Urban Zinc

After a week of great food all around Victoria, it was disappointing to come here with the family and have an exceptionally average meal. We were planning to go somewhere else nearby but it was busy, and Urban Zinc wasn't. Located right opposite Blackburn Railway Station, the position is good. And there is little competition with other cafes but all were busy. We made our way to the rear of the restaurant where there was a table for four, only one of two in the cafe. The menu was somewhat confusing in that it was a mixture of Australian breakfast and a touch of Asian. Our orders were taken reasonably quickly but the food took a while to arrive and not all at once. The hot chocolates - weren't hot. The meatballs with noodles were bland. The corn fritters were gluey. Two of us tried them and both agreed whatever was in the ingredients, stuck to your teeth - perhaps too much flour, cornflour or egg. The burger was large but compiled in such a way that it wasn't possible to eat with cutting into four pieces. What is gained in height, it lacked in a blend of flavours that complemented each other. However, the parma was good and the chips were very tasty although a little over salted. Most places these days allow you to put your own salt on. Overall, it was a letdown. Although I will say that they were doing a good trade in takeaway coffees. On a hygiene side - going through the kitchen to the toilets is just not on and frankly, something of a put off on so many levels. Notes: suitable for vegetarians and vegans or those with dietaries, the restaurant is wheelchair friendly, kid-friendly, takeaway available and there is good parking out the front in South Parade.

Drinks were good. Service was relatively quick. The people that do the cooking obviously have no training or skill. The food was terrible, part of our order was forgotten, part of the order was incorrect. Food wasn't seasoned, bits ere cold, bits were undercooked, bits were overcooked/ dry, bits were burnt. I would not recommend anyone come here to order off the menu, most disappointing breakfast. Only come here to order drinks.

Worst experience ! after my sisters visit last weekend she recommended this joint, so went in for a coffee and meal , ended up feeling unwanted. ordered a coffee was rudely treated, it was such a disappointment even worst that coffee tasted burnt . I shouldn't be treated like an inconvenience! Won't be going to that place ever again.
