amazing and there was plenty of it. The fish goujons were especially good as was the lemon drizzle cake. Everyone who attended commented that they enjoy the food and we would definitely recommend a visit.
Once people dwindled away, the family stayed and some had an evening meal which again was delicious with good service.
We found the staff helpful and friendly, we will visit again
Met up with friends here for a meal...We all had different meals and had to wait a while for them which was what you expect if its being cooked fresh.. We all agreed it was one of the best pub meals we've had for a while...staff were lovely too...I had the from the farm share platter (pictured) was amazing.
Booked here for Sunday lunch as visiting local area. Staff very friendly and helpful and food wonderful home cooked and very good portions the dark brownie and cheese board was delicious and very well presented. Throughly recommend and would return if in the area again !
Delicious food! Good selection of gluten free and homemade vegan options as the manager is coeliac. Amazing hunters chicken, fish pie and vegan gnocchi! Not just 1 vegan option as well.
